Developing textile design having watercolor effect and woven texture using Photoshop for Transfer Digital Textile Printing(DTP)

  • Computer development and new printing technology allow us to express a new type of digital textile designs those were not possible in the past. In this study, watercolor overlaying effect of various colors was tried using airbrush tool in Photoshop program. Photoshop program is a powerful graphic tool and can be used in textile design area to generate various types of designs. Woven texture was also applied to the design to give yarn dyed effects or rich appearance. Photoshop program was also used to develop woven texture without the help of the professional textile CAD. Photoshop channels enables the designers to apply various textures to the image. Plain weave and houndstooth were applied in this study. Colorways of the developed designs having watercolor effect and woven texture by applying Photoshop color adjustment function. Quick and simultaneous changes of colors were possible using this method. The developed textile designs were printed by transfer DTP. Successful textile design prints were expressed and showed watercolor overlaying effect and woven texture. The printed textiles show a little brighter color, and therefore, sample printing is recommendable in case of color sensitive production.

  • Through reviewing and comparing the current virtual shopping malls web sites integrated VR into E-commerce, this paper analyzed both the advantages and disadvantages of two kinds of methods for product presentation: 2D image based and 3D model based presentation method. Using the virtual shopping mall (EasyMall) as a showcase, we presented the architecture of the system and the development technologies, especially those in the mixed presentation method. The presentation and customization methods in the two related modules, including the PhoneShow for mobile phone and EasyShow for textile products, were discussed. It indicated that the integration of E-commerce with VR could provide consumers with virtual experience and intelligent service for business activities. Furthermore, the product presentation methods can be made available for use in different cases.

고 정밀 캠 프로파일 CNC 연삭기용 CAD/CAM 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of CAD/CAM System for High Precision Cam Profile CNC Grinding Machine)

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many automatic equipments, such as textile machinery, internal combustion engines and other automatic devices. In order to obtain the positive motion of follower by rotating cam, its shape should be correctly designed and manufactured. In present paper, a CAD/CAM system is developed for shape design of disk cams using relative velocity method and NC code generation using the biarc curve interpolation. And, a disk cam is successfully manufactured by the developed CAD/CAM system. Thus, it is shown that the developed CAD/CAM system can be used for high precision cam profile CNC grinding machine.

의류학 전공학생의 어패럴 패턴 CAD에 대한 인지도 및 교육효과에 관한 조사연구 (Investigation on the Education Effect and Recognition of Apparel Pattern CAD System on the Apparel Majority Student)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the teaching method and cognition process in using the PAD, Lectra and Investronica pattern CAD system. It is necessary to gather information about apparel pattern CAD to enable clothing and textile educators to efficiently incorporate CAD into their curricula and to provide more substantial information. Interviews and questionnaires were used in the research and twenty four questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Students thought that new technology such as apparel pattern CAD is important in the apparel industry, and they have a positive vision toward such innovation. 2) Student who study harder during in CAD class worked easily of all PAD, Investronica and Lectra system. 3) The most preferred teaching method is to small group instruction by the instructor and then having feedback from the instructor. 4) Students realized that they needed to take prerequisites subjects like clothing construction. 5) The most interesting step is the pattern grading system and the least interesting but easiest step is digitize for patterns in the Investronica system.

직물 시뮬레이션을 활용한 금문 단청 문양의 자카드 직물 디자인 연구 (Study on Jacquard Fabric Design of Dan-Chung Motives Using Fabric Simulation)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the development of jacquard fabrics by the Bi-Dan patterns of Dan-Chung as one of the traditional korean symbols. For performing this design study, it designed a surface design of the geometric images in Bi-Dan patterns using by EAT Jacquard Textile CAD system and simulated to fabrics for the clothing & bags. To consider the modern image of Bi-Dan patterns in the Dan-Chung motives, the theoretical background was made on the basic elements, compositions and symbolic meanings of Dan-Chung patterns. To merchandise the fashion items and see the visual image, these jacquard fabric simulations was processed by two-dimension modeling through YoungWoo CNI CAD. The applied weave structure was based on a single layer of 5 or 10 points-satin and a double layer of 8 points-satin. Among the fabric simulations of Bi-Dan patterns, the six simulated fabrics were woven into the real jacquard fabrics under the electronic Stabuli jacquard loom in $120{\sim}130$ picks per inch and 171 ends per inch. These developed jacquard fabrics of Bi-Dan patterns were appeared a contemporary yet ethnic feeling so that they could make use of the unique korean cultural products by the further commercialization.

