LPM(Linear pulse motor) has made linear motions by itself. And the LPM has higher thrust force ratio to mass and more wide driving speed lunges comparing with the conventional rotating type motors. However, there are the thrust force ripples in the LPM, which are produced by the mechanical structures and nonlinear back emf. It makes to hesitate the practical applications of LPM. Especially, it becomes needed to reduce the thrust force ripples for practical, which needs relative low driving speeds. For reducing the thrust force ripples, in the first place, it was built a new nonlinear linkage flux equations of the LPM. In these equations, the influence of permanent magnetic and variable reluctance thrust force components were considered. In this paper, some experimental results in the modeling of LPM are shown and detent lone and holding force characteristics of LPM are measured.

A diagnostic methodology, which utilizes only the remotely-measurable signals, has been requested to be developed in order to evaluate and monitor conditions of MOVs. It is proven that the stem thrust are the most important variables which provide the operability of MOVs. Therefore the stem thrust estimator was developed and validated, which estimates stem thrust by use of the motor torque. The motor torque is calculated using electrical signals which can be measured in Motor Control Center(MCC). The procedures to evaluate the accuracy of the diagnostic variables were set up and the accuracy of each variable was obtained through the experiments under various conditions. In addition, the applicability of the stem thrust estimator was tested in the plants.

In this paper, a new formula for primary and secondary thrust of metal belt CVT is proposed considering variation of band tension, block compression and active arc for each of the primary and secondary pulleys. For the secondary thrust, effective friction coefficient is introduced considering the effect of flange deflection. Nondimensional primary and secondary thrust of the metal belt CVT by the new formula agree well with the experimental results except for low torque range, $0\;<\;{\lambda}\;<\;0.2$ at speed ration i = 1.0. The new formula can be used in design of the primary and secondary thrusts control system for the metal belt CVT.

Slotless Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) has good control ability but thrust density is low. So, this paper proposes inserted core type of slotless PMLSM to improve its thrust density. Inserting the core between windings of each phase, detent force is generated by the difference of magnetic resistance in an air gap. To minimize detent force, this paper applies the neural network to inserted core type of slotless PMLSM. The, Magnetic pole ratio, the width of the inserted core and the width of the coil are selected as a design parameter to minimize detent force. In comparison with inserted core type one, thrust ripple greatly decreases by minimizing detent force and also thrust increases in this optimal model.

This paper presents the selection method o( the input current wave forms for the thrust force ripple of linear pulse motor (LPM). We have developed and tested a prototype 2-phase 4-poles LPM with the permanent magnet and its control driver. To obtain the thrust performance curve of LPM, the performance curve at the air gap and the thrust are calculated and estimated by the analytical method on the base of the magnetic equivalent circuit and the finite element method. And, the thrust characteristics at the static operation state are analyzed and experimented with the respect to the input wave forms such as the rectangular, the triangular micro-step and the sine micro-step wave forms to investigate the thrust ripple and the vibration effects of LPM.

Dynamic behavior simulation of supersonic engine was performed and PI control algorithm was studied for the buzz control in the inlet and the thrust control. Firstly, required thrust was tracked according to the fuel flow control and then inlet pressure was regulated through the nozzle throat area control so that the buzz margin has the positive all the time. The control was performed according to the change of flight Mach number, altitude and angle of attack. The proportional gain and the integral gain for regulating the buzz margin was induced and simulated. In the results, it was confirmed and satisfied that control target in the operating area was changed the angle of attack from $0^{\circ}$ to $10^{\circ}$ at the flight Mach number of 2.1~3.0.
This paper summarizes results of second stage attitude control of KSLV-I third flight test. The results show that three axes attitude control at coasting phases of KSLV-I was successfully accomplished by the reaction control system, and pitch and yaw attitude control at thrusting phase where second stage kick motor burns was also normally accomplished by using the thrust vector control system. It is verified that the second stage controller performed successfully for all flight phases regardless of some disturbances due to mass center offset, slag effects, and residual thrust of kick motor. These results may provide an important basis in enhancing domestic technology level of attitude control of launch vehicle.

It is very difficult to measure an accurate thrust for the performance test of liquid rocket engine. Liquid rocket engine is attached to the propellant feed system, control valve and many other safety systems. Without considering these effects, thrust data measured from the firing test is not reliable and meaningless. In this research, the modified thrust measurement system, which includes both all these side effects is developed for the verification of low thrust liquid rocket engine performance. In addition, reliability appraisal technique is studied to secure the reliability of thrust measurement system.

The fluidic thrust vector control using co-flowing coanda effect of secondary jet at the nozzle exit is a new concept for efficient thrust vectoring of supersonic jet exhausts. Flow visualization of the flow fields in previous studies have shown some pros and cons of the technique, however, most of the observations were somewhat limited as qualitative data. The present study was designed to evaluate the quantitative performance-characteristics of the thrust-vectoring technique utilizing coanda effects of the secondary jet. Details of design of the test device and calibration/data reduction procedure are provided.

The advantages of the SITVC (Secondary Injection for Thrust Vector Control) technique over mechanical thrust vectoring systems include a reduction in both the nozzle weight and complexity due to the elimination of the mechanical actuators that are used in conventional vectoring. The optimal operating conditions of SITVC were investigated using in-house developed compressible flow analysis codes. Numerical experiments were used to examine the impact of the thrust vector direction with a variety of injection positions, mass flow rates, and injection angles on the two-dimensional expansion cone of a supersonic nozzle. The computational results showed that the optimal position of the secondary injection, with the maximum deviation angle and side thrust, was where the oblique shock generated by the secondary injection reached the end of the nozzle exit.
