The aim of this study was to analysis the Heating/cooling performance of Solar Window built in apartments. The solar window is the idea to integrate daylight as a third form of solar energy into a PV/Solar Collector system and allows more control due to the possibility to close the reflectors. However, there can be a conflict between the desire for on one hand daylight and view and on the other hand optimal energy conversion for the PV/Solar Collector system. The process of this study is as follows: 1) The Solar Window system is designed through the investigation of previous paper and work. 2)The simulation program(ESP-r, Therm5.0, Window6.0) was used in Heating/cooling performance analysis. The reference model of simulation was made up to analysis Heating/cooling performance on Solar Window. 3)Selected reference model(Floors:15, Area of Unit:$148.5m^2$) for heating energy analysis, Energy performance simulation with various variants, such as U-value of Solar Window system according to its position and angle. Consequently, When Solar Window system is equipped with balcony window of Apartment, Annual heating and cooling energy of reference model was cut down about 5%~11%.
The increasing of power and processing speed and miniaturization of central processor unit (CPU) used in electronics equipment requires better performing thermal management systems. A typical thermal management package consists of thermal interfaces, heat dissipaters, and external cooling systems. There have been a number of experimental techniques and procedures for estimating thermal conductivity of thin, compressible thermal interface material (TIM). The TIM performance is affected by many factors and thus TIM should be evaluated under specified application conditions. In compact packaging of electronic equipment the chip is interfaced with a thin heat spreader. As the package is made thinner, the coupling between heat flow through TIM and that in the heat spreader becomes stronger. Thus, a TIM characterization system for considering the heat spreader effect is proposed and demonstrated in detail in this paper. The TIM test apparatus developed based on ASTM D-5470 standard for thermal interface resistance measurement of high performance TIM, including the precise measurement of changes in in-situ materials thickness. Thermal impedances are measured and compared for different directions of heat dissipation. The measurement of the TIM under the practical conditions can thus be used as the thermal criteria for the TIM selection.
Genera and number of protozoa were investigated in the conventional activated sludge pilot plant used for the treatment of municipal sewage and pre-treated night soil-containing sewage. In both case, the predominant protozoa was ciliates and among them Vorticella was the most common. In the pilot plant where pre-treated night soil was mixed with municipal sewage, genera of free-swimming ciliates, flagellates and amoeba was higher than in those withour night soil. Correlation analysis on the quality of effluent and protozoa indicates that municipal sewage has positive correlation with protozoa. However in the pilot plan 샐 sewage contatinin pre-treated night coil soil more samples show negative correlation. Followed equations were derived by the regression analysis of BOD in both the pilot plants. In case of pilot plant A of municipal sewage, the analysis B of munici-pal and pre-treated night soil-containing sewage, the analysis of BOD was $6.731$\times$10_{-2}$$\times$Bodo+0.306(Adjusted $R^2$=0.864). At low temperature, number of protozoa was decreased to 35% and among therm, Aspidisca was the most common genus. Therefore, protozoa can be used as indicator of quality of the effluent in sewage treatment plants.
In order to examine the effect of humidity on hydrogen embrittlement of STS 444 weld zone for boiler with dry and wet welding conditions, this paper was carried out the accelerated hydrogen osmosis test and the electrochemical Tafel polarization test. In 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ + 0.01M $As_20_3$ solution, this test is added to load of $1400kg/cm^2$ together with hydrogen osmosis by current of $50 {mA/cm^2}$ for 60 min.. The electrochemical Tafel polarization test was carried out in 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ + 0.01M $As_20_3$ solution. Therefore, the effect of humidity on hydrogen embrittlement of STS 444 was considered. The main results are as following: On the basis of hydrogen embrittlement mechanism, that is, integrated electrochemical polarization characteristics with the established mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement, the reduction rate of corrosion current density of weld zone in the wet weld condition is larger than in the dry condition. We can nondestructively predict the degree of hydrogen embrittlement of STS 444 weld zone for boiler through the reduction rate of electrochemical corrosion current density.
Experimental study has been carried out on the characteristics of pressure drop and heat transfer of brazed plate heat exchangers using R-22. Data are presented for the following range of variables: the mass flux (40∼90kg/$m^2$s), chevron angle ($20^{\circ}$, $35^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$) and inlet pressure of the refrigerant (1.4 and 1.6MPa). For both subcooled and two-phase flow, as chevron angle increases, pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient decrease. Condensation heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop were compared with the previously proposed correlations. Among therm, Traviss correlation agreed with experimental results within -40%∼-84% for heat transfer coefficient and -59%∼62% for pressure drop.
