  • For the first time, charge trapping nonvolatile semiconductor memories with the deoxidized oxynitride gate dielectric is proposed and demonstrated. Gate dielectric wit thickness of less than 1 nm have been grown by postnitridation of pregrown thermal silicon oxides in NO ambient and then reoxidation. The nitrogen distribution and chemical state due to NO anneal/reoxidation were investigated by M-SIMS, TOF-SIMS, AES depth profiles. When the NO anneal oxynitride film was reoxidized on the nitride film, the nitrogen at initial oxide interface not only moved toward initial oxide interface, but also diffused through the newly formed tunnel oxide by exchange for oxygen. The results of reoxidized oxynitride(ONO) film analysis exhibits that it is made up of SiO$_2$(blocking oxide)/N-rich SiON interface/Si-rich SiON(nitrogen diffused tunnel oxide)/Si substrate. In addition, the SiON and the S1$_2$NO Phase is distributed mainly near the tunnel oxide, and SiN phase is distributed mainly at tunnel oxide/Si substrate interface.

  • Anchors are primarily designed and constructed to resist outwardly directed loads imposed on the foundation of a structure. These outwardly directed loads are transmitted to the soil at a greater depth by the anchors. Buried anchors have been used for thousands of years to stabilize structures. Nowadays, various types of earth anchors are used for the uplift resistance of transmission towers, utility poles, submerged pipelines, and tunnels. Anchors are also used for the tieback resistance of earth-retaining structures, waterfront structures, at bends in pressure pipelines, and when it is necessary to control thermal stress. In this research we analyzed the uplift behavior of plate anchors in sand using a laboratory experiment to estimate the uplift behavior of plate anchors under various conditions. To achieve the research purpose, the uplift resistance and displacement characteristics of plate anchors caused by the embedment ratio, plate diameter, and loading rate were studied, compared, and analyzed in various cases.

  • Calcium metaphosphate (CMP) nanofibers with a diameter of ${\sim}600nm$ were prepared using electrospun CMP/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) fibers through a process of drying for 5 h in air followed by annealing for 1 h at $650^{\circ}C$ in a vacuum. The viscosity of the CMP/PVP precursor containing 0.15 g/ml of PVP was 76 cP. Thermal analysis results revealed that the fibers were crystallized at $569^{\circ}C$. The crystal phase of the as-annealed fiber was determined to be ${\delta}-CMP\;({\delta}-Ca(PO_3)_2)$. However, the morphology of the fibers changed from smooth and uniform (as-spun fibers) to linked-particle characteristics with a tubular form most likely due to the decomposition of the inner PVP matrix. It is expected that this large amount of available surface area has the potential to provide unusually high bioactivity and fast responses in clinical hard tissue applications.

  • Radiation degradation of crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE) was investigated using thermogravimetric analysis(TGA), The results of TGA were compared with FT-IR, melting temperature, oxidation induction time, and elongation at break on the XLPE exposed by $\gamma$-ray. 5% decomposition temperature of $\gamma$-ray irradiated XLPE showed similar tendencies with the case of elongation at break. Both properties agreed below 1000 KGy, however, did not show any remarkable characteristics above 1000 kGy, these properties can be useful to evaluate the radiation degradation of XLPE for only low irradiated region. Above 1000 kGy, the thermal decomposition activation energy showed decreased, on the contrary, increasing below 1000 kGy. Compared with FT-IR spectrum of irradiated XLPE, it was confirmed that the oxidation reaction was still occurring below 1000 kGy. Radiation degradation of XLPE was dependent upon the irradiation doses, TGA can be a useful tool to evaluate the degradation.

  • In this paper, we deal with the I -t characteristic of low voltage distribution fuse (line fuse). That fuse element has two parts; One is low temperature melting element(LTME) to put up with over current and the other is high temperature melting element (HTME) which put up with large current. Melting charateristic of fuse is determined by L TME and HTME. So we verified their properties of fuse design, mathematically, by simulating the thermal and electric characteristics of each other. We simulated the I-t characteristic of line fuse by using the numerical method;Finite Element Method(FEM). Then, we could acquire very similar result at the HTME and L TME area when compared the simlation result with experimental one.

