Changes in Moisture Content and Quality of Chewing Gum during Storage (저장중 츄잉껌의 수분함량과 품질변화)

  • The changes in sensory and mechanical texture of chewing gum during storage at various relative humidity were studied to define the quality index for the prediction of shelf-life. The initial moisture content of chewing gum was 2.57% (dry basis). The BET monolayer value at $a_{w}$ 0.19 was calculated to be 1.57% (dry basis). The sensory scores of chewing gum were closely correlated with moisture content and instrumental texture parameters with 0.1% significant level. Therefore the quality of stored chewing gum was directly related with moisture content above BET monolayer. The products became organoleptically acceptable in the range of moisture content $2.17{\sim}3.16%(dry basis)$. This range of moisture content ie equivalent to the ranges of instrumental parameter, fracture force$0.8{\sim}1.8{\times}10^{7}$, fracture modulus $1.1{\sim}2.4{\times}10^{8}$, puncture force $0.5{\sim}1.1{\times}10^{7}[dyne/cm^{2}]$ and brittleness $0.7{\sim}1.4{\times}10^{8}[dyne/cm^{3}]$, respectively.

Depth From Defocus using Wavelet Transform (웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 Depth From Defocus)

  • In this paper, a new method for obtaining three-dimensional shape of an object by measuring relative blur between images using wavelet analysis has been described. Most of the previous methods use inverse filtering to determine the measure of defocus. These methods suffer from some fundamental problems like inaccuracies in finding the frequency domain representation, windowing effects, and border effects. Besides these deficiencies, a filter, such as Laplacian of Gaussian, that produces an aggregate estimate of defocus for an unknown texture, can not lead to accurate depth estimates because of the non-stationary nature of images. We propose a new depth from defocus (DFD) method using wavelet analysis that is capable of performing both the local analysis and the windowing technique with variable-sized regions for non-stationary images with complex textural properties. We show that normalized image ratio of wavelet power by Parseval's theorem is closely related to blur parameter and depth. Experimental results have been presented demonstrating that our DFD method is faster in speed and gives more precise shape estimates than previous DFD techniques for both synthetic and real scenes.

Studies on the Quality of Dried Persimmons (건시(乾枾)의 품질(品質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the quality of dried persimmons of several varieties using the analysis of sugar contents by high-performance liquid chromatography, the texture profile analysis by instron texturemeter, and the sensory evaluation. Soluble sugars detected in dried persimmons were mainly glucose and fluctose. The nearly same amounts of glucose and fructose presented in the dried persimmons although there were some differences among varieties tested and sucrose was only little amounts. Namyang Susi was the highest in fracturability and hardness. Namyang Susi and Kojongsi were higher than other dried persimmons in all parametersr, but Hiratanenashi were low in all parameters comparactively. In the sensory evaluations, Hiratanenashi recorded the highest scores in all items and the next were Sangju Dungsi, Chungdo Bansi, Kojongsi and Namyang Susi in order.

  • Content adaptive watermark embedding algorithm using a stochastic image model in the multiwavelet transform is proposed in this paper. A watermark is embedded into the perceptually significant coefficients (PSCs) of each subband using multiwavelet transform. The PSCs in high frequency subband are selected by SSQ, that is, by setting the thresholds as the one half of the largest coefficient in each subband. The perceptual model is applied with a stochastic approach based on noise visibility function (NVF) that has local image properties for watermark embedding. This model uses stationary Generalized Gaussian model characteristic because watermark has noise properties. The watermark estimation use shape parameter and variance of subband region. it is derive content adaptive criteria according to edge and texture, and flat region. The experiment results of the proposed watermark embedding method based on multiwavelet transform techniques were found to be excellent invisibility and robustness.

Threshold Subsoil Bulk Density for Optimal Soil Physical Quality in Upland: Inferred Through Parameter Interactions and Crop Growth Inhibition

  • Optimal range of soil physical quality to enhance crop productivity or to improve environmental health is still in dispute for the upland soil. We hypothesized that the optimal range might be established by comparing soil physical parameters and their interactions inhibiting crop growth. The parameter identifying optimal range covered favorable conditions of aeration, permeability and root extension. To establish soil physical standard two experiments were conducted as follows; 1) investigating interactions of bulk density and aeration porosity in the laboratory test and 2) determining effects of soil compaction and deep & conventional tillage on physical properties and crop growth in the field test. The crops were Perilla frutescens, Zea mays L., Solanum tuberosum L. and Secale cereael. The saturated hydraulic conductivity, bulk density from the root depth, root growth and stem length were obtained. Higher bulk density showed lower aeration porosity and hydraulic conductivity, and finer texture had lower threshold bulk density at 10% aeration bulk density. Reduced crop growth by subsoil compaction was higher in silt clay loam compared to other textures. Loam soil had better physical improvement in deep rotary tillage plot. Combined with results of the present studies, the soil physical quality was possibly assessed by bulk density index. Threshold subsoil bulk density as the upper value were $1.55Mg\;m^{-3}$ in sandy loam, $1.50Mg\;m^{-3}$ in loam and $1.45Mg\;m^{-3}$ in silty clay loam for optimal soil physical quality in upland.

