A Study on the Thermal Characteristics of COB LED using Thermoelectric Element (열전소자를 이용한 COB LED의 열적 특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This paper was designed to analyze thermal properties using thermoelectric element for air-cooling heat dissipation of 13.2W-class COB LED. For comparative analysis with generally used air cooling methods, the heat sink was designed and produced, and this experiment was conducted to measure the temperature distribution using a contact thermometer while the COB LED was operating for 100 minutes. One result was about $75^{\circ}C$ for the general cooling method, and the other was $57^{\circ}C$ while the thermoelectric element was operating with applying the current of 0.8A to the thermoelectric element. This results confirmed that the method of applying thermoelectric element was much better in the dissipation of thermal condense on the COB LED than that of the general air cooling one. The temperature on the contact points of COB LED using thermoelectric element was decreased about 31% compared with the air cooling method from $75^{\circ}C$ to $57^{\circ}C$.

  • Co-ferrite was synthesized by HEBM (High Energy Ball Milling) with a stoichiometric (Co/Fe=0.5/2.5) mixture of CoO and $Fe_2O_3$ powders. The effect of milling time on the phase transformation of the mixture was investigated by XRD. Mono-phase solid solution of Co-ferrite, which was milled for 4 h and then calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ in the Ar atmosphere, was confirmed by XRD analysis. The composition and thermal reduction behavior of Co-ferrite were analyzed by TGA and XRF. As a result, oxygen deficient Co-ferrite was synthesized by HEBM and the weight decrease of the Co-ferrite, which was oxidized at $600^{\circ}C$ for 10h by $H_2O$ vapor, was 2.41 wt% during thermal reduction at $1300^{\circ}C$.

A Study on the Thermal Degradation Properties of Epoxy Resin for Cast Resin Transformer (몰드변압기용 에폭시 수지의 열 열화특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we measured a contact angle, surface resistivity and XPS to study the thermal aging characteristics of the epoxy resin for cast resin transformer. As a result of this experiment, we found that the contact angle increases up to $200^{\circ}C$ as it causes a re-crosslinking on the surface, but starts decreasing at $250^{\circ}C$ as it causes heat condensation. As a result of examining the oxygen/carbon peaks through the XPS analysis, we obtained a higher oxygen peak vs. carbon in the first untreated sample, but it showed the opposite trend after heat treatment. That rise in the carbon peak continued up to $200^{\circ}C$, but decreased again at the temperatures above. That's because it kept forming a stable surface structure up to $200^{\circ}C$ but its carbon combination got destroyed due to a rapid oxidization at $250^{\circ}C$. And a conduction path was formed easily with the hydrophile property caused by rapid surface activation.

  • In this study, the characteristics of cooling and rolling during strip casting process is obtained in comparison with the experimental and analytical results. The prupose of this study is to effectively analyze the thermal and mechanical deformation of roller applying the results of the heat transfer and the pressure distribution to boundary conditions. And then the relation between strip thickness and roll deformation is shown. The second purpose is to obtain the proper condition of the continuous casting for stainless steel. The summary and conclusions can be made on the basis of the results obtained by the theories and experiments. a) The strip casting condition for the fine surface quality of tin-alloy as-cast material was obtained in accordance with the velocity of roll rotation and initial roll gap. b) The experimental condition that the dimension of the cast strip thickness coincide with that of the initial roll gap was according to the experimental result of continuous casting by twin-roll type. c) The thermoelastic finite element model to calculate the roll deformation is represented. Thermoelastic model prediction for the roll deformation are in good agreement with the experimental results considering the thermal expansion of the roll. d) The higher cooling rates were obtained by a twin-roller quenching technique. Also quenched microstructure of the rapidly solidified shell was verified. e) The magnitude of roll deformation due to the thermal expansion and roll separating force is quantit- atively represented in the analysis of continuous casting for stainless steel.

  • We report the studies on the red organic phosphor by using perylene bisimide derivatives. Even though perylene bisimide derivatives have excellent thermal stability and luminous efficiency, they have low solubility in organic solvents. In this research, modified perylene bisimide derivative, N,N'-Bis(4-bromo-2, 6-diisopropylphenyl)-1, 6, 7, 12-tetraphenoxyperylene-3, 4, 9, 10-tetracarboxyl bisimide (1C), has been prepared by the reaction of phenol with N,N'-Bis(4-bromo-2, 6-diisopropylphenyl)-1, 6, 7, 12-tetrachloroperylene-3, 4, 9, 10-tetracarboxyl bisimide (1B) in presence of DMF, at $70^{\circ}C$. The synthesized (1C) was characterized by using $^1H-NMR$, FT-IR, UV/V is spectroscopy, and TGA. The absorbtion and emission of (1C) was shown at 576 nm and 610 nm in UV/V is spectrum. In TGA thermogram, (1C) showed good thermal stability without significant weight loss to $220^{\circ}C$. And in the solubility analysis, (1C) with phenoxy group showed the good solubility in general organic solvents. The blended films of (1C) with PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) at different weight % concentration such as 10, 5, 1 weight % have been prepared. The blended film was shown at 616 nm when monitored at 450 nm in PL emission spectra.

