LPPS용사법과 HVOF 용사법으로 제조된 CoNiCrAlY 코팅의 고온물성에 관한 연구 (A study on the high temperature properties of CoNiCrAlY coating fabricated by HVOF and LPPS process)

  • A Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) can play an important role in protecting parts from harmful environments at high temperatures such as oxidation, corrosion, and wear in order to improve the efficiency of aircraft engines by lowering the surface temperature of the turbine blade. The TBC can increase the life span of the product and improve the operating properties. Therefore, in this study the mechanical and thermal properties of the TBC such as oxidation, fatigue and shock at high temperatures were evaluated. A samples of a bond coat (CoNiCrAlY) produced by the High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) and Low Pressure Plasma Spray (LPPS) method were used. The thickness of the HVOF coating layer was approximately $450\mu\textrm{m}$ to 500$\mu\textrm{m}$ and the hardness number of the coating layer was between 350Hv and 400Hv. The thickness of the LPPS coating was about 350$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 400$\mu\textrm{m}$ and the hardness number of the coating was about 370Hv to 420Hv. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that CoNiCrAlY coating layer of the HVOF and LPPS was composed of the $\beta$and ${\gamma}$phase. After the high temperature oxidation test, the oxide scale with about l0$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 20$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness appeared at the coating surface on the Al-depleted zone was observed under the oxide scale layer.

PZT 세라믹 레조네이터 무연솔더 접합부의 열-기계적 피로 가속수명 (Accelerated Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue Life of Pb-Free Solder Joints for PZT Ceramic Resonator)

  • In this study, we optimized Pb-free Sn/Ni plating thickness and conditions were optimized to counteract the environmental regulations, such as RoHS and ELV(End-of Life Vehicles). The $B_{10}$ life verification method was also suggested to have been successful when used with the accelerated life test(ALT) for assessing Pb-free solder joint life of piezoelectric (PZT) ceramic resonator. In order to evaluate the solder joint life, a modified Norris-Landzberg equation and a Coffin-Manson equation were utilized. Test vehicles that were composed of 2520 PZT ceramic resonator on FR-4 PCB with Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu for ALT were manufactured as well. Thermal shock test was conducted with 1,500 cycles from $(-40{\pm}2)^{\circ}C$ to $(120{\pm}2)^{\circ}C$, and 30 minutes dwell time at each temperature, respectively. It was discovered that the thermal shock test is a very useful method in introducing the CTE mismatch caused by thermo-mechanical stress at the solder joints. The resonance frequency of test components was measured and observed the microsection views were also observed to confirm the crack generation of the solder joints.

Autofrettage effects on strength and deformation of fiber reinforced pressure vessel

  • Based on the composite finite element simulation and a series of hydrostatic pressure and burst tests, autofrettage effects on strength and deformation of fiber reinforced pressure vessel with metallic liners have been studied in the paper (autofrettage: during the course of one pressure taking effect, the increasing internal stress in metallic liner can surpass the yielding point and the plastic deformation will happen, which result in that when there is no internal pressure, there are press stress in liner while tensile stress in fiber lamination). By making use of a composite finite element Ansys code and a series of experiments, the autofrettage pressure is determined in order to make the aluminium liner be totally in elastic state, under given hydrostatic test pressure. The stress intensity factors of the longitudinal crack in aluminum liner end under internal pressure and thermal loads have been computed and analyzed before and after the autofrettage processing. Through numerical calculation and experiment investigations, it is found that a correct choice for autofrettage pressure can improve the gas-tightness and fatigue strength of FRP vessel.

Research of Diffusion Bonding of Tungsten/Copper and Their Properties under High Heat Flux