Effects of the addition of \beta-glucanase to barley-based layer diets were examined by feeding 200 Leghorn layers with corn-based (Control) and \beta-glucanase supplemented diets (Barley+ Enzyme). The results obtained are sumrrarized as follows. 1. There were no siginificant (P>0.05) differences in hen-day egg production(%) and average egg weight between two treatments, indicating that the \beta-glucanase supplemented barley could successfully replace the commonly used corn in the layer diets. 2. Although there was no statistical difference (P>0.05) between two treatments, the daily feed consumption was numerically high in layers fed the barly diet compared to the corn-based diet. 3. Availabilities of crude fat and crude fiber of the barley diet were significantly poor (P<0.05) as compared to corn diet. 4. The \beta-glucarase supplementation depressed the viscosity of barley diets and excreta from therm. 5. Both serum and egg yolk cholesterol were not significantly affected by the addition of \beta-glucarase in the barley based diet. Our data indicate that the barley grain supplemented with \beta-glucarase can be sucessfully used as an energy source of layer diet when there is a price advantage. Although some possibilities to produce low cholesterol egg were recognized in this study, further studies pertaining to long-term feeding experiment and elucidaton of the metabolic interrelationship between serum and yolk cholesterol, are required to confirm the result.
In case of newly constructed buildings, the construction type is almost Curtain-wall system or large window in building skin. However, these kind of buildings have problems with regulations on building energy efficiency. And national regulations on building energy efficiency limit only the V-factor of window(except infiltration), it is hard to predict energy consumption of Curtain-wall buildings which gain large solar energy in summer. In this study, the influence of LSG(Light to Solar Gain) on energy performance was theoretically analyzed with simulation. LSG is the value of VLT divide SHGC and represents the optical performance of the glass or glazing. The Window & Therm program developed in LBNL was used to analyze window systems and EnergyPlus was used to building energy. Cases of glazing are three types; single coated Low-e clear glazing, tripple coated Low-e clear glazing, tripple coated Low-e tinted glazing. The results of this study are follows; 1) The building energy consumption of Alt-l, 2, 3 were about 300, 253, $259kWh/m^2{\cdot}yr$ respectively. Therefore, improvement of LSG could save the energy up to 16%. 2) The saved energy could be converted 1 billion won as annual benefit of total energy costs 3) SHGC and LSG more influence on cooling energy than heating energy in office buildings.
Since the neural network was introduced, significant progress has been made on data handling and learning algorithms. Currently, the most popular learning algorithm in neural network training is feed forward error back-propagation (FFEBP) algorithm. Aside from the success of the FFEBP algorithm, polynomial neural networks (PNN) learning has been proposed as a new learning method. The PNN learning is a self-organizing process designed to determine an appropriate set of Ivakhnenko polynomials that allow the activation of many neurons to achieve a desired state of activation that mimics a given set of sampled patterns. These neurons are interconnected in such a way that the knowledge is stored in Ivakhnenko coefficients. In this paper, the PNN model has been developed using the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) experimental data. To characterize the PECVD process using PNN, SiO$_2$films deposited under varying conditions were analyzed using fractional factorial experimental design with three center points. Parameters varied in these experiments included substrate temperature, pressure, RF power, silane flow rate and nitrous oxide flow rate. Approximately five microns of SiO$_2$were deposited on (100) silicon wafers in a Plasma-Therm 700 series PECVD system at 13.56 MHz.
The purpose of this research is revise the value yield to compensate of measure the difference between computer simulation and the measurement value on the two methods which can calculates thermal performance. The way is need to understand about thermal performance, air tightness, simulations and comparisons of analysis to influence the value of each identified. The opening type of the windows and doors to be used at the analysis are T/T, L/S and SL Different condition of the windows and doors excluded except the opening type. Each of the four samples was selected by the way of opening. Result of the analysis of the difference between measurement and simulation are that T/T approach 5.3%, L/S approach 15.7%, SL approach 21% and the more air-tightness guarantees less difference of the numerical value. Each compensation value calculates by the correlation regression analysis and the air-tightness data. After the compensation of the resulting difference in T/T, L/S, SL indicate 5.4%, 2.5%, 1.0% respectively.
Mg and Mg-based alloys are most important hydrogen storage materials. It is a lightweight and low-cost materials with high hydrogen storage capacity. However, the formation of hydride at high temperature, the deterioration effect, the hydriding and dehydriding kinetics are bad factor for application. In this study, Mg and Ni have been produced by hydrogen induced mechanical alloying(HIMA) process. The raw materials, Mg(purity 99.9%) chip and Ni(purity 99.95%) chip was prepared by using a planetary ball mill apparatus(FRITSCH pulverisette 5). The balls to chips mass ratio(BCR) are 30:1. The hydrogen pressure induced 2.0MPa and milling times were 12, 24, 48, 72, 96 hours with a rotating speed of 200rpm. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis was made to characterize the crystallite size and misfit strain. The crystallite size measured by laser particle size analysis(PSA). Microstructure changes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and the transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The hydrogen storage properties were evaluated by using an Sivert's type automatic pressure-composition-therm(PCT) apparatus.
