A fibered element for the material and geometric nonlinear analysis of three-dimensional reinforced and prestressed concrete frame is presented. The fibered frame element is idealized as an assemblage of concrete and reinforcing steel fibers in order to account for varied material properties within the cross section of the frame element through elastic, cracking and ultimated stages of materials. Prestressing tendon is modeled as an assemblage of multilinear prestressing steel segments each of which spans a frame element. The contribution of each prestressing steel is added directly to the fibered frame element. Numerical results from the ultimate analysis of three-dimensional PSC box girder are compared with those obtained from other investigator. The validity and the capability of the present nonlinear analysis model is well demonstrated.
Lately, ocean nuclear power plants have attracted attention as one of diverse uses of nuclear power plants. Because ocean nuclear power plants are movable or transportable, it is necessary to analyze the thermal hydraulics in a moving frame of reference, and computer codes have been developed to predict thermal hydraulics in large moving systems. The purpose of this study is to incorporate a three dimensional dynamic motion model into the SPACE code (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE) so that the code is able to analyze thermal hydraulics in an ocean nuclear power plant. A rotation system that describes three-dimensional rotations about an arbitrary axis was implemented, and modifications were made to the one-dimensional momentum equations to reflect the rectilinear and rotational acceleration effects. To demonstrate the code's ability to solve a problem utilizing a rotational frame of reference, code calculations were conducted on various conceptual problems in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional pipeline loops. In particular, the code results for the three-dimensional pipeline loop with a tilted rotation axis agreed well with the multi-dimensional CFD results.
The ultimate strength testing of a two-story, single-bay, and sway allowed space steel frame was performed. Considering a majority of large-scale frame tests in the past, only two-dimensional frames were experimentally studied. Therefore, three-dimensional experiment is needed to extend the knowledge of this field. The steel frame subjected to non-proportional vertical and horizontal load was tested. The load-displacement curve of the test frame is provided. The experiment results are useful for verification of the three-dimensional numerical analysis. The results obtained from 3D non-linear analysis using ABAQUS were compared with experimental data.
This paper presents a three dimensional modeling and simulations of operation and running of a wheel loader using the ADAMS program. A wheel loader consists of a bucket, a boom, a crank, a front frame, a rear frame, a bucket cylinder, two boom cylinders, two steering cylinders, nine spherical joints, six universal joints, five translation joints, three inline joints, a revolute and a fixed joint. Judging from the actual degrees of freedom of the wheel loader, proper kinematic joints are selected to exclude redundant constraints in the modeling. Through the running simulation over a bump with the three dimensional modeling, the joint reaction forces are calculated.
A comprehensive study on seismic performance of wood frame building in hilly regions is presented. Specifically, seismic fragility assessment of a typical wood frame building at various locations of the northeast region of India are demonstrated. A three-dimensional simplified model of the wood frame building is developed with due consideration to nonlinear behaviour of shear walls under lateral loads. In doing so, a trilinear model having improved capability to capture the force-deformation behaviour of shear walls including the strength degradation at higher deformations is proposed. The improved capability of the proposed model to capture the force-deformation behaviour of shear wall is validated by comparing with the existing experimental results. The structural demand values are obtained from nonlinear time history analysis (NLTHA) of the three-dimensional wood frame model considering the effect of uncertainty due to record to record variation of ground motions and structural parameters as well. The ground motion bins necessary for NLTHA are prepared based on the identified hazard level from probabilistic seismic hazard analysis of the considered locations. The maximum likelihood estimates of the lognormal fragility parameters are obtained from the observed failure cases and the seismic fragilities corresponding to different locations are estimated accordingly. The results of the numerical study show that the wood frame constructions commonly found in the region are likely to suffer minor cracking or damage in the shear walls under the earthquake occurrence corresponding to the estimated seismic hazard level; however, poses negligible risk against complete collapse of such structures.

Three dimensional (3D) video is expected to be an important application for broadcast and IP streaming services. One of the main limitations for the transmission of 3D video over IP networks is network bandwidth mismatch due to the large size of 3D data, which causes fatal decoding errors and mosaic-like damage. This paper presents a novel selective frame discard method to address the problem. The main idea of the proposed method is the symmetrical discard of the two dimensional (2D) video frame and the depth map frame. Also, the frames to be discarded are selected after additional consideration of the playback deadline, the network bandwidth, and the inter-frame dependency relationship within a group of pictures (GOP). It enables the efficient utilization of the network bandwidth and high quality 3D IPTV service. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method enhances the media quality of 3D video streaming even in the case of bad network conditions.
A three-dimensional panel system, which was offered as a new method for construction in Jordan using relatively high strength modular panels for walls and ceilings, is investigated in this paper. The panel consists of two steel meshes on both sides of an expanded polystyrene core and connected together with a truss wire to provide a 3D system. The top face of the ceiling panel was pored with regular concrete mix, while the bottom face and both faces of the wall panels were cast by shotcreting (dry process). To investigate the structural performance of this system, an extensive experimental testing program for ceiling and wall panels subjected to static and dynamic loadings was conducted. The load-deflection curves were obtained for beam and shear wall elements and wall elements under transverse and axial loads, respectively. Static and dynamic analyses were conducted, and the performance of the proposed structural system was evaluated and compared with a typical three dimensional reinforced concrete frame system for buildings of the same floor areas and number of floors. Compressive strength capacity of a ceiling panel is determined for gravity loads, while flexural capacity is determined under the effect of wind and seismic loading. It was found that, the strength and serviceability requirements could be easily satisfied for buildings constructed using the three-dimensional panel system. The 3D panel system is superior to that of conventional frame system in its dynamic performance, due to its high stiffness to mass ratio.
Three-dimensional (3D) human pose reconstruction from single-view image is a difficult and challenging topic. Existing approaches mostly process frame-by-frame independently while inter-frames are highly correlated in a sequence. In contrast, we introduce a novel spatial-temporal 3D human pose reconstruction framework that leverages both intra and inter-frame relationships in consecutive 2D pose sequences. Orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, pre-trained pose-angle limits and temporal models have been implemented. Several quantitative comparisons between our proposed framework and recent works have been studied on CMU motion capture dataset and Vietnamese traditional dance sequences. Our framework outperforms others by 10% lower of Euclidean reconstruction error and more robust against Gaussian noise. Additionally, it is also important to mention that our reconstructed 3D pose sequences are more natural and smoother than others.

In this paper, we introduce an efficient three-dimensional magnetic field mapping system for a Deflection Yoke (DY) in Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT). A three-axis Hall probe mounted in a small cylindrical bar and three stepping motors placed in a nonmagnetic frame are utilized for the mapping. Prior to the mapping starts, the inner contour of DY is measured by a laser sensor to make a look-up table for inner shape of DY. Three-axis magnetic fields are then digitized by a three-dimensional Hall probe. The results of the mapping can be transformed to various output formats such as multipole harmonics of magnetic fields. Field shape in one, two and three-dimensional spaces can also be displayed. In this paper, we present the features of this mapping device and show some analysis results.