Fire Resistance and Thermal Stability Study of Fire-Retarded Polypropylene Systems by Using Cone Calorimeter and Thermogravimetry (콘 칼로리미터와 TGA를 이용한 할로겐 계통의 난연제를 첨가한 폴리프로필렌 수지의 난연성 및 열 안정성에 관한 연구)

  • Fire resistance and thermal stability of polypropylene composite systems were investigated by using several halogenated fire-retardants such as decabromodiphenyl oxide (DBDPO) and chlorinated paraffin wax (CPW). The fire resistance of composite systems was thoroughly examined by measuring limited oxygen index (LOI, ASTM D2863, ISO 4589) and characteristic properties of cone calorimetry(ASTM E1354, ISO 5660) heat release rates (HRR), time to ignition (TTI), total heat release (THR), effective heat of combustion (EHC), mass loss rates, etc. Comparing the cone calorimetry experimental results of the halogen flame retardants, DBDPO exhibited twice higher efficiency than CPW in polypropylene systems, and the LOI also showed similar trends to cone calorimetry. The thermo-oxidative stability of the composite systems was increased about 30-5$0^{\circ}C$ in thermogravimetry analysis.Collectively, the combustion, extinction and thermally-stable characteristics of flame retardants were identified in this study.

  • Ships, structures on the ocean, bridges, and other structures tend to be large by the development of industry. These ultra thick plate were welded with large heat input, which causes welding stresses, deformation and buckling, so it has to be considered the weld design, safety, reliability. The welded residual stresses were produced and redistributed due to the effect of large heat input. The mechanical phenomenon has not been surely identified yet. In spite of the lack of the study on the box column, there are various types of steel frame such as I type, H type, + type and $\bigcirc$ type, used in high story building. In this study, we performed computer simulation with two dimensional heat conduction and plane deformation thermal elasto-plastic finite element computer program as changing the plate thickness to 100mm, 150mm and groove angle to $60^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$ of corner joint in box column. And then, to identify mechanical phenomenon such as the phenomenon of thermal distribution, welding residual stresses and deformation and to decide optimum groove angle and welding condition. The main conclusion can be summarized as follows: 1) Since the groove angle has became cooling down rapidly due to its smaller value, the temperature slope was steeped somewhat. 2) The tensile stress within the welding direction stresses was somewhat decreased at the weld metal and HAZ, increasing of the groove angle. 3) The local stress concentration of the groove angle $60^{\circ}C$ was appeared smaller than groove angle $30^{\circ}$.

  • In this study, poly(arylene ether sulfone) (PAES) having thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties was synthesized to be useful for the matrix of anion exchange resin. $1^{\circ}$-Aminated poly(arylene ether sulfone) ($1^{\circ}$-APAES) was prepared by reduction reaction after lithiation of PAES. Then $3^{\circ}$-APAES was Prepared by alkylation of the amino group of $1^{\circ}$-APAES. The structures of PAES and APAESs were confirmed with FT-IR and $^1H-NMR$ spectroscopy. Also, thermal properties of the resins were characterized by DSC and TG analysis. The introduction of amine groups in PAES resulted in the increase of glass transition temperature and decrease of initial thermal degradation temperature. The ion exchange capacities of $1^{\circ}$-APAES and $1^{\circ}$-APAES were 1.19 and 1.45 meq/g, respectively.

Rapid Thermal Annealing for Ag Layers on SiO2 Coated Metal Foils (이산화규소 증착된 스테인레스 기판위에 형성된 은 금속 박막의 급속 열처리에 대한 효과)

  • This study examined the effects of rapid thermal annealing (RTA) on the physical and chemical characteristics of thin silver (Ag) layers on SiO2 coated metal foils. Ag layers were annealed at various temperatures of the range between 150 ℃ and 550 ℃ for 20 min. The surface roughness and resistivity are increased at the annealing temperatures of 550 ℃. We also found that oxygen (O) and silicon (Si) atoms exist at the Ag film surface by using compositional analysis in the annealing temperatures of 550 ℃. The total reflectance is decreased with increasing temperature. These phenomena are due to an out-diffusion of Si atoms from SiO2 layers during the RTA annealing. The results offer the possibility of using it as a substrate for various flexible optoelectronic devices.

Analysis of thermal properties of the photo polymer hologram for practical applications (포토폴리머 홀로그램의 실용적 응용을 위한 그 열적 특성 분석)

  • This paper presents the thermal characteristics of a Bragg grating recorded in photopolymer. We record hologram gratings using a 532 nm Nd : YAG laser in DuPont HRF 150-38 photopolymer films and analyze the diffraction efficiency versus thermal exposure conditions. For the case of recording after heating, the diffraction efficiency of the hologram is more than $70\%$ at $100^{\circ}C$ but is decreased exponentially at temperatures over $100^{\circ}C$. It is observed in the recording before heating that the diffraction efficiency of the hologram fixed by a UV light is increased to approximately $10\%$ at $100^{\circ}C$, but the holograms are erased at temperatures over $120^{\circ}C$.
