밀폐관형 열음향 냉동기의 주피수 및 압력변화 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Frequency and Pressure Variation of a Closed-tube-type Thermoacoustic Refrigerator)

  • A thermoacoustic refrigerator has not only considerable feasibility but also commercial usability, because it has high reliability, lower vibration, no moving part. and easy construction. In the present study, the resonant characteristics of a thermoacoustic refrigerator, varying the length of resonant tube from 400mm to 850mm, were investigated to improve performance. In order to determine the optimum position of the stack in the resonant tube and the optimum frequency, the simple open-tube-type thermoacoustic refrigerator was constructed. Air was used as a coolant. In the fifth harmonic, the largest $\DeltaT$ was $52.6^{\circ}C$ at 827Hz, tube length of 400mm, and stack length of 40mm.

  • Thermoacoustic oscillations (TAOs) are spontaneous pressure oscillations frequently seen in hydrogen or helium cryogenic systems. Half-open tubes connected to cryogenic fluid with a closed room temperature end have a high potential for oscillation generation. Thermoacoustic oscillations will result in significant pressure fluctuations and additional heat load, endangering the security and stability of the cryogenic system. The goal of this paper is to investigate TAOs in superfluid helium using both theoretical and experimental methods. Five half-open tubes with varied typical inner diameters inserted into superfluid helium were installed in a test cryostat. The onset characteristics of thermoacoustic oscillations were presented and studied. The effect of temperature profile was discussed. Finally, a simple eliminating method was introduced.

관형 연소기의 열 음향학적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Characteristics of thermoacoustic oscillation in ducted flame burner)

  • Combustion instability is a common phenomenon in a ducted flame burner and is known as accompanying low frequency oscillation. This is due to the interaction between unsteady heat release rate and sound pressure field, that is, thermoacoustic feedback. In Rayleigh criterion, combustion instability is triggered when the heat addition is in phase with acoustic oscillation. A Rijke type burner with a pre-mixed flame is built for investigating the effect of Reynolds number and equivalence ratio on thermoacoustic oscillation. The results suggest that the frequency of max, oscillation is dependent on Reynolds number and equivalence ratio whereas its magnitude is not a strong function of these two parameters.

열음향 해석 모델을 통한 가스터빈 연소기에서의 선형 안정성 분석 (Linear Stability Analysis in a Gas Turbine Combustor Using Thermoacoustic Models)

  • In this study, thermoacoustic analysis model was developed in order to predict both eigenfrequencies and initial growth rate of combustion instabilities for lean premixed gas turbine combustors. As a first step, a model combustor and nozzle were selected and analytical linear equations for thermoacoustic waves were derived for a given combustion system. Then, methods showing how the equations can be used for analysis of the combustion instability were suggested. It was found that the prediction results showed a good agreement with the measurements. However, there were some limitation in growth rate predictions, which were related with over-simplification of flame structure, acoustic boundary conditions, and temperature distribution in the combustor.

  • A thermoacoustic refrigerator, using a resonant standing acoustic wave, has been built. It employs a loudspeaker to sustain a standing wave in a resonance tube. The stack of plates is 0.075mm-thick plastic sheet(Mylar), spirally wound to make a 40mm-diameter assembly 80mm long. and two heat exchanger are installed. The refrigerant is Helium gas. The description of thermoacoustic refrigerator are presented. The directly measured performance of the resonator. Tc/Th ( temperature ratio ) and $COP/COP_{c}$, (normalized by carnot's COP ) are plotted versus the thermal load Q applied to the cold end, for various speaker power.

Rijke 튜브의 열음향학적 불안정 현상의 시스템 식별을 위한 실험 및 데이터 분석 (Experiment and data analysis for system identification of thermoacoustic instability in a Rijke tube)

  • 열음향학적 불안정성의 동역학적 저차 모델링 기법 개발을 위해 전기적으로 가열되는 Rijke 튜브 실험 장치를 구성하고, 불안정성으로 인해 발생되는 튜브 내의 압력 진동을 측정하였다. 측정된 데이터로부터 압력 신호의 주파수 스펙트럼을 분석한 결과 3개의 주요한 진동모드를 관측할 수 있었으며 특히 첫 번째 모드 주파수는 단순한 열음향학적 해석 결과와도 거의 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 실험 자료와 데이터 분석을 바탕으로 추후 열음향학적 불안정현상의 저차 모델링을 수행할 예정이다.

  • The thermal system like a combustion chamber is believed to experience a significant instability problem with vibration in case that the thermal energy or the acoustic energy are transformed into a different form through a relevant path. This study deals with a numerically- predicted, Thermoacoustic instability in a Rijke tube by using a non-linear model for a heat source. The heating part where the energy transformation occurs actively is modeled after simulating two-dimensional cylinder case with constant surface temperature, and a nonlinear model that accounts for the transfer function of magnitude- and phase-characteristics is properly implemented so as to be dependent on the pulsation strength in the tube. The heat source model is observed to result in equivalent Thermoacoustic instabilities in the Rijke tube except low flow-rate cases in which the natural convection is dominant.

  • Thermoacoustic refrigerators are operated with acoustic power to pump heat. The acoustic standing wave displaces the gas In the channels of the stack while compressing and expanding. The thermal interaction between the osillating gas he surface of the stack generates an acoustic heat pumping. in this study, a thermoacoustic refrigerator is composed of a resonator of 4cm diameter, stack of plates, heat exchangers and cooling part. Length of the hot heat exchangers, the stack of plates and the cold heat exchanger are 9mm, 8mm and 6mm respectively. Using helium as a coolant at frequency of 516Hz, the cold-part temperature of exchanger fell to $-19.0^{\circ}C$ after 1hours.

CFD Simulation of thermoacoustic oscillations in liquid helium cryogenic system

  • Thermoacoustic oscillations (TAOs) could be often observed in liquid helium cryogenic system especially in half-open tubes. These tubes have closed warm end (300K) and open cold end (usually 4.4K). This phenomenon significantly induces additional heat load to cryogenic system and other undesirable effects. This work focuses on using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method to study TAOs in liquid helium. The calculated physical model, numerical scheme and algorithm, and wall boundary conditions were introduced. The simulation results of onset process of thermoacoustic oscillations were presented and analyzed. In addition, other important characteristics including phase relation and frequency were studied. Moreover, comparisons between experiments and the CFD simulations were made, which demonstrated thevalidity of CFD simulation. CFD simulation can give us a better understanding of onset mechanism of TAOs and nonlinear characteristics in liquid helium cryogenic system.

열음향 공진 점화에 대한 연구 (Research about Thermoacoustic Resonance Ignition)

  • 초음속 유동의 운동에너지가 열에너지로 바뀌는 열음향 공진 현상을 활용하여 액체로켓엔진의 다중 점화를 위한 점화기 구현에 적용할 수 있다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 열음향 공진 현상의 기본 원리와 이론, 현재까지 진행된 주요 연구결과를 본문에 수록하였다. 열음향 공진 현상에 의한 열발생 특성은 초음속 노즐을 통해 분출되는 유동의 특성과 노즐과 공진관의 형상 그리고 에너지를 전달하는 기체의 종류에 의해 영향 받는다. 이와 같은 열음향 공진 현상을 적용한 액체로켓엔진을 위한 다중 점화기를 구성하는데 있어서 향후 연구 개발이 필요한 부분에 대한 논의를 진행하였다.
