Deep Learning and Color Histogram based Fire and Smoke Detection Research

  • The fire should extinguish as soon as possible because it causes economic loss and loses precious life. In this study, we propose a new atypical fire and smoke detection algorithm using deep learning and color histogram of fire and smoke. First, input frame images obtain from the ONVIF surveillance camera mounted in factory search motion candidate frame by motion detection algorithm and mean square error (MSE). Second deep learning (Faster R-CNN) is used to extract the fire and smoke candidate area of motion frame. Third, we apply a novel algorithm to detect the fire and smoke using color histogram algorithm with local area motion, similarity, and MSE. In this study, we developed a novel fire and smoke detection algorithm applied the local motion and color histogram method. Experimental results show that the surveillance camera with the proposed algorithm showed good fire and smoke detection results with very few false positives.

Forest Fire Risk Zonation in Madi Khola Watershed, Nepal

  • Fire, being primarily a natural phenomenon, is impossible to control, although it is feasible to map the forest fire risk zone, minimizing the frequency of fires. The spread of a fire starting in any stand in a forest can be predicted, given the burning conditions. The natural cover of the land and the safety of the population may be threatened by the spread of forest fires; thus, the prevention of fire damage requires early discovery. Satellite data and geographic information system (GIS) can be used effectively to combine different forest-fire-causing factors for mapping the forest fire risk zone. This study mainly focuses on mapping forest fire risk in the Madikhola watershed. The primary causes of forest fires appear to be human negligence, uncontrolled fire in nearby forests and agricultural regions, and fire for pastoral purposes which were used to evaluate and assign risk values to the mapping process. The majority of fires, according to MODIS events, occurred from December to April, with March recording the highest occurrences. The Risk Zonation Map, which was prepared using LULC, Forest Type, Slope, Aspect, Elevation, Road Proximity, and Proximity to Water Bodies, showed that a High Fire Risk Zone comprised 29% of the Total Watershed Area, followed by a Moderate Risk Zone, covering 37% of the total area. The derived map products are helpful to local forest managers to minimize fire risks within the forests and take proper responses when fires break out. This study further recommends including the fuel factor and other fire-contributing factors to derive a higher resolution of the fire risk map.

  • 화재 및 재난에서 신속·정확한 경보는 피해규모의 최소화와 인명 피난의 성공과 직결된다. 그러나 자동화재탐지설비의 비화재보로 인해 119서비스의 오인출동의 수가 증가하고 있다. 이는 건물의 관계인의 안전 불감증과 소방의 인력낭비를 초래한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국외(미국, 영국) 및 국내의 비화재보에 대한 통계DB 및 문헌을 확인하고, 비화재보의 관리체계에 대해서 비교·분석하여 비화재보에 대한 통계 및 관리체계의 문제점을 확인하였다.

  • Recently, South Korea is reaching aged society through ageing society. Accordingly, facility related to aged is increased consistently because of effort to improve the welfare of the elderly through elderly long term care insurance in 2008. however, the number of fires in the elderly facilities is increasing rapidly too. It is becoming bigger and higher and the characteristics of person who is unable to afford are mostly having difficult evacuation. so fire safety guildelines are urgently needed but korea research is insufficient. In this study, we propose a fire scenario through investigation of fire causes for fire safety guideline development of elderly facility, and describe to the fire safety countermeasure.

원전 케이블 화재 열속평가 및 열화 진단방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Heat-Flux Evaluation for Cable Fire Including Diagnostic Methodology for Degradation in Nuclear Power Plants)

  • The fire event occurred in fire proof zone often causes serious electrical problems such as shorts, ground faults, or open circuits in nuclear power plants. These would be directed to the loss of safe shutdown capabilities performed by safety related systems and equipments. The fire event can treat the basic design principle that safety systems should keep their functions with redundancy and independency. In case of a multi-core cable fire, operators can not perform their mission properly and can misjudge the situation because of spurious operation, wrong indication or instrument. These would deteriorate the plant capabilities of safety shutdown and make disastrous conditions. In this paper, the characteristic of cable fire is investigated and the heat-flux evaluation for cable fire is studied. Moreover, a diagnostic methodology for degraded cable in nuclear power plants is presented.

  • To prevent accidents caused by changes in the surrounding environment or other factors, various protection facilities are installed at the photovoltaic connection module. The main causes of fire are sparks due to foreign substances inside the photovoltaic connection module through high temperature rise and dew condensation in the photovoltaic connection module, and fire due to heat from the power diode. The proposed method can predict the fire by measuring flame, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature, humidity, input voltage, and current on the photovoltaic connection module, and when the fire conditions are reached, fire alarm and power off can be sent to managers and users in real time to prevent fire in advance.

