The construction industry in the local areas business as the archetypal local one is effectuating industrial production, create employment and so on to perform a significant part in keeping local economy also reviving sluggish economy. The construction stagnation in market may cause severe economic depression in local which leads to having a crippling impact on local constructive industry, in terms of the phenomenon is on the interrelation between the local construction industry and local economy, with regard to local economy which is not covered by firm based industries is wield strong influenced over by construction industry. The object of this study is to research possible improvement factors on the preferential basis by only companies' efforts, therefore the policy of government or local self-governing body in support may be unnecessarily involved after grasping faced practical problems at regional construction companies from analysing the present condition of local construction marketplace and companies.

Mechanical facilities in modern buildings and industrial plants become more important in the view points of energy and environment issues. However, mechanical construction fields are still considered as to be subjected to buildings, even though design and construction of mechanical fields in the construction production process is independent of other fields. Recently, 'Framework Act on the Construction Industry' has been revised since 2007. According to the revision, the barrier of general construction and specialized construction is collapsed and the construction company can register any type of construction classification if they are able to carry out the construction mission. The mechanical construction fields are exempt until 2011 because of the protection of mechanical construction industry. In the present study, the bidding system has been prospected due to the revision of 'Basic Law on Construction Industry' after 2011. The trends for development of mechanical construction fields has been also discussed.

The construction industry is known for a large number of workers and its high employment inducing effect. Therefore, the survey on the wages of the construction industry is an important basic data for grasping fluctuations according to the survey cycle and establishing future policies, and it is a statistical data having a large impact on related industries. In this study, we intend to conduct a comparative analysis of 'the wage survey in Construction sector,' which is the representative nationally approved statistics that surveys the current construction industry wages, and 'the labor force survey of business establishment'.

Quantity Surveying Profession is a new breed with a history of only less than seven years in S. Korea' s Construction Industry. In this paper, the research aims to investigate the background of the market entrance of this profession in Korean Construction Industry, and the current market direction and future market demands. The research concludes that climate changes in Real Estate markets in relation to Project Financing practices caused by economic crisis of late 1997's, enabled the UK originated QSP sustainable in S. Korea. Moreover it was pointed out that the services of QSP current available in S. Korea's market attributed the different aspect compared to traditional quantity surveying services prevailed in UK. Finally it was apparent that the evolutional direction of the future quantity surveying market in S. Korea is most likely toward multidisciplinary skilled services profession processing not only broader architectural knowledges but cost consciousness, specialty in construction costs and construction contract aspects and transparency in ethical manner.

In a competitive business environment, like construction, achieving customer satisfaction has been identified as an important element for measuring project's success and sustaining competitive advantage. Traditionally, customers were expelled from the product development process. Little effort was done, in the past to identify the factors that lead to customer satisfaction and hence, use them for product improvement. Organizations that adopted that approach, encountered the risk of losing their customers. In construction, end-users of governmental housing projects were excluded from the design decision making process and accordingly, their requirements were not reflected in design. Although a number national customer satisfaction indices and barometers have been developed worldwide, they have their own limitations and shortcomings. This paper aims to develop an international index for customer satisfaction in the construction Industry. For the first time in construction literature, this research identified, validated and classified 45 drivers for achieving customer satisfaction in the construction industry.

건설산업의 지속적 성장과 국제적인 기술경쟁력 제고를 위해서는 건설기술 연구개발이 필수적이다. 그러나 우리나라의 건설분야 연구개발 투자는 타 산업에 비해 저조한 실정이며, 정부차원의 연구개발 투자도 외국에 비해 낮은 수준이다. 본 연구에서는 건설기술 연구개발의 투자 현황을 고찰해 보고, 연구개발의 성과를 신기술 및 특허와 관련하여 분석하였다. 그리고 신기술지정제도의 현황과 개선점을 살펴보았다. 이러한 현황 분석을 바탕으로 건설기술 연구개발의 개선 방향을 제시하였다.

This study analyzed the relationship between occupational accidents in the construction industry and business cycle factors. Multiple regression analyses were conducted to achieve the research purpose; additionally, time-varying parameter estimations were performed to interpret the results. The results obtained for the construction industry revealed a statistically significant relationship between occupational accidents and wage increase rate, unemployment, construction starts, and other factors. The wage increase rate plays a role in reducing occupational accidents because efforts are made to prevent accidents owing to the increase in income loss due to accidents and the demand for increased safety levels. The number of construction starts affects occupational accidents with a time lag of 1 to 2 or 4 months; therefore, it is likely to be used as a leading indicator for estimating fatal accidents in the construction industry. This study highlighted the importance of monitoring socioeconomic changes that could affect the working conditions of workers and workplaces, and production activities in the workplace for the effective prevention of occupational accidents. This study also reveals the necessity of developing a method to operate prevention projects flexibly and the seasonality of industrial characteristics, particularly those of the construction industry where the highest number of fatal occupational injuries occur.

Risk management is popularly and widely used in various industries to handle uncertainty that can negatively affect their businesses. While in the current Information-Technology oriented age, software packages are designed to assist in carrying out risk management processes, the construction industry does not seem to have software that is tuned to its specific characteristics and processes. Therefore, this study first explores the types of software that are commonly used for risk management in the Singapore construction industry. Also, using one-sample t-test, it is tested if the software programs used in the construction industry have effectively catered the needs of the users. For the analysis, a survey questionnaire was developed and the representatives from 34 companies participated in the survey. Furthermore, this study also makes use of the current risk management framework defined in ISO31000 to design a risk management software algorithm that can suit the needs for the Singapore construction industry. The results from this study will contribute to identifying strategic areas, in terms of use of risk management software, on which the industry needs to focus, ultimately enhancing their performance of risk management.

The purpose of this study is to classify government regulations and to present the direction of regulation policy in korean construction industry with focus on subcontract or special contractor. The literature research and type analysis are adopted as research method. And the results of this study are as followed. The study has shown the type of government regulations related with subcontract or specialty contractor in korean construction industry. Also, Having shown the institutional function of the regulations in the market. And the study has presented the approach to reform government regulations in construction industry. First, government must recognize not only economic efficiency but also social equity as equivalent policy values. Second, government must evaluate the benefit and cost of policy group as regulations have changed. Third, government must analysis the functions and effects of regulation reform in comparison with existing regulation.

The construction liability type CM has been introduced in the form of a pilot project through public institutions since 2017 since it was introduced in the term of construction responsibility type construction project management in the Basic Law of Construction Industry in 2011 with the aim of improving the constitution of the Korean construction industry and strengthening global competitiveness. Through the introduction of construction-responsible CM, the government intends to change the paradigm of the overall construction industry, including design and construction, construction costs, disputes between stakeholders, and transparency of business. In this regard, the study aims to compare and analyze the evaluation methods on the bidding guide that public institutions (LH) are currently using to select companies in order to lay the foundations for successful construction of construction-responsible CM ordering methods.
