CNG 충전시스템 충전특성해석 프로그램 개발 (A Development of Simulation Program for CNG Refueling Station)

  • Theoretical approach was taken to the whole CNG refueling process. In particular, this study was focused on the prediction of flow rate at any given piping configuration of CNG system, in order that a simulation program for the CNG refueling system should be developed. The simulation result of refueling process was compared with experimental result obtained from various kinds of fueling configuration. The simulation results showed a satisfactory agreement within 10% errors in fueling time, fueling amount, and residual pressure. The developed program would be used a good engineering tools for estimating fueling performance for a any given CNG station.

회분식 퇴비화 시스템에서 제어변수가 호기성 분해성능에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Control Variables on the Aerobic Biodegradation Performance in Bin Composting System)

  • A theoretical model was developed to evaluate the influence of control variables on the composting performance in a bin composting system. The model was verified using pilot scale composting system. Simulation of the composting temperature according to air flow rate and composting bin size was conducted using the mathematical model. High composting temperature above 55$^{\circ}C$ needed to kill a pathogen was maintained for longer periods as the air flow rate was lower and the bin size was larger. Optimum air flow rate was 0.77L/min/kg.DM for the experimental pilot scale bin system. The size of composting bin should be large enough to maintain the higher composting temperature for required periods.

스터테반트 공기분급기의 분리효율에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Grade Efficiency of Sturtevant Type Air Classifier)

  • This research was Performed to raise grade efficiency of Sturtevant type air classifier. to treat powder less than $74\mu\textrm{m}$ particle produced at the crushing process of the dry aggregates manufacturing system or concrete wastes recycling system. The experimental conditions were in the ranges. 0.85 to 5.15 $m^3$/s of primary air flow rate. 0.005 to 0.015 $m^3$/s of secondary air flow rate $30^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ of auxiliary blades angle. respectively. for 1.7~3.3 kg/min of the powder feed rate. It was found that the grade efficiency of the air classifier was increased as the baffle plate was attached at the expansion region. and the optimal operating conditions of the air flow rates and the blade angle were obtained. The fractional recovery curves from the experiments were well agreement with the theoretical one of Molerus model.

회전유동에서의 관성진동 원인규명 (Onset of Inertial Oscillation in a Rotating Flow)

  • A study has been made on how to occur inertial oscillations in a rotating flow. The flow is considered to be induced by differentially-rotating top and bottom disks with infinite radius. The top and bottom disks are assumed to be set in motion over a finite initial start-up time duration from initial solid body rotation ($\Omega$) to each finial state, i.e., the top disk is rotating at the angular velocity (${\Omega}+{\Delta}{\Omega}$) and the bottom disk (${\Omega}-{\Delta}{\Omega}$). The system Reynolds number, which is a reciprocal of conventional Ekman number in rotating flows, is very high so that a boundary layer flow near disks is pronounced. From a strict theoretical analysis, it is clearly found the fact that inertial oscillation in a rotating flow is caused by excessive input of torque during start-up phase. Above finding comes from the following physics of theoretical result: in the case of abrupt start-up within very shorter time-duration than spin-up time scale, the inertial oscillation is magnified but it could be completely depressed in the case of mildly accelerated start-up, i.e., start-up process being established over diffusion time scale.

마이크로 디퓨저 내의 양 방향 동적 유동과 펌프 구동 주파수에 따른 유동정류 특성 연구 (Characterization of Bi-directionally Oscillating Microflow and Flow Rectification Performance of Microdiffusers)

  • This paper characterizes hi-directionally oscillating flow in planar microdiffusers in order to evaluate the frequency-dependent flow rectification performance of the microdiffusers. In the theoretical study, we analyze a hi-directionally oscillating flow in the planar microdiffuser. In the experimental study, we fabricate two different microdiffuser prototypes, having different neck widths of 100 ㎛ (D100) and 300 ㎛(D300), respectively. The experimental net flow rates are measured as 116.6 $\mu$ι/min. and 344.4 $\mu$ι/min. for D100 and D300, respectively. The experimental flow rate of D300 decreases at the oscillating flow frequencies higher than 90Hz, at which the net boundary layer thickness is reduced to the microdiffuser neck width. It is experimentally verified that the flow rectification performance and the net flow rate of the microdiffusers tend to decrease when the boundary layer thickness is smaller than the diffuser neck width.

