  • Today, it is necessary to calculate orbits with high accuracy in space flight. The key words of Poincar$\acute{e}$ in celestial mechanics are periodic solutions, invariant integrals, asymptotic solutions, characteristic exponents and the non existence of new single-valued integrals. Poincar$\acute{e}$ define an invariant integral of the system as the form which maintains a constant value at all time $t$, where the integration is taken over the arc of a curve and $Y_i$ are some functions of $x$, and extend 2 dimension and 3 dimension. Eigenvalues are classified as the form of trajectories, as corresponding to nodes, foci, saddle points and center. In periodic solutions, the stability of periodic solutions is dependent on the properties of their characteristic exponents. Poincar$\acute{e}$ called bifurcation that is the possibility of existence of chaotic orbit in planetary motion. Existence of near exceptional trajectories as Hadamard's accounts, says that there are probabilistic orbits. In this context we study the eigenvalue problem in early 20th century in three body problem by analyzing the works of Darwin, Bruns, Gyld$\acute{e}$n, Sundman, Hill, Lyapunov, Birkhoff, Painlev$\acute{e}$ and Hadamard.

  • In this paper, tensile behavior of joint filling has been investigated under experimental test and numerical simulation (particle flow code). Two concrete slabs containing semi cylinder hole were prepared. These slabs were attached to each other by glue and one cubic specimen with dimension of 19 cm×15 cm×6 cm was prepared. This sample placed in the universal testing machine where the direct tensile stress can be applied to this specimen by implementing a special type of load transferring device which converts the applied compressive load to that of the tensile during the test. In the present work, two different joint filling thickness i.e., 3 mm and 6 mm were prepared and tested in the laboratory to measure their direct tensile strengths. Concurrent with experimental test, numerical simulation was performed to investigate the effect of hole diameter, length of edge notch, filling thickness and filling length on the tensile behavior of joint filling. Model dimension was 19 cm×15 cm. hole diameter was change in four different values of 2.5 cm, 5 cm, 7.5 cm and 10 cm. glue lengths were different based on the hole diameter, i.e., 12.5 cm for hole diameter of 2.5 cm, 10 cm for hole diameter of 5 cm, 7.5 cm for hole diameter of 7.5 cm and 5 cm for hole diameter of 10 cm. length of edge notch were changed in three different value i.e., 10%, 30% and 50% of glue length. Filling thickness were changed in three different value of 3 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm. Tensile strengths of glue and concrete were 2.37 MPa and 6.4 MPa, respectively. The load was applied at a constant rate of 1 kg/s. Results shows that hole diameter, length of edge notch, filling thickness and filling length have important effect on the tensile behavior of joint filling. In fixed glue thinks and fixed joint length, the tensile strength was decreased by increasing the hole diameter. Comparing the results showed that the strength, failure mechanism and fracture patterns obtained numerically and experimentally were similar for both cases.

  • This study was performed to determine the characteristics of particleboard made from three-months-old bamboo, (Phyllostachys nigra var henonis Stapf) grown in Damyang district, Korea. Total 60 particleboards were manufactured with 1% of liquid wax emulsion using urea-formaldehyde resin content 9%,11% and 13%, respectively. The particle boards consisted of three layers, in which face layer had the same proportion of a weight 25% of the particleboard each. And the core layer had a weight 50% of the board. The core layer and face layer had the particle dimension passing 6 mesh (3.35 mm), 12 mesh (1.70 mm), respectively. The study was carried out to determine the effect of the growing time of 3 months and 3 years on particleboard properties. The physical and mechanical properties of boards were measured and compared to the Korean standard (KS) requirements of particle boards. The results were as follows; 1. The longer the growing time, the higher the density of bamboo. Density of the upper part of bamboo showed higher than that of lower part. 2. Density and moisture content of the two particle boards did not show significant differences. Three-months-old bamboo particleboard gave higher thickness swelling than three-years-old bamboo particleboard. Bamboo particleboard passed the thickness swelling test of KS. 3. The static bending and internal bond strength of three-months-old bamboo particleboard were higher than those of three-years-old bamboo. Increase of resin contents in bamboo particleboard increased bending and internal bond strength, proportionally. Strength properties of bamboo particle board were above KS. 4. Formaldehyde emission of all the bamboo particleboards satisfied E2 level (5.0 mg/L) of KS F 3104.

  • 1. Objectives We are going to develope 3D Face Recognition Apparatus to analyse the facial characteristics of the Sasangin. In the process, we should identify the recognition rate of the three dimensional position using this Apparatus. 2. Methods We took a photograph of calibrator($280{\times}400mm$) with interval of 20mm longitudinal direction of 10 times using 3D Face Recognition Apparatus. In the practice, we obtained 967 point to the exclusion of points deviating from the visual field of dual camera. And we made a comparison between measurement values and three dimensional standard values to calculate the errors. 3. Results and Conclusions In this test, the average error rate of X axis values was 0.019% and the maximum error rate of X axis values was 0.033%, the average error rate of Y axis values was 0.025% and the maximum error rate of Y axis values was 0.044%, the average error rate of Z axis values was 0.158% and the maximum error rate of Z axis values was 0.269%. This results exhibit much improvement upon the average error rate 1% and the maximum error rate 2.242% of the existing 3D Recognition Apparatus. In conclusion, we assessed that this apparatus was adaptable to abstract the facial characteristic point from three dimensional face shape in the mechanical aspects.