  • In this paper, we analysed the properties change of electric wire when the thermal stress was applied to NFR-8 and FR-PVC [600] wire. Measurement is made of the attenuation of a light beam by smoke accumulating with in a closed chamber due to nonflamining pyrolytic decomposition and flaming combustion. Results are expressed in terms of specific optical density which is derived from a geometrical factor and the measured optical density a measurement characteristic of the concentration of smoke. Referenced documents were ASTM E662 standard test method for specific Ds generated by solid materials. The furnace control system shall maintain the required irradiance level under steady-state condition with the chamber door closed of 2.5${\pm}$0.04[w/$\textrm{cm}^2$] for 20 min. According to the results of the smoke density analysis of NFR-8 and FR-PVC the highest decomposition flaming smoke density range of NFR-8 and FR-PVC were 7.2 to 77.5 and 51.1 respectively. Nonflaming smoke density range of NFR-8 and FR-PVC were 100.4 to 112.2 and 126.5 to 398.8. The amount of carbon monoxide generated was found to be much higher in FR-PVC decomposition than in NFR-8 due to incomp1ete combustion of FR-PVC which has high content of carbon in compound.

  • A good school uniform leads students to good behavior and have them enjoy desirable school life. Therefore a better fabric for girls' high school uniform suggested through two series of studies; first, examined the various aspects of current uniforms. Second, made a new fabric for uniform considering elasticity for activity and comfortableness, and compared its characteristics with those of the current uniforms. The results are as follows; 1 Most of students wanted uniforms considering elasticity for activity and wearing. 2. The measurement of the elasticities of the uniform materials showed that the material which was made using the elastic material was more elastic than the currently used material by 42.12% in summer material and 20.05% in winter one. 3. The analysis using the combination of the values of mechanical properties showed that the elastic material was better in the wearing, tactile senses, and drape properties than the current material, even though it was a little worse in shape-stability. 4. To compare the thermal insulation, clo values were measured. For winter uniform, the elastic material was better than the current one in keeping warm. However, This study did not find any big difference between summer uniform materials.

  • Squeal noise is a typical brake noise that is annoying to both passengers and pedestrians. Its frequency range is fairly wide from 1 kHz to 18 kHz, which can be distressful to people. The brake squeal noise occurs due to various mechanisms, such as the mode coupling of the brake system, self-excited vibration, unstable wear, and others. In this study, several parameters involved in the generation of a squeal noise are investigated experimentally by using a brake noise dynamometer. The speed, caliper pressure, torque, and friction coefficient are measured as functions of time on the dynamometer. The contact pressure and temperature distributions of the disc and the pad are also measured by using a thermal imaging camera and a pressure mapping system. As a result of the simultaneous measurement of the friction coefficient and squeal amplitude as functions of the velocity, it is found that the onset of the squeal may be predicted from the ${\mu}-v$ curve. It is also found that a non-uniform contact pressure causes instability and, in turn, a squeal. Based on the analysis results, design modifications of the pad are suggested for improved noise characteristics.

  • Soil can be contaminated by radioactive materials due to nuclide leakage following unexpected situations during the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant. Soil decontamination is necessary if contaminated land is to be reused for housing or industry. The present study classifies various soil remediation technologies into biological, physics/chemical and thermal treatment and analyzes their principles and treatment materials. Among these methods, this study selects technologies and categorizes the economics, applicability and technical characteristics of each technology into three levels of high, medium and low by weighting the various factors. Based on this analysis, the most applicable soil decontamination technology was identified.

  • This paper presents a new single phase front-end ac-dc bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) rectifier topology. The proposed converter achieves a high efficiency over a wide range of input and output voltages, a high power factor, low line current harmonics and both step up and step down voltage conversions. This topology is based on a non-inverting buck-boost (Zeta) converter. In this approach, the input diode bridge is removed and a maximum of one diode conducts in a complete switching period. This reduces the conduction losses and the thermal stresses on the switches when compare to existing PFC topologies. Inherent power factor correction is achieved by operating the converter in the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) which leads to a simplified control circuit. The characteristics of the proposed design, principles of operation, steady state operation analysis, and control structure are described in this paper. An experimental prototype has been built to demonstrate the feasibility of the new converter. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the improved power quality at the AC mains and the lower conduction losses of the converter.
