Chemical Equilibrium and Synergism for Solvent Extraction of Trace Lithium with Thenoyltrifluoroacetone in the Presence of Trioctylphosphine Oxide

  • Equilibria and applications of a synergistic extraction were studied for the determination of a trace lithium by using thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) as ligands. Several equations were derived for the extraction of lithium into m-xylene as a phase of Li-TTA·mTOPO adduct. Distribution coefficients and extraction constant were determined together with a stability constant of the adduct. The adduct was quantitatively extracted from the basic solution of higher than pH 9 by shaking for 30 minutes. m-Xylene was selected as an optimum solvent by comparing the extraction efficiency among several kinds of organic solvents. The stability constant (${\Beta}_2$) for Li-TTA/2TOPO was 150 times higher than Li-TTA/TOPO. The distribution coefficient of Li-TTA/2TOPO into m-xylene was 9.12 and the logarithmic extraction constant (log $K_{ex}$) was 6.76. Trace lithium of sub-ppm level in seawater samples could be determined under modified conditions and a detection limit equivalent to 3 times standard deviation for background absorption was 0.42 ng/mL.

  • Triton X-100 계면할성제 존재하에서, $Eu^{3+}$-thenoyltrifluoroacetone(TTA)계의 형광세기의 n-octanol 영향에 관해 연구하였고, n-octanol의 정량을 위한 최적 조건을 규명하였다. 이 착물계에서 들뜨기 파장을 345nm로 주사했을 때, $Eu^{3+}$ 이온의 최대 형광파장은 619nm에서 나타났다. n-octanol의 검정곡선은 $1{\times}10^{-5}M{\sim}1{\times}10^{-7}M$의 범위에서 직선적인 관계를 얻었고, 검출한계는 $1{\times}10^{-9}M$이었다. 이 방법을 이용하여 합성시료를 분석한 결과 분석오차내에서 기지값과 일치하였으며, 상대표준편차는 약 3.5%였다.

Spectrofluorimeteric Determination of Oxalate Based on Its Ternary Complex Between Eu3+ and Thenoyltrifluoroacetone

  • A simple, sensitive and selective determination method of oxalate has been investigated based on the fluorescence enhancement of $Eu^{3+}$-TTA complex due to the formation of $Eu^{3+}$-TTA-oxalate ternary complex. An emission peak of $Eu^{3+}$-TTA, which is increased linearly with addition of oxalate, occurs at 610 nm in aqueous solution with excitation at 306 nm. The linear range of the calibration curve is 1 ${\times}$$10^{-6}$-8 ${\times}$$10^{-6}$ M and the detection limit is 1 ${\times}$$10^{-6}$ M. The effects of foreign ions were studied. The present method was applied to determine oxalate of two synthetic samples.

  • 지질시료 중의 U과 Th을 유도결합플라즈마 원자방출분광법으로 정량하기 위해 시료를 혼산으로 분해하고 TTA(thenoyltrifluoroacetone)와 TOA (tri-n-octylamine) 추출제를 이용하여 계통적으로 용매추출한 다음 HCl 용액으로 역추출하여 분리하였다. 표준암석 NIST SRM 278에 대한 분석결과는 NIST 및 다른 비파괴분석 결과와 비교하여 양호하였다. 알파선분광법으로 U과 Th의 자연방사성 동위원소를 측정하기 위해 추출분리한 각각을 음이온교환크로마토그래피로 정제하였다.

  • pH 7인 수용액에서 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone(TTA), n-octanol과 Triton X-100의 존재하에서 유로퓸과 사마륨의 형광세기가 크게 증가하였다. 또한 이 착물에 과량의 $La^{3+}$을 첨가할 때 형광세기가 100배 이상 증가하였다. 유로퓸과 사마륨의 최대 들뜨기 파장은 각각 345 nm과 380 nm이고, 최대 형광파장은 각각 617 nm, 567 nm 이었다. 유로퓸과 사마륨의 형광세기는 농도가 각각 $1{\times}10^{-7}∼1{\tiems}10^{-9}\;M,\;1{\tiems}10^{-5}∼1{\times}10^{-7}\;M$에서 직선적으로 증가하였고, 유로퓸은 $1{\times}10^{-11}\;M$ 그리고 사마륨은 $1{\times}10^{-8}\;M$까지 검출할 수 있었다.

  • 이온성 거대고리 리간드, diaza-18-crown-6-diisopropionic acid(K22DAP)를 합성하였다. 이 화합물의 양성자화 상수와 몇 가지 란탄족원소와의 안정도 상수를 전위차적정 방법으로 측정하였다. 양성자화 상수는 log$K_1$ = 9.05, log$K_2$ = 8.37, log$K_3$ = 1.88 및 log$K_4$ = 0.99이고, La(III), Nd(III), Gd(III) 및 Lu(III)와의 안정도 상수 (logKML)는 각각 11.14, 11.43, 11.74 및 10.88이었다. 거대고리 이온운반 물질로서 K22DAP를 사용하고 TTA(thenoyltrifluoroacetone)를 추출제로 하여 란탄(III)족 이온의 추출성질을 연구하였다. pH 8.0의 수상에서 La(III)과 Nd(III)이온은 주로 삼성분착물 Ln(K22DAP)TTA를 형성하였다.

형광광도법에 의한 Histidine의 정량에 관한 연구 (Determination of Histidine by Spectrofluorometry)

  • 형광광도법을 이용하여 histidine 아미노산을 간단하고미량까지 정확하게 정량 하는 방법을 연구하였다. $Eu^{3+}$ - TTA- histidine 착물의 방출 봉우리는 235 nm에서 들뜰 때 470 nm에서 나타나며 그의 형광세기는 histidine을 $1{\times}10^{-7}-4{\times}10^{-6}M$까지 가함에 따라 직선적으로 증가하였다. 이를 이용하여 histidine을 정량 하는 방법을 연구하였다. 검출 한계는 $5{\times}10^{-7}M$이였으며 이때의 상대표준편차는 3.5%이였다. 이 방법을 합성 시료에서 histidine을 정량 하는데 이용하였다.

  • The synergistic extraction of palladium(Ⅱ) was studied with 1,2-dichloroethane containing thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA; HA) and tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO; S). The main composition of synergistic adduct extracted into 1,2-dichloroethane phase was found to be PdA2S2. The equilibrium constants of the synergistic reaction were calculated. The application of this method to synthetic mixture for the separation of Pd from Pt was developed.

  • An application of synergistic solvent extraction for the etermination of trace lithium in sea water has been studied by forming an adduct complex of thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in a solvent. The interference by major constituents in sea water was eliminated by phosphate precipitation. Ex-perimental conditions such as solution pH, concentrations of TTA and TOPO etc. were optimized in synthetic sea water with similar compositionto its natural counterpart. To eliminate the interference, 1.38g of ammoni-um dihydrogen phosphate and 2.5 mL of ammonia water were added into 100 mL of thediluted solution at $60^{\circ}C$ to form the phosphate precipitates of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions. After the pH of this filtrate was adjusted to 8.0, 10.0 mL of m-xylene containing 0.1 M TTA and 0.05 M TOPO was added to the solution in a separatory funnel, and the solution was shaken vigorously for 20 minutes. The solvent was separated from the aqueous solution, and 20 uL of m-xylene solution was injected into a gaphite tube to measure the absorbance by GF-AAS. The detection limit was 0.42 ng/mL. Lithium was determined within the range of 146 to 221 ng/mLin Korean coast-al sea waters, and the recoveries in the spiked samples were 94 to 106%.
