  • This paper presents a novel Android malware classification model planned to classify and categorize Android malicious code at Drebin dataset. The amount of malicious mobile application targeting Android based smartphones has increased rapidly. In this paper, Restricted Boltzmann Machine and Deep Belief Network are used to classify malware into families of Android application. A texture-fingerprint based approach is proposed to extract or detect the feature of malware content. A malware has a unique "image texture" in feature spatial relations. The method uses information on texture image extracted from malicious or benign code, which are mapped to uncompressed gray-scale according to the texture image-based approach. By studying and extracting the implicit features of the API call from a large number of training samples, we get the original dynamic activity features sets. In order to improve the accuracy of classification algorithm on the features selection, on the basis of which, it combines the implicit features of the texture image and API call in malicious code, to train Restricted Boltzmann Machine and Back Propagation. In an evaluation with different malware and benign samples, the experimental results suggest that the usability of this method---using Deep Belief Network to classify Android malware by their texture images and API calls, it detects more than 94% of the malware with few false alarms. Which is higher than shallow machine learning algorithm clearly.

  • Accurate and versatile image data-sets are essential for fashion AI research and AI-based fashion businesses based on a systematic attribute classification system. This study constructs a color and texture attribute hierarchical classification system by collecting fashion item images and analyzing the metadata of fashion items described by consumers. Essential dimensions to explain color and texture attributes were extracted; in addition, attribute values for each dimension were constructed based on metadata and previous studies. This hierarchical classification system satisfies consistency, exclusiveness, inclusiveness, and flexibility. The image tagging to confirm the usefulness of the proposed classification system indicated that the contents of attributes of the same image differ depending on the annotator that require a clear standard for distinguishing differences between the properties. This classification system will improve the reliability of the training data for machine learning, by providing standardized criteria for tasks such as tagging and annotating of fashion items.

  • Texture is one of the important characteristics that has been used to identify objects or regions of interest in an image. Tire tread patterns can be considered as a kind of texture, and these are classified with a texture analysis method. In this sense, this paper proposes a new algorithm for the classification of tire tread pattern. For the classification, cooccurrence matrix for the binary image is used. The performances are tested by experimentally 8 different tire tread pattern and the robustness is examined by including some kinds on noise.

  • The Brightness, color and texture included in a multispectral satellite data are used as important factors to analyze and to apply the image data for a proper use. One of the most significant process in the satellite data analysis using texture or color information is to extract features effectively expressing the information of original image. It was described in this paper that six features were introduced to extract useful features from the analysis of the satellite data, and also a classification network using the back-propagation neural network was constructed to evaluate the classification ability of each vector feature in SPOT imagery. The vector features were adopted from the training set selection for the interesting region, and applied to the classification process. The classification results showed that each vector feature contained many merits and demerits depending on each vector's characteristics, and each vector had compatible classification ability. Therefore, it is expected that the color and texture features are effectively used not only in the classification process of satellite imagery, but in various image classification and application fields.

  • Music genre classification is an essential component for music information retrieval system. There are two important components to be considered for better genre classification, which are audio feature extraction and classifier. This paper incorporates two different kinds of features for genre classification, timbral texture and rhythmic content features. Timbral texture contains several spectral and Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) features. Before choosing a timbral feature we explore which feature contributes less significant role on genre discrimination. This facilitates the reduction of feature dimension. For the timbral features up to the 4-th order central moments and the covariance components of mutual features are considered to improve the overall classification result. For the rhythmic content the features extracted from beat histogram are selected. In the paper Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) with bagging is used as classifier for classifying the genres. Based on the proposed feature sets and classifier, experiment is performed with well-known datasets: GTZAN databases with ten different music genres, respectively. The proposed method acquires the better classification accuracy than the existing approaches.

  • In this paper, a new texture feature extraction method for texture image classification is proposed. The proposed method is a modified texture spectrum method. It uses local weighting averaged texture unit, that is, the neighbor pixels are weithted and averaged in 4-direction and the calculated values are compared with center pixel to find texture units. The proposed method has only 81 texture units and these units are really good features for texture classification. The proposed method is applied to vegetable images and Blodatz album images and compared with several conventional methods for the feature extraction time and the recognition rate.

  • Embedded systems are becoming more popular as many embedded platforms have become more affordable. It offers a compact solution for many different problems including computer vision applications. Texture classification can be used to solve various problems, and implementing it in embedded platforms will help in deploying these applications into the market. This paper proposes to deploy the texture classification algorithms onto the embedded computer vision (ECV) platform. Two algorithms are compared; grey level co-occurrence matrices (GLCM) and Gabor filters. Experimental results show that raw GLCM on MATLAB could achieves 50ms, being the fastest algorithm on the PC platform. Classification speed achieved on PC and ECV platform, in C, is 43ms and 3708ms respectively. Raw GLCM could achieve only 90.86% accuracy compared to the combination feature (GLCM and Gabor filters) at 91.06% accuracy. Overall, evaluating all results in terms of classification speed and accuracy, raw GLCM is more suitable to be implemented onto the ECV platform.

  • We propose an efficient block classification of the document images using the second-order statistical texture features computed from spatial gray level dependence matrix (SGLDM). We studied on the techniques that will improve the block speed of the segmentation and feature extraction speed and the accuracy of the detailed classification. In order to speedup the block segmentation, we binarize the gray level image and then segmented by applying smoothing method instead of using texture features of gray level images. We extracted seven texture features from the SGLDM of the gray image blocks and we applied these normalized features to the BP (backpropagation) neural network, and classified the segmented blocks into the six detailed block categories of small font, medium font, large font, graphic, table, and photo blocks. Unlike the conventional texture classification of the gray level image in aerial terrain photos, we improve the classification speed by a single application of the texture discrimination mask, the size of which Is the same as that of each block already segmented in obtaining the SGLDM.

  • Accurate encoding of local patterns is a very important factor in texture classification. However, LBP based methods w idely studied have fundamental problems that are vulnerable to noise. Recently, LDP method using edge response and dire ction information was proposed in facial expression recognition. LDP is more robust to noise than LBP and can accommod ate more information in it's pattern code, but it has drawbacks that it is sensitive to rotation transforms that are critical to texture classification. In this paper, we propose a new local pattern coding method called Rotation Invariant Local Direc tional Pattern, which combines rotation-invariant transform to LDP. To prove the texture classification performance of the proposed method in this paper, texture classification was performed on the widely used UIUC and CUReT datasets. As a result, the proposed RILDP method showed better performance than the existing methods.

  • The spectral information based image analysis, visual interpretation and automatic classification have been widely carried out so far for remote sensing data processing. Yet recently, many researchers have tried to extract the spatial information which cannot be expressed directly in the image itself. Using the texture and wavelet scheme, we made a wavelet-based texture fusion image which includes the advantages of each scheme. Moreover, using these schemes, we carried out image classification for the urban spatial analysis and the geological structure analysis around the caldera area. These two case studies showed that image classification accuracy of texture image and wavelet-based texture fusion image is better than that of using only raw image. In case of the urban area using high resolution image, as both texture and wavelet based texture fusion image are added to the original image, the classification accuracy is the highest. Because detailed spatial information is applied to the urban area where detail pixel variation is very significant. In case of the geological structure analysis using middle and low resolution image, the images added by only texture image showed the highest classification accuracy. It is interpreted to be necessary to simplify the information such as elevation variation, thermal distribution, on the occasion of analyzing the relatively larger geological structure like a caldera. Therefore, in the image analysis using spatial information, each spatial information analysis method should be carefully selected by considering the characteristics of the satellite images and the purpose of study.
