  • This study aims to analyze the effects of education for persons with disabilities on non-disabled children's attitude to accept disabled children in order to use it as foundational data to practice successful integrated education. According to the study result, education for persons with disabilities positively changed non-disabled children's attitude to accept disabled children's school life and personal life. This plainly shows that education for persons with disabilities is effective regardless of time consumed even with the short time of four weeks here. However, it did not exert positive effects on their attitude to accept social life. Therefore, it is needed to develop education programs for persons with disabilities constantly with various approaches in order to get rid of non-disabled people's wrong recognition on disability and also ignorance about disability.

  • The Korean disabled is about 5% of the population and most of them utilize welfare centers for the disabled. The disabled have difficulties in using the welfare centers' website since many centers do not comply with the website accessibility guidelines. This paper has compared, evaluated and provided the analytical results of the observance of the website accessibility guidelines of the welfare centers for the disabled in Korean, the U.S. and Japanese. The results indicated that there are many social welfare centers which do not abide by the laws even though the welfare centers for the disabled should comply with the website accessibility guidelines as required by the Law of Prohibiting Discrimination and Right of Remedy for the Disabled in 2008. In particular, Korean welfare centers for the disabled observing the website accessibility guidelines is significantly low of 78.77% to be compared with the U.S. by 85.50% and Japanese by 86.00%. This paper will provide theoretical basis for research on evaluation of website accessibility in the future and contribute to the public awareness on the social welfare of the disabled by suggesting the future direction of website accessibility evaluation on the welfare centers which are closely linked to the everyday life of the disabled.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate daily lives of the intellectually disabled living in residential facilities. The daily time use method that monitors and records 24 hours of the subject was used for the analysis of daily lives of the institutionalized disabled and verbal interaction patterns within each facility. In particular, the analysis focused on 'frequency of activities' and 'lives', with the method of time budget. Based on the activity category table of the 2004 nationwide Time Use Survey, the analysis aimed to identify differences and similarities between the non-disabled and the disabled in terms of daily time use. The interaction pattern analysis method on grounds of the Flanders Category system(1963) indicates the level, the type, and the full details of interaction between the institutionalized disabled and the living rehabilitation teachers. This study is all the more significant in that it monitored the daily lives of the institutionalized disabled for the first time to allow in-depth understanding about the daily lives of the disabled; analyzed interaction patterns between the institutionalized disabled and living rehabilitation teachers; applied time budget study method, a frequently used one in adjacent fields, and therefore should serve as a valuable source material for future studies.