3D CAD System에 의한 무대의상 디자인개발 사례연구 - 친환경전통직물제품 패턴설계를 중심으로 - (A Case Study for the Stage Costumes Connected with the 3D CAD System -Focusing on the Apparel Pattern Design for Traditional Green Fabrics-)

  • This study develops a traditional green fabric pattern design through an apparel CAD system. The method used simulated stage costumes and evaluated the consumer satisfaction connected with a 3D fitting system. The results are as follows. Computerization of the pattern making process can provide higher accuracy and efficiency in apparel pattern making and marking for green fabrics. A Stage costumes design was developed; subsequently, the developed dress patterns are automatically depicted to the input of the body size of the consumer and marked using marking program. This results show that it has an effect on narrow and expensive green fabrics. Stage costumes design can make a simulation by a 3D Fitting system. The results of this study can provide higher consumer satisfaction through a survey of 30 consumers. Stage costumes should attract the sympathy of the spectators. The Acceptance of Andong region's traditional beauty is required. We found that a relationship of performance and clothes, physical functionality and beauty of costumes, possibility of commercialization, and the possible use of a 3D Fitting system use are evaluated. A continuous study of regional culture resources is required since there is a significant possibility for the long-term development of stage clothes.

CAW(Computer-Aided Weaving) 시스템을 이용한 도비 직조디자인 연구 (A study on Dobby Weave Design using Computer-Aided Weaving System)

  • The purpose of this study was to research about Dobby weave design using Computer-Aided Weaving System. For performing this design study, first, it was researched the characteristics of the classified woven fabrics, weaving processing, structure of Dobby loom, and Computer-Aided Dobby Weaving system theoretically. To develop Dobby woven design, Patternland Weave Simulator(U.S.A) for computer weave system was used. Among the developed Dobby woven designs by computer weaving system, mainly three of them were selected and woven into Dobby loom. To see the visual image of the fabric end-use, some of the scanned Dobby fabrics were simulated to the three-dimensional virtual images by Alias CAD system. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. Before the step of weaving Dobby fabrics on the woven design works, Computer-Aided Weaving system can be done very easily to apply the design step of Dobby woven fabrics, specially in case of the complicated woven structure. Also the usage of the simulation CAD system in visual image of the final products, ultimately can be saved cost and developed the higher value-added goods in more response to consumer demands.

  • This investigation reported the simulation technologies to design the 3-dimensional fabrics such as 3 dimensional multi-layered fabric, 3 dimensional braided fabric and spacer fabric. The simulation system or software has been actively used to develop products of 3 dimensional fabric which can be reduced development costs and time. Thus, many countries such as Japan, Germany, China, and U.K. show great interests on simulation technologies for developing new materials and processes including 3 dimensional fabric field. In this study, simulation systems have been reviewed for the 3 dimensional fabric design system from Mikawa Textile Research Center, Japan; ProCad and ProFab from Karl Mayer and Texion, Germany; xComposites from China; TexGen from Nottingham University, U.K.; TexPro from Young Woo CnI, Korea, respectively.

텍스타일 디자이너의 인지적 모형에 대한 실증적 접근 - 디지털 나염 전용 캐드 설계를 위한 모티브 개발을 중심으로- (An Empirical Approach on Textile Designer's Mental Model focused on the Motif Development for designing CAD tool of Digital Textile Printing)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 비디오/오디오 프로토콜 분석 방식을 이용해서 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스 중 모티브 개발 단계에서 디지털 나염(DTP : Digital Textile Printing) 전용 캐드(CAD)와 같은 디자인 저작도구를 설계할 때 어떤 요소에 중점을 두고 개발 할 것인지에 대한 향상된 지침을 마련하는데 있다. 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스에 대한 프로토콜 분석을 위해 선행 연구를 고찰하여 디자인 행동 범주의 틀을 하향식(top-down)방식으로 설정하고 실제 행동 프로토콜 (action protocol) 분석을 통해 상향식(bottom-up)방식으로 세부 디자인 행동을 도출하였다. 텍스타일 디자인은 선행연구의 건축디자인과는 다른 특징을 지니기 때문에 프로토콜 분석에서도 새로운 디자인 행동 범주(action category)가 필요하게 되었다. 이를 위하여 모델 휴먼 프로세서(Model Human Processor)이론을 근거로 디자인 행동을 모터 행동(motor action), 지각 행동(perceptual action), 인지 행동(cognitive action)의 세 가지 범주[4]로 나누었으며 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스에 적합한 코딩 스킴(coding scheme)을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 이 새로운 코딩 스킴을 토대로 디자인 저작도구에 대한 디자이너의 인지적 모형(Cognitive Model)을 개발하였다. 이렇게 개발된 디자이너의 인지적 모형은 디지털 나염을 기반으로 하는 모티브 개발 단계에서 스케치와 렌더링에 대한 디자인 저작 도구의 향상된 설계지침 뿐만 아니라 방향도 시사하였다.
