An Audio-Visual Teaching Aid (AVTA) with Scrolling Display and Speech to Text over the Internet

  • In this Paper, an Audio-Visual Teaching aid (AVTA) for use in a classroom and with Internet is presented. A system, which was designed and tested, consists of a wireless Microphone system, Text to Speech conversion Software, Noise filtering circuit and a Computer. An IBM compatible PC with sound card and Network Interface card and a Web browser and a voice and text messenger service were used to provide slightly delayed text and also voice over the internet for remote teaming, while providing scrolling text from a real time lecture in a classroom. The motivation for design of this system, was to aid Korean students who may have difficulty in listening comprehension while have, fairly good reading ability of text. This application of this system is twofold. On one hand it will help the students in a class to view and listen to a lecture, and on the other hand, it will serve as a vehicle for remote access (audio and text) for a classroom lecture. The project provides a simple and low cost solution to remote learning and also allows a student to have access to classroom in emergency situations when the student, can not attend a class. In addition, such system allows the student in capturing a teacher's lecture in audio and text form, without the need to be present in class or having to take many notes. This system will therefore help students in many ways.

  • This thesis describes the method for well voice announcement using the TTS(Text-To-Speech) technology in the shop music broadcasting service. Offering a high quality TTS sound service for each shop requires a great expense. According to a report on the architectural acoustics the room acoustic indexes such as reverberation time and early decay time are closely connected with a subjective awareness about acoustics. By using the result the customers will be able to recognize better the voice announcement by applying sound effect to speech files made by TTS. The result of an aural comprehension examination has shown better about almost all of the parameters by applying reverb effect to TTS sound.

  • The Disaster text service is a text-based service for public alert. But, foreigners who are not familiar with korean can not understand exactly the disaster text messages provided. Using multimedia information such as images is expected to solve this problem. However, the current disaster message service method is not suitable for multimedia information delivery. This study proposes a firmware-based disaster character service method for displaying disaster image in a terminal. A device using this method should store images corresponding to the type of disaster and use special characters to inform the presentation of image in a terminal. This approach can be implemented in the new firmware installed device and it can be work with the existing device.

  • In the areas of CAE, CAD and CAO integration & automation technology, the word 'File Wrapping' means a virtualization of TEXT files that supports variables-based I/Os like variable assignments in programming languages. This File Wrapping process is one of the cornerstones of CAE, CAD and GAO integration & automation, and the performance of File Wrapping process, which is depending on the sire of a TEXT file to be accessed and the number of regions and their distribution, has a critical effect on the total performance of the CAE, CAD and CAO integration & automation systems. In this paper, we define TEXT File Region Management which generalizes the main functions of the File Wrapping process, and describe a prototype of TEXT file Region Management which is implemented as a Grid service. After that, the validity of the proposed model and the TEXT File Region Management service are discussed with evaluation results of the prototype.

Analysis on Topic Trends and Topic Modeling of KSHSM Journal Papers using Text Mining (텍스트마이닝을 활용한 보건의료산업학회지의 토픽 모델링 및 토픽트렌드 분석)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze representative topics and topic trends of papers in Korean Society and Health Service Management(KSHSM) Journal. Methods : We collected English abstracts and key words of 516 papers in KSHSM Journal from 2007 to 2017. We utilized Python web scraping programs for collecting the papers from Korea Citation Index web site, and RStudio software for topic analysis based on latent Dirichlet allocation algorithm. Results : 9 topics were decided as the best number of topics by perplexity analysis and the resultant 9 topics for all the papers were extracted using Gibbs sampling method. We could refine 9 topics to 5 topics by deep consideration of meanings of each topics and analysis of intertopic distance map. In topic trends analysis from 2007 to 2017, we could verify 'Health Management' and 'Hospital Service' were two representative topics, and 'Hospital Service' was prevalent topic by 2011, but the ratio of the two topics became to be similar from 2012. Conclusions : We discovered 5 topics were the best number of topics and the topic trends reflected the main issues of KSHSM Journal, such as name revision of the society in 2012.

  • Various mobile contents have been developed with the spread of cellular phones. Above all things, nowadays, an idle application services are developed through competition in mobile phone manufacturers and mobile communication companies. In this paper, we propose that the idle application with text message service is easy to receive and edit. It is complement to function of SMS in use and can be effective information managing method, for example, it arrays messages and uses diary feature to set permissions when it send and receive standardized text message. We expect that proposed service will be adopted without additional cost in wireless units.

  • According to increasing SNS users and developing smart devices like smart phone and tablet PC recently, many techniques to classify user emotions with social network information are researching briskly. The use emotion classification stands for distinguishing its emotion with text and images listed on his/her SNS. This paper suggests a method to classify user emotions through sampling a value of a representative figure on a trigonometrical function, a representative adjective on text, and a canny algorithm on images. The sampling representative adjective on text is selected as one of high frequency in the samplings and measured values of positive-negative by SentiWordNet. Figures sampled on images are selected as the representative in figures; triangle, quadrangle, and circle as well as classified user emotions by measuring pleasure-unpleased values as a type of figures and inclines. Finally, this is re-defined as x-y graph that represents pleasure-unpleased and positive-negative values with wheel of emotions by Plutchik. Also, we are anticipating for applying user-customized service through classifying user emotions on wheel of emotions by Plutchik that is redefined the representative adjectives and figures.

Analysis of Trends of Critical Issues and Topics in the Service Sector: Comparing YouTube Videos and Research Publications (서비스 분야의 주요 이슈와 주제에 대한 흐름 분석: 유튜브 동영상과 학술연구 비교)

  • This study examines critical issues and topics related to services using YouTube videos and research publications. We analyzed 2,853 YouTube videos and 19,973 research papers related to services, released during the 2013-June, 2023 period, using text mining and network analysis. In addition, the collected data was divided into pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic periods to explore how key issues and topics regarding services have changed. These papers were sequentially analyzed through text mining and network construction and procedures. The results indicate that the central themes of YouTube videos were IT, data, and solution, while academic research focused on service quality, quality, and customer satisfaction. Regarding ego network analysis, the key issues in YouTube video contents revolved primarily around words related to the service industry. Although it was found that they generally lacked specific industry fields, academic papers explored diverse issues in various service fields. The results of this study can be utilized to understand changes in customer concerns in the service industry from practical and academic perspectives.

  • QOOK 인터넷전화는 BcN(Broadband Convergence Network) IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem)기반으로 음성/영상 전화를 제공한다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 QOOK 부가서비스인 한글로서비스는 인터넷 전화기를 이용하여 착신자 전화번호를 눌러 발,착신자간에 통화가 이루어지는 것이 아니라 전화번호를 모르더라도 한글이름을 입력하여 발,착신자간에 통화가 이루어지는 서비스이다. 본 논문은 일반 전화번호기반의 통화서비스에서 진화되어 전화번호가 아닌 한글이름을 이용하여 발신, 착신을 위한 BcN_소프트스위치, 응용서버 등에서 입력된 이름을 처리하는 기능을 소개한다.