  • W (tungsten)-alloys will be the most promising plasma facing armor materials in highly loaded plasma interactive components of the next step fusion reactors due to its high melting point, high sputtering resistance and low deuterium/tritium retention. The bonding technology of tungsten to Cu alloy was one of the key issues. In this paper, W/CuCrZr diffusion bonding has been performed successfully by inserting pure metal interlay. The joint microstructure, interfacial elements migration and phase composition were analyzed by SEM, EDS, XRD, and the joint shear strength and micro-hardness were investigated. The mock-ups were fabricated successfully with diffusion bonding and the cladding technology respectively, and the high heat flux test and thermal fatigue test were carried out under actively cooling condition. When Ni foil was used for the bonding of tungsten to CuCrZr, two reaction layers, Ni4W and Ni(W) layer, appeared between the tungsten and Ni interlayer with the optimized condition. Even though Ni4W is hard and brittle, and the strength of the joint was oppositely increased (217 MPa) due primarily to extremely small thicknesses (2~3 ${\mu}m$). When Ti foil was selected as the interlayer, the Ti foil diffused quickly with Cu and was transformed into liquid phase at $1,000^{\circ}C$. Almost all of the liquid was extruded out of the interface zone under bonding pressure, and an extremely thin residual layer (1~2 ${\mu}m$) of the liquid phase was retained between the tungsten and CuCrZr, which shear strength exceeded 160 MPa. When Ni/Ti/Ni multiple interlayers were used for bonding of tungsten to CuCrZr, a large number of intermetallic compound ($Ni_4W/NiTi_2/NiTi/Ni_3T$) were formed for the interdiffusion among W, Ni and Ti. Therefore, the shear strength of the joint was low and just about 85 MPa. The residual stresses in the clad samples with flat, arc, rectangle and trapezoid interface were estimated by Finite Element Analysis. The simulation results show that the flat clad sample was subjected maximum residual stress at the edge of the interface, which could be cracked at the edge and propagated along the interface. As for the rectangle and trapezoid interface, the residual stresses of the interface were lower than that of the flat interface, and the interface of the arc clad sample have lowest residual stress and all of the residual stress with arc interface were divided into different grooved zones, so the probabilities of cracking and propagation were lower than other interfaces. The residual stresses of the mock-ups under high heat flux of 10 $MW/m^2$ were estimated by Finite Element Analysis. The tungsten of the flat interfaces was subjected to tensile stresses (positive $S_x$), and the CuCrZr was subjected to compressive stresses (negative $S_x$). If the interface have a little microcrack, the tungsten of joint was more liable to propagate than the CuCrZr due to the brittle of the tungsten. However, when the flat interface was substituted by arc interfaces, the periodical residual stresses in the joining region were either released or formed a stress field prohibiting the growth or nucleation of the interfacial cracks. Thermal fatigue tests were performed on the mock-ups of flat and arc interface under the heat flux of 10 $MW/m^2$ with the cooling water velocity of 10 m/s. After thermal cycle experiments, a large number of microcracks appeared at the tungsten substrate due to large radial tensile stress on the flat mock-up. The defects would largely affect the heat transfer capability and the structure reliability of the mock-up. As for the arc mock-up, even though some microcracks were found at the interface of the regions, all microcracks with arc interface were divided into different arc-grooved zones, so the propagation of microcracks is difficult.

고압터빈 노즐에서 입구온도분포와 장착조건에 따른 저주기 피로 수명 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on Variations of the Low Cycle Fatigue Life of a High Pressure Turbine Nozzle Caused by Inlet Temperature Profiles and Installation Conditions)

  • 항공기 및 엔진의 성능 극대화와 운용 유지비 최소화로 인하여 고압터빈 구성품은 점점 더 가혹한 환경에서 장시간 운용을 요구 받고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 냉각 극대화, 재료의 고급화, 코팅 기술 적용 등과 함께 재료 모델링, 유한요소해석, 통계적 기법 등의 수치적 해석 방법이 광범위하게 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 일방향 응고 재료의 1 단 고압터빈 노즐의 운용 환경인 터빈 노즐 입구온도분포와 장착조건의 변화에 따른 노즐의 구조 건전성을 저주기 피로 수명을 통해 평가하고 가장 유리한 조건을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 냉각 설계에 의한 노즐의 금속 온도 분포는 복합 열전달 해석을 통해 얻으며, 이를 근거로 탄소성 해석을 수행하고 그 결과를 기초로 저주기 피로 수명을 평가하였다.

열 노출에 의한 IN738LC의 기계적 특성 및 미세조직 변화 (Mechanical Properties and Changes in Microstructure for IN738LC with Thermal Exposure)

  • 니켈기 초내열합금은 높은 강도, 피로 및 산화 저항성이 우수하여 비행기 엔진, 선박 엔진 및 발전용 가스터빈 고온 부품 등을 만드는 소재로 오래전부터 사용되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 가스터빈 블레이드 소재인 니켈기 초내열합금 IN738LC에 대하여 실제 운전환경과 유사한 조건을 설정하여 다양한 변형률 범위와 온도에서 인장시험을 수행하였다. IN738LC 소재를 $871^{\circ}C$$982^{\circ}C$에서 각각 1,000 ~ 10,000 시간 동안 열 노출한 시편을 준비하여 기계적 특성 및 미세조직 변화를 관찰하였다. 기계적 특성 변화는 열 노출 시간에 따른 ${\gamma}$의 변화와 관련된 것을 확인하였다.

