As the technology of Smart City and Digital Twin is developing, techniques to integrate BIM data of infrastructure facilities into GIS are becoming more critical. Hence, this study aims to manage BIM data representing bridge and tunnel structures through the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standard and to develop a method to link these IFC-compliant files to the GIS standard CityGML without loss of information. We analyze the criteria for creating BIM data for bridges and tunnels by reviewing the BIM guidelines set by each client. We use these criteria to suggest methods for data management based on InfraBIM as a specific IFC class standard. Furthermore, we perform model analysis to determine the necessary design and construction field-appropriate model process and Level of Detail (LOD). From the model analysis, we conclude that the classified BIM models can be used as base data to generate BIM models of bridges and tunnels for facility management.
This study intends to analyze the various spatial structures of the Seoul city museum with reference to the layouts and the qualitative mode of exhibition items. Understanding the way of actual exhibition design can be a clue to understand the contents of exhibition story which guarantees to make the pertinent space and visitors route organization between different levels of architectural space and exhibition space. The basic methodological ideas of this study are as follows; 1) Systematic analysis about the characteristics of exhibits, historic context, and hierachy of each thematic zone. 2) Analysis of physical combination of object spatial cell in the view of visitors circulatiov. As an actual example History zone (1F), Life and Culture zone(2F), City zone(2F) in the museum are analyzed and examined
Durability estimation of a prototype vehicle has traditionally relied heavily on accelerated durability tests using predefined proving grounds or rig tests using a road simulator. By use of those tests, it is very difficult to predict durability failures in actual service environments. This motivated the development of an integrated CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) methodology for the durability estimation of a prototype vehicle in actual service environments. Since expensive computational costs such as computation time and hardware resources are required for a full vehicle simulation in those environments with a very long span of event time, the conventional CAE methodologies have little feasibility. An efficient computational methodology for durability estimations is applied with theoretical developments. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is shown by the comparison of results of the typical actual service environment such as the city mode with those of the typical accelerated durability test over the Belgian road.
This paper investigates the topographic effects on wind characteristics over hilly terrain, based on wind data recorded at a number of meteorological stations in or near complex terrain. The multiply data sources allow a more detailed investigation of the flow field than is normally possible. Vertical profiles of mean and turbulent wind components from a Sodar profiler were presented and then modeled as functions of height and wind speed. The correlations between longitudinal and vertical wind components were discussed. The phenomena of flow separation and generation of vortices were observed. The distance-dependence of the topographic effects on gust factors was revealed subsequently. Furthermore, the canyon effect was identified and discussed based on the observations of wind at a saddle point between two mountain peaks. This study aims to further understanding of the characteristics of surface wind over rugged terrain. The presented results are expected to be useful for structural design, prevention of pollutant dispersion, and validation of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) models or techniques over complex terrains.
A comparative study of airborne salinity and sea wind was done for a coastal area, Sokcho city, of East Sea in Kangwon province, Korea. In this study, a relationship between the formation of airborne salinity and wind velocity was investigated, and then the airborne salinity was simulated and forecasted by the obtained wind-salinity characteristics. It is founded that most airborne salinity is brought by sea winds with the occurrence of velocity, higher than and equal to 4m/s, while the occurrence of lower wind velocities (ie., lower than 4m/s) in sea wind and the occurrence of inland wind give diluted effects on the airborne transfer. By using these characteristics and a proposed linear equation model, the salinity in Sokcho city is successfully simulated and forecasted. It is expected that the linear equation model may be useful for durability design of concrete structures under the conditions of chloride attack, induced by the airborne salinity.
Although subway system continues to be the backbone of transportation systems in a city like Seoul, there will still be areas across the city where subway services are not avaliable. Interest has steadily grown to fill this missing routes in overall urban transportation system. Light Rail Transit (L.R.T) system has been recently thought to be an appropriate mode of transportation by businessmen, professionals and transportation industry. In this regards, the purpose of this study is to explore whether L.R.T can be a feasible form of urban rail mode in the context of Seoul. First, the study develops the mathematical models to derive optimum route networks and stations. Integer Programming is employed to determine whether alternative routes are financially viable from the viewpoint of revenue maximization principles. Second, mathematical models developed are applied to Yoido area in order to examine the validity of model structures. The models constructed turns out be capable of handling alternative routes and stations. Application of models are successfully carried out to derive financially feasible set of routes and stations.

Shi (2000) claims that topics must be related to a syntactic position in the comment, thus denying the existence of dangling topics in Chinese. Under Shi's analysis, the dangling topic sentences in Chinese are not topic-comment but subject-predicate sentences. However, Shi's arguments are not without problems. In this paper we argue that topics in Chinese can be licensed not only by a syntactic gap but also by a semantic gap/variable without syntactic realization. Under our analysis, all the dangling topics discussed in Shi (2000) are, in fact, not subjects but topics licensed by a semantic gap/variable that can turn the relevant comment into an open predicate, thus licensing dangling topics and deriving well-formed topic-comment constructions. Our analysis fares better than Shi's in not only unifying the licensing mechanism of a topic to an open predicate without considering how the open predicate is derived, but also unifying the treatment of normal and dangling topics in Chinese,
In many very high density cities in Asia in which there is limited area to expand, growth is forced upward as well as outward. Densely packed detached houses and low-rise buildings are replaced by lower density high-rises, leaving open spaces between high-rise buildings. Through this process, areas that formerly did not have much green space gain valuable green spaces, and new ecological corridors and patches are created. In this study, the demographic and housing-type changes of Wonju City were delineated using land use maps, aerial images, census data, and other administrative data. Green area changes were calculated using land cover data derived from multi-year Landsat TM satellite imagery. The values were then compared against demographic and housing-type changes for each administrative unit. The overall results showed a decrease of forested area in the city and an increase of developed area. Urban sprawl was clearly visible in many of the suburban areas. However, as expected, we also detected areas in which greenness did not decrease when the population greatly increased. These areas were characterized by residential building complexes of ten or more stories. If an equal number of housing units had been built as detached houses, these areas would not have kept as much green space. Our research result showed that high-density and high-rise residential structures can offer an alternative means to protect or create urban green spaces in high-density urban environments.
A theme park is a tourism destination attracting a lot of tourists. Many local authorities establish theme parks within their own territory. Busan Metropolitan City tries to host an attractive theme park, and to make the city known as the tourism destination for 21st century. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a policy and management strategy of theme park based on questionnaire analysis for international tourists visiting Busan. First, it is needed to supply low land price to reduce construction cost and to attract investors from the public and private sectors. Second, the theme park has to have attractive themes and new events for repeaters. Third, infra structures related to the theme parks should be provided for the easy accessibility. Finally more emphasis should be placed on public relation and service education for employees.
A new compound, 3-acetoxylanosta-7,9(11),24-triene-26-al (3), and seven known compounds (1 - 2 and 4 - 8) were isolated from Ganoderma tropicum (Jung.) Bres. collected in Tay Nguyen, Vietnam. The structures of these compounds were determined by one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and high-resolution ESI-MS, and by comparison with literature data. All of the isolated compounds were tested for nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae-stimulated RAW 246.7 cells. Among them, compounds 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 enhanced the NBT reduction in a dose-dependent manner.