  • In this paper, three axial accelerometer was used to develop a small sensor module, which was attached to human body to calculate the acceleration in gravity direction by human motion, when it was positioned in any direction. To measure its wearer's walking or running motion using the sensor module, the acquired sensor data was pre-processed to enable its quantitative analysis. The acquired digital data was transformed to orthogonal coordinate value in three dimension and calculated to be single scalar acceleration data in gravity direction and normalized to be physical unit value. The normalized sensor data was used to detect walking pattern and calculate their step counts. Developed algorithm was implemented in the form of PDA application. The accuracy of the developed sensor to detect step count was about 97% in laboratory experiment.

  • There are various research works on the spatio-temporal drought analysis because spatio-temporal behaviors of drought are essential for understanding the development and migration patterns of drought events. This study quantified three-dimensional drought events using the 6-month Standard Precipitation Index (SPI6). A total of 45 drought events were found during the analysis period, and the migration patterns of drought event in South Korea were analyzed using the centers of drought events. In South Korea, more droughts were migrated frequently in the north/south direction than in the east/west direction. In addition, droughts moving eastward have decreased since 2000, while droughts moving northward have been found to be longer. The results of spatio-temporal drought analysis may be highly utilized for understanding drought development and migration patterns.

  • Nowadays, three-dimensional computer added design(3D CAD) tool are widely and actively used for design of mechanical machine. Because using the tool is more effective to understand design concept and to collaborate with other operation than using two-dimensional design tool. In this study, the 3D CAD tool which is called I-DEAS was applied for three-dimensional modeling of main parts and assembling of modeled parts for identification the entire shape of a injection molding machine. In addition, a study was also performed regarding reduction for the weight of main plates for saving production cost and energy in the machine. A finite element method(FEM) program in I-DEAS tool was used for the improvement study. First, the current main plates were structural analysed and then the plate deformations, weak regions and stress distributions were graped. By the FEM results, the 2nd improved designing of the plates was conducted such as reinforcement or slimming of the plate wall thickness. The 2nd structural FEM was performed for verification of the redesigned plates and then the FEM results were compared with the 1st FEM's result. The weight of the main plates were averagely reduced approximately 3 - 7%. By these results, it was seemed that the improved plates have a useful availability.

  • Objective: To analyze the long-term changes in maxillary arch widths and buccal corridor ratios in orthodontic patients treated with and without premolar extractions. Methods: The study included 53 patients who were divided into the extraction (n = 28) and nonextraction (n = 25) groups. These patients had complete orthodontic records from the pretreatment (T1), posttreatment (T2), and postretention (T3) periods. Their mean retention and postretention times were 4 years 2 months and 17 years 8 months, respectively. Dental models and smiling photographs from all three periods were digitized to compare the changes in three dental arch width measurements and three buccal corridor ratios over time between the extraction and nonextraction groups. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance tests. Post-hoc multiple comparisons were made using Bonferroni correction. Results: Soft-tissue extension during smiling increased with age in both groups. The maximum dental width to smile width ratio (MDW/SW) also showed a favorable increase with treatment in both groups (p < 0.05), and remained virtually stable at T3 (p > 0.05). According to the MDW/SW ratio, the mean difference in the buccal corridor space of the two groups was $2.4{\pm}0.2%$ at T3. Additionally, no significant group ${\times}$ time interaction was found for any of the buccal corridor ratios studied. Conclusions: Premolar extractions did not negatively affect transverse maxillary arch widths and buccal corridor ratios. The long-term outcome of orthodontic treatment was comparable between the study groups.

  • Objective: This retrospective study compared the three-dimensional (3D) structure of mandibular condyles between adults with and without facial asymmetry, and whether it influences menton deviation. Methods: Sixty adult patients were classified into symmetry and asymmetry groups based on the menton deviation on postero-anterior radiographs. The right/left differences of 3D measurements were compared between the two groups, and measurements were compared separately on the right and left sides. The correlations between menton deviation and the right/left differences were analyzed. Results: The mediolateral dimension, neck length, condylar angles to the anteroposterior reference (PO) and midsagittal reference planes, and neck and head volumes showed significantly larger right/left differences in the asymmetry group compared to the symmetry group. Separate comparisons of the right and left sides between the two groups showed that the neck was significantly shorter and neck and head volumes were significantly smaller on the left side, which was deviated side in the asymmetry group. Pearson's correlation analysis showed significant positive correlations of menton deviation with right/left differences in neck length, condylar angle to the PO plane, and neck and head volumes in the asymmetry group. Conclusions: In individuals with facial asymmetry, menton deviation is associated with the right/left differences caused by a smaller condyle on the deviated side, particularly in neck length and neck and head volumes.

  • Because of earthquakes that have recently struck, seismic design criteria that considered performance of structure were included in the design concepts. Thus, a simple analysis tool is needed to predict the strength and ductility of RC structures. In this study, three-dimensional lattice model was developed to expand the two-dimensional lattice model. Torsional analysis of the structure was done to evaluate the developed three-dimensional lattice model. Lattice model was evaluated by comparing analytical results with experimental results. Lattice element size was evaluated using the results of analysis. Torsional analysis results, using three-dimensional lattice model, show that the results are relatively consistent with the experimental values.