$\mu$BGA 솔더 접합부의 최적 형상 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Shape Prediction of $\mu$BGA Solder Joints)

  • 본 연구에서 솔더 접합부의 최적 형상을 예측하는 몇 가지 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 솔더 접합부 형상 예측법에는 Truncated Sphere법, 힘-평형 해석법(force-balanced analytical method), Ken Brakke에 의해 개발된 Surface Evolver등이 있다. 이상의 형상 예측법 붕 본 연구에서는 Truncated Sphere 법과 SurfaceEvolver를 사용하여 $\mu$BGA치 솔더 접합부의 형상을 예측하고, 결과를 비교하였다. 그 결과 Truncated Sphere법과 SurfaceEvolve가 제시하는 두 가지의 형상은 아주 작은 오차를 두고 거의 일치함을 확인하였다. 또한, 형상 예측법이 제시한 형상의 신뢰성을 검증하기 위하여, FEA 프로그램인 ANSYS(version5.62)를 이용하여 대상 형상에 열 사이클 시험을 실시하였다. 해석 결과, 형상 예측법이 제시한 형상이 임의 오차를 가한 다른 형상에 비하여 가장 좋은 신뢰성을 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

열 및 기계적 반복하중 하의 내열금속 표면 홀 주변 산화막의 변형 및 응력해석 (Cracking Near a Hole on a Heat- Resistant Alloy Subjected to Thermo-Mechanical Cycling)

  • 가스터빈엔진 내의 블레이드에서는 표면에 외부의 찬 공기를 흘려주는 작은 냉각 홀들을 가공하고 열 차단 코팅시스템을 코팅하는 방법으로 기지금속을 고온에서 보호한다. 열 차단 코팅은 열피로 과정에서 산화막의 성장 및 접합층과 산화막의 열팽창계수의 불일치로 산화막내부에 잔류응력이 발생하며 궁극적으로 코팅층의 분리를 유발한다. 본 연구에서는 내열합금 시편 표면에 작은 홀을 가공하여 여러 가지 고온 유지 조건에서 열 및 기계적 피로 시험을 수행하여 홀 주위의 산화막의 변형을 관찰하였다. 실험결과 기계적 피로가 홀 주위의 산화막의 변형에 중요한 영향을 미치며, 동일한 산화막 두께에서 고온 유지 시간이 짧을수록 변형이 쉽게 발생 하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 홀 주위 산화막의 응력해석을 위한 이론적인 연구도 시도되었다.

Validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics Calculation Using Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model Flow Measurements in Primary Loop of Coolant in a Pressurized Water Reactor Model

  • The aim of this work is to simulate the thermohydraulic consequences of a main steam line break and to compare the obtained results with Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model (ROCOM) 1.1 experimental results. The objective is to utilize data from steady-state mixing experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations to determine the flow distribution and the effect of thermal mixing phenomena in the primary loops for the improvement of normal operation conditions and structural integrity assessment of pressurized water reactors. The numerical model of ROCOM was developed using the FLUENT code. The positions of the inlet and outlet boundary conditions and the distribution of detailed velocity/turbulence parameters were determined by preliminary calculations. The temperature fields of transient calculation were averaged in time and compared with time-averaged experimental data. The perforated barrel under the core inlet homogenizes the flow, and therefore, a uniform temperature distribution is formed in the pressure vessel bottom. The calculated and measured values of lowest temperature were equal. The inlet temperature is an essential parameter for safety assessment. The calculation predicts precisely the experimental results at the core inlet central region. CFD results showed a good agreement (both qualitatively and quantitatively) with experimental results.

가스터빈 블레이드 열차폐코팅의 곡률에 따른 기계적 특성 평가 (Evaluation of the Mechanical Characteristics According to the Curvature of Thermal Barrier Coating)

  • 열차폐 코팅은 고온 화염의 열이 블레이드의 모재에 직접 전달되는 것을 막는 역할을 하며, 세라믹 재질의 탑코팅층과 금속 모재간 결합력을 증가시켜주는 본드코팅층으로 이루어져있다. 이러한 열차폐 코팅 기술로 인하여 블레이드 표면의 온도가 화염온도에 비해 약 $100{\sim}170^{\circ}C$정도 낮아지게 된다. 이러한 열차폐 코팅은 금속모재와 코팅층의 열팽창 계수의 차이로 인해 내부 응력이 발생하게 되며, 블레이드의 형상 및 위치에 따라 발생하는 응력이 다르다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 열차폐코팅의 내구성 시험에 보편적으로 사용되는 코인형 시험편에 대하여 모재의 곡률에 따른 유한요소해석을 수행하고 열차폐 코팅에서 발생하는 내부 응력변화를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 탑코팅에 최저응력이 발생할 때의 곡률을 도출하였고 최저응력에서의 곡률과 차이가 커질수록 발생하는 응력이 커짐을 확인하였다.