Numerical Analysis on the Effect of Parameters that Affect the Flow Rate through the Tunnel with Jet Fan Ventilation System

  • In this study, ventilation flow rate and pressure rise through a tunnel are simulated numerically using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for various conditions such as roughness height of the surface of tunnel, swirl angle and hub/tip ratio of jet fan, and entrance and exit effects. By using a modified wall function, friction factor can be predicted with respect to the Moody chart within 10% of error for the circular pipe flow and 15% for the present tunnel. For more accurate design, the effect of the swirl angle and hub/tip ratio of jet fan, which is not included in the theoretical equation of pressure rise by jet fan needs to be considered.

  • Flow rate measurement uncertainties of the ultrasonic flow meter are generally influenced by many different factors, such as Reynolds number, flow distortion, turbulence intensity, wall surface roughness, velocity integration method along the acoustic paths, and transducer installation method, etc. Of these influencing factors, one of the most important uncertainties comes from the velocity integration method. In the present study, a optimization weighting factor method for 5-chord, which is given by a function of the chord locations of acoustic paths, is employed to obtain the mean velocity in the flow through a pipe. The power law profile is assumed to model the axi-symmetric pipe flow and its results are compared with the present weighting factor concept. For an asymmetric pipe flow, the Salami flow model is applied to obtain the velocity profiles. These theoretical methods are also compared with the previous Gaussian, Chebyshev, and Tailor methods. The results obtained show that for the fully developed turbulent pipe flows with surface roughness effects, the present weighting factor method is much less sensitive than Chebyshev and Tailor methods, leading to a better reliability in flow rate measurement using the ultrasonic flow meters.

  • It is the common features of the integral reactors that the main components of the RCS are installed within the reactor vessel, and so there are no any flow pipes connecting the coolant pumps or steam generators. Due to no any flow pipes, it is impossible to measure the differential pressure at the RCS of the integral reactors, and it also makes impossible measure the flow-rate of the reactor coolant. As a alternative method, the method by the measurement of coolant pump power has been introduced in this study. Up to now, we did not found out a precedent which the coolant pump power is used for the real-time flow-rate calculation at normal operation of the commercial nuclear power plants. The objective of the study is to embody the real-time flow-rate calculation method by the measurement of coolant pump power in an integral reactor. As a result of the study, we could theoretically reason that the capacity-head curve and capacity-shaft power curve around the rated capacity with the high specific-speeded axial flow pumps have each diagonally steep incline but show the similar shape. Also, we could confirm the above theoretical reasoning from the measured result of the pump motor inputs, So, it has been concluded that it is possible to calculate the real-time flow-rate by the measurement of pump motor inputs. In addition, the compensation for a above new method can be made by HBM being now used in the commercial nuclear power plants.

  • A internal lobe pump is suitable for oil hydraulics of machine tools, automotive engines, compressors, constructions and other various applications. In particular, the pump is an essential machine element of an automotive engine to feed lubricant oil. The subject of this paper is the theoretical analysis of internal lobe pump whose the main components are the rotors: usually the outer one is characterized by lobe with elliptical and involute shapes, while the inner rotor profile is determined as conjugate to the other. And the integrated system which is composed of three main modules has been developed through AutoLISP under AutoCAD circumstance. It generates new lobe profile and calculates automatically the flow rate and flow rate irregularity according to the lobe profile generated. Results obtained from the analysis enable the designer and manufacturer of oil pump to be more efficient in this field.