Quality Characteristics of White Bread with Arrowroot Powder (칡 분말을 첨가한 식빵의 품질 특성)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects and availability of arrowroot powder in making white bread. The characteristics of pasting, farinogram and alveogram of the dough containing arrowroot powder were analyzed. Further, the physicochemical properties of white bread were analyzed by different mixing ratios (0, 3, 5 and 7%) of arrowroot powder during storage periods. When 7% of arrowroot powder was added, the initial pasting temperature of the dough by using a RVA (rapid visco analyzer) was significantly increased. Peak viscosity, holding strength, break down, final viscosity and set back were decreased by increasing added arrowroot powder. With the increasing amounts of arrowroot powder, the values of farinogram and alveogram parameter for the dough showed a tendency to decrement. The texture profile analysis of the white bread revealed that hardness, springiness, cohesiveness and gumminess were increased by adding arrowroot powder and further, the storage time was longer. By increasing the amount of added arrowroot powder, the L value of the white bread was decreased, whereas the a, b value were increased. In the sensory evaluation, the white bread of the control and that of the added 3% arrowroot powder showed the highest preference in total score.

Soil Related Parameters Assessment Comparing Runoff Analysis using Harmonized World Soil Database (HWSD) and Detailed Soil Map (HWSD와 정밀토양도를 이용한 유출해석시 토양 매개변수 특성 비교 평가)

  • Harmonized World Soil Database (HWSD) including the global soil information has been implemented to the runoff analysis in many watersheds of the world. However, its accuracy can be a critical issue in the modeling because of the limitation the low resolution reflecting the physical properties of soil in a watershed. Accordingly, this study attempted to assess the effect of HWSD in modeling by comparing parameters of the rainfall-runoff model using HWSD with the detailed soil map. For this, Grid based Rainfall-runoff Model (GRM) was employed in the Hyangseok watershed. The results showed that both of two soil maps in the rainfall-runoff model are able to well capture the observed runoff. However, compared with the detailed soil map, HWSD produced more uncertainty in the GRM parameters related to soil depth and hydraulic conductivity during the calibrations than the detailed soil map. Therefore, the uncertainty from the limited information on soil texture in HWSD should be considered for better calibration of a rainfall-runoff model.

LiDAR Data Interpolation Algorithm for 3D-2D Motion Estimation (3D-2D 모션 추정을 위한 LiDAR 정보 보간 알고리즘)

  • The feature-based visual SLAM requires 3D positions for the extracted feature points to perform 3D-2D motion estimation. LiDAR can provide reliable and accurate 3D position information with low computational burden, while stereo camera has the problem of the impossibility of stereo matching in simple texture image region, the inaccuracy in depth value due to error contained in intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameter, and the limited number of depth value restricted by permissible stereo disparity. However, the sparsity of LiDAR data may increase the inaccuracy of motion estimation and can even lead to the result of motion estimation failure. Therefore, in this paper, we propose three interpolation methods which can be applied to interpolate sparse LiDAR data. Simulation results obtained by applying these three methods to a visual odometry algorithm demonstrates that the selective bilinear interpolation shows better performance in the view point of computation speed and accuracy.

  • YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-{\delta}}$(YBCO) high temperature superconducting thin films were grown on SrTiO$_3$single crystal substrates by pulsed laser deposition(PLD). The texture and lattice parameter of the YBCO films were analysed using the GADDS (general area detector diffraction system) which enables XRD analyses to be done faster and with fewer sample movement than with the XRD system with point detector. The XRD results of the films grown in different deposition conditions are reported together with the SEM microstructure analysis results.ysis results.

Visual Tactile Attributes in Online Product Presentations for Improving Purchase Intention

  • Online shopping is increasing worldwide. Providing customers actual feeling of the product is essential in online shopping. Various technological aids can be used to support visual feeling. When delivering visual tangibility, it is important to study which attributes are significant in product presentations that best portray the actual tactileness. In this perspective, we suggest 'visual tactility' (VT) as a parameter for delivering tangibility in visual presentation. By measuring visual tactility in different product types, latent factors of visual tactility were identified and their influence on purchase intention was determined in this study. We defined material properties of touch such as surface texture, hardness, temperature, and weight as Visual Tactility (VT), the influential factor of tactility. We investigated the influence of VT on product purchase intention and analyzed tactileness within four online product presentations: single static picture, multi static pictures, zoom, and video. Our purpose was to investigate underlying effects of visual tactile attributes on touch and determine their influences according to online product presentation formats. Our results showed that visual tactility positively affected purchase intention and that each attribute differed in importance according to product type. Moreover, this study revealed a strong relation between online product presentation and VT attributes. These results provide a guide when selecting which presentation is optimal for delivering a product's tactility in online shopping situation.
