The purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanism by which environmental pH alters the radiation-induced expression of p53, the key regulator of cellular responses to radiation. We have already reported that an acidic environment markedly prolongs the radiation-induced expression of p53 and also prolongs the radiation-induced G2/M arrest.(omitted)
This study is research on physical health and mental health(physical and mental symptom at school) in perceived school environment among adolescents. The study subjects ere selected by senior high school students in seoul and random sampling. The 3,060 subjects were selected 18 schools. The duration for survey was for Nov. 25-Dec. 13, 1998. The reliability of Questionnaire was Cronbach's $\alpha=0.95$. This study used multiple regression through Factor Analysis in SPSS programs. The major findings of this study are as follows: (1) All of Multiple Regression Models were significant. (p<0.001). (2) Physical Mental health is related to gender, personal environment, and economic status. (3) Physical Health is related to perceived school environmental variable (therapeutic teacher-student relationships, classrom climate, and school life satisfaction) among adolescents. (4) Mental Health is related to perceived school environment variables(therapeutic teacher-student relationships, classroom climate, school life satisfaction, teachers' climate, and classmates' attitudes) among adolescents. This study could be used as the basis for the development of educational program, counseling, teacher in-service training, student teacher training and the establishment of educational and health policy.
The forest landscape has been considered to be one of the most beneficial factors, in regard to facilitating the therapeutic effects of the forest environment. The aim of this study was to review the preceding literary works on the correlation between forest landscape and its therapeutic effects and to ponder on key factors of forest landscape that promotes therapeutic results on people's psychological and physiological responses. Literature found in domestic research databases was analyzed and examined in accordance with the 'Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRISMA)' process. Six papers out of 1,890 were selected as key literature to support the connection. The quality of forest landscape was found to be an integral environmental factor in determining the healing effects of forests. In particular, several factors, including forest types, aquatic elements within the forest landscape, forest-use density and aesthetic elements of forest landscape were found to be crucial for enhancing the therapeutic effects on people's wellbeing. Despite the limited sample groups in the analyzed literature, the results offered a significant insight in supporting the healing effects of forests. Further studies on this subject are required to provide more scientific data for verifying the quality of the therapeutic effects of forests.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop a daylighting design indicator for Korean dementia nursing homes based on the therapeutic effects of light, focusing on the serious aging index facing Korea and the importance of natural light that occupies the most important position in the therapeutic environments for the elderly with dementia. Methods: A wide range of literature-oriented research methods were mobilized to develop the daylighting design indicator of Korean dementia nursing homes. Results: The daylighting design indicator of Korean dementia nursing homes was derived from three perspectives: maximizing daylight availability, optimizing therapeutic view, and minimizing glare. In addition, eighteen basic indicators were derived within seven indicator items in the range of building layout, windows, glazing, shading devices, spaces, interior finishings, and daylight factor. Implications: The daylighting design indicator of Korean dementia nursing homes revealed in this study will contribute to realizing Korean dementia nursing homes as a therapeutic environment for the elderly with dementia.

Purpose: This study examines the daylighting design factors of Korean dementia nursing homes, in order to realize a therapeutic environment based on the therapeutic effect of light in the rapidly aging trend with an huge increase in the population of dementia in Korea. Methods: Through literature reviews, this study aims to theoretically examine the therapeutic light environment for the elderly with dementia, derive daylighting design factors of Korean dementia nursing homes, and analyze their detailed design factors. Results: The result of this study can be summarized into two points. The first one is that the daylighting design factors reflected in dementia nursing homes are derived into six factors: building layout, windows, glazing, shading devices, spaces, and interior finishings that determine the availability of daylight. The second one is that the detailed daylighting design factors are shown as primary and secondary detailed design factors, and the main values to be considered when applying these factors into dementia nursing homes are analyzed as maximizing daylight availability, optimization of the possibility of therapeutic view, and anti-glare. Implications: The daylighting design factors will contribute to maximizing the availability of daylight, optimizing the possibility of view, and minimizing the glare in the living spaces of dementia nursing homes in Korea.
Signal transduction refers to the processes by which cells perceive the environment and/or internal status. In many physiological responses, cellular signals are activated by the transducers attached to the cell surface plasma membrane in response to chemical modulators. Advances in information technology are required in the pharmaceutical sciences to screen and explore the potential therapeutic agents. (omitted)

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of forest environment and therapeutic program to the patients with major depressive disorder in antidepressant medication. The first group participated the four sessions of therapeutic program in the forest environment ("forest therapy"), the second group did in the program in a hospital environment, the third group did merely walking in the forest ("forest bath"), and the last group was controls. All the participants was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and had been taking antidepressant medication longer than 3 months. Depressive symptoms were measured by the Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression(HRSD), Montgomery-Asberg Depressin Rating Scales(MADRS), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), and general health perception was measured by Short Form Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36). Heart rate variability(HRV) were also examined to observe the physiological parameters before and after the program. In the results, HRSD score of forest program group was significantly lower than controls after the program. MADRS score of forest therapy group and hospital program group was also significantly lower than controls after 4 sessions of the program. The remission rate defined as below 7 points in HRSD was higher in the forest therapy group, hospital program group, forest bath group, and controls in order. These results reveals that the therapeutic program performed in forest environment may improve unremitted depressive symptoms of patients with major depressive disorder. Although not significant, the forest therapy program showed better outcome than hosptial program and forest bath.

Background and objective: Horticultural activity is one of the most basic elements of horticultural therapy, which brings about therapeutic effects for participants through various plant-related activities. The main objective of this study was to verify the results of previous research, which suggested six types of activities from the exploratory factor analysis. Methods: To meet the purpose of this study, a questionnaire was designed to determine the preferences for 6 types of the horticultural therapy activities. The survey was conducted on 703 people from March 7 to June 20, 2019. The data of 674 cases were used into the final analysis, excluding unreliable responses. Descriptive statistics, and reliability analysis were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25, and confirmatory factor analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Amos 21. Results: First, horticultural therapy activities were classified into 6 types from the exploratory factor analysis, as conducted in previous research. The confirmatory factor analysis provided that the fit of the final model was satisfactory with χ2 = 1,300.590 (p < .001), RMR = .045, GFI = .876, RMSEA = .062, NFI = .914, TLI = .905, CFI = .914. Conclusion: This result revalidated that the mode with 6 types of horticultural therapy activities from previous research is appropriate criteria for the classification of horticultural activities. The model could be used to design more systematic horticultural therapy programs that meet the needs or circumstances of the subject, or that are suitable for necessary therapeutic intervention methods.
The objective of this study was to investigate characteristics in physical therapy according to the oriental and the western medicine. Questionnaires were referred to 101 chiefs of physical therapy departments of 66 hospitals of western medicine and 35 hospitals of oriental medicine. The results were as follows ; 1) For therapeutic members, significant indicators related to difference of the two groups were number of therapist, kind of therapist, programmer of physical therapy and referer to physical therapy. 2) For therapeutic environment, the size of therapeutic room and the respective department. 3) The two groups regarding whether the treatment was carried out or not in 14 cases of treatment (42.4 % ), and whether the cost of treatment was requested by medical insurance or not in 23 cases of treatment (70.0%).