  • Today, fires are becoming so catastrophic and complicated due to the industrialization and diversification of energy sources that it is getting more difficult to define the survey items in order to find out the causes and processes of the fire. As an organization of prevention, vigilance and putting out of the fire, Fire Fighting authorities are ultimately pursuing the system of fire fighting administration to protect human lives and their properties through establishment and performance of fire prevention policy based on the fire-related statistics they have gathered and prevention of future fires of the kind which can promote the safety of structural space. Thus, to facilitate the fire detection, it can be said that good understanding of the tasks of both investigation and putting out of the fire as being two axes has the greatest significance. For this study, textbooks from the organization of fire fighting and police, which are designed for the literature study on the investigation and putting out of fire, are used and for the demonstrative study, the conclusions have been reached by the analyses of the 64 questionnaires of three parts which were divided by fire investigation and fighting for three hundred and six governmental employees engaging in the above fields.

관광호텔의 화재손해 위험관리방안 - 화재발생현황과 대형화재사례 분석 중심 (A study on Fire Case and Countermeasure of Tourist Hotel)

  • 관광호텔은 숙박과 음식점, 운동, 휴양 등의 부대시설을 함께 갖춘 불특정 이용객과 투숙객 이 많은 복합시설로서 화재발생에 따른 인명피해와 재산손실에 매우 취약한 위험이 상존하는 시설이다. 본 연구에서는 관광호텔의 화재발생 현황에 대한 2001년부터 2010년까지 10 년간의 화재통계분석과 대형 호텔화재사례 15건을 분석하였다. 화재발생 장소는 호텔 객실 (33.2%)과 음식점 주방(11.8%)가 주요 발생장소이며 주요 화재원인인 전기화재(40.8%), 담배화재(14.5%), 용접 등 화기작업(9.2%) 등으로 나타났다. 또한 화재사례연구에서는 방화구획설치 및 관리 불량, 가연내장재 사용 등이 연구기간 동안 반복적으로 모든 사례에서 나타나서 주요 화재위험으로 분석되었다. 관광호텔은 이러한 화재위험의 특성에 따라 적합한 방화위험관리의 개발과 현장 운영이 필요하다. 예방점검, 사용자 교육 및 훈련, 투숙객의 화재예방안내 등의 적극적 예방관리가 필요하다. 또한 화재의 연소확대를 차단하기 위한 방화구획의 관리, 스프링클러 등의 자동소화설비를 설치가 필요하며, 가연성 물질의 사용 을 자제하여야 하고, 투숙객 피난 안전에 대한 신속한 조치, 비상절차 등과 관련된 비상대응규정의 운용이 매우 중요하다.

Transient heat transfer analysis using Galerkin finite element method for reinforced concrete slab exposed to high elevated temperature

  • Fire loading causes a critical collapse of RC (Reinforced Concrete) Structures since the embedded steels inside are relative week against high elevated temperature. Several numerical frameworks for fire resistance have been proposed, however they have limitations such as unstable convergence and long calculation period. In the work, 2-D nonlinear FE technique is proposed using Galerkin method for RC structures under fire loading. Closed-form element stiffness with a triangular element is adopted and verified with fire test on three RC slabs with different fire loading conditions. Several simulations are also performed considering fire loading conditions, water contents, and cover depth. The proposed numerical technique can handle time-dependent fire loading, convection, radiation, and material properties. The proposed technique can be improved through early-aged concrete behavior like moisture transport which varies with external temperature.

고성지방의 산불발생 (Frequent Forest Fire in Kosong-Gun, Kangwon Province)

  • 본 연구에서는 1995-2001년에 고성지방의 산불 다발생지 10개 지역을 대상으로, 산불발생의 인위적 요인과 기상요인을 파악하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 같은 곳에서 산불이 3회 이상 발생한 곳은 거진읍 거진리, 간성읍 선유실리, 죽왕면 마좌리 등이고, 인접지역에서 계속, 산불이 3회 이상 발생한 곳은 토성면의 학야리, 성대리, 인흥리 등이다. 1995-2001년에 산불발생 퐁 46회 중, 3월 11회, 4일 11회, 11월 7회, 1월 6회, 2일 6회, 12일 3회, 10일 2회 등이고, 산불발생이 많은 시간은 11-18시이다. 산불 발생원인은 군사훈련, 논.밭두렁소각, 쓰레기소각, 농산물폐기물 소각, 성묘객실화, 담뱃불, 방화 등인데, 군사훈련과 군부대내의 쓰레기 소각으로 인한 산불발생이 제일 많았다. 산불이 제일 많은 3,4월, 산불 발생 22일의 일평균 최고기온은 일평년값보다 $5^{\circ}C$높았고, 일평균상대습도는 23% 낮았으며, 일평균풍속은 0.8m/s강했다. 그리고 3,4월에는 퓐의 특성을 가진 강풍이 자주 나타난다. 이때, 한반도 중심의 기압배치는 $\ulcorner$남고북저$\lrcorner$형이다.
