  • In this paper we calculate three geometric constants, namely the von Neumann-Jordan constant, the James constant, and the Dunkl-Williams constant, for Morrey spaces and discrete Morrey spaces. These constants measure uniformly nonsquareness of the associated spaces. We obtain that the three constants are the same as those for $L^1$ and $L^{\infty}$ spaces.

  • Complex viscosities of dense alumina slurries over 45% volume density measured with the oscillating method were correlated well with Casson model. Among several monosaccharides and disaccharides studied here, fructose and sucrose showed good rheological properties in making dense alumina slurry plastic compared to other monosaccharides and disaccharides like glucose, galactose, arabinose, xylose and maltose. Sucrose content or additional water content in dense alumina slurry with sucrose contributed to the plasticity of the slurries.

  • In this paper, we prove the discrete Hardy inequality through the continuous case for decreasing functions using elementary properties of calculus. Also, we prove the Carleman's inequality through limiting the discrete Hardy inequality with applications of Taylor series.

  • Bio-oil instability, or aging, is a significant problem for the long-term storage of fast pyrolysis oils. We investigated bio-oil aging at the molecular level using Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Petroleomic analysis suggests that bio-oil aging is resulted from the oligomerization of phenolic lignin products whereas 'sugaric' cellulose/hemicellulose products have negligible effect.
