  • The present study is purposed to establish a systematic theory for user-friendly approach to the creation of using a programming language using Csound. Csound is a world-wide computer music programming language and a software synthesizer specialized for prominent sound designers developed by Barry Vercoe at the Media Laboratory in M.I.T. The introduction and the main body of this paper suggested as the starting point of creating electronic music and musical sound the time of combination of music with natural sound or sound from specific media from the viewpoint of traditional Western music. and presents a systematic method composed of the principle of the operation of Csound and basic data samples.

  • It is the latest fashion of interesting with software education in public school environment and also consider as high priority issue of curriculum for college freshman with programming 101 courses. The block-based programming tool is used widely for the beginner and provides several positive features compare than text-based programming language tools. To measure quality of programming code elaborately which is based script language, it is need to very tough manual process. As a result the previously research related with evaluation of block-based script code has been focused very simple methods in which normalize the number of blocks used which is related with programming concept. In such cases in this, it is difficult to measure structural vulnerability of script code and implicit programming concept which does not expose. In this research, the framework is proposed which enable to measure and evaluate quality of code script of block-based programming tools and also provides method to find of vulnerability of script code. In this framework, the quality metrics is constructed to structuralize implicit programming concept and then developed the quality measure and vulnerability model of script to improve level of programming. Consequently, the proposed methods enable to check of level of programming and predict the heuristic target level.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore ways to assess computational thinking from a formative perspective and to design a process for assessing programming learning using Python. Therefore, this study explored the computational thinking domain and analyzed research related to assessment design. Also, this study identified the areas of Python programming learning that beginners learn and the areas of computational thinking ability that can be obtained through Python learning. Through this, we designed an assessment method that provides feedback by analyzing syntax corresponding to computational thinking ability. Besides, self-assessment is possible through reflective thinking by using the flow-chart and pseudo-code to express ideas, and peer feedback is designed through code sharing and communication using community.

  • In this study, we developed a test tool to measure the computational thinking ability of middle school students and investigated their computational thinking power using the tool. The test tool used exploratory factor analysis to examine the computational thinking scales of Korkmaz et al. (2017) and derive suitable factors and questions for middle school students in Korea. The developed test tool was applied to 492 middle school students to analyze differences in computational thinking ability according to gender, grade, programming experience, type of programming language, and interest. According to the study, male Korean middle school students had higher computing power than females. In addition, students who had programming experience or used text-based rather than block-based programming languages demonstrated higher computational thinking. There was no significant difference in the computational thinking of middle school students according to grade, and the level of interest in artificial intelligence only had a slight influence on computational thinking.

  • In this study, the direction for hierarchical curriculum organization about software education in Korea was suggested in terms of overall execution of software education. The international case studies especially was conducted in order to suggest the propel educational programming language for level of students in the programming activity. In terms of the international case studies, the type of programming language was examined, which is suggested to each school level as a part of required regular curriculum. Then, the direction was supposed to suggest the instructional system organization of software education for Korea through the result of case studies. The results of case studies indicated that elementary school use the block based programming language, and text based programming languages are used from middle school.

  • This paper proposes a teaching plan of programming language class for university of education students amusingly with LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot. The goal of class is not fragmentary knowledge acquirement but problem-solving of maze. This robot communicates with GUI named NXT-G installed in computer via USB. GUI is not text-based but icon-based programming tool. This paper designs a semester with 3 steps such as beginner, intermediate, high-rank. Beginner step is consists of learning of basic functions such as GUI usage and several sensors of robot. Intermediate step is consists of solving of maze problem with low complexity. High-rank step is consists of solving maze problem with medium and high complexity. All maze problem-solving have 3 process with algorithm, flowchart, and programming with stack.

  • This study proposes a decorative typeface which is produced through the concept of trigonometric functions in an open-source programming language known as Processing. First, the theoretical background of Processing and trigonometric functions as well as previous research in this area are analyzed. Second, basic modules of 'V', 'I', 'O', and 'M' were created for use as the final alphabet typeface with the concept of a trigonometric function. Third, a decorative parabolic curve that encircles the base module was created. Finally, the modules created on Processing were edited in Adobe Illustrator to create a typeface set with characters from A to Z. Various artworks using Programming can produce an infinite number of different versions by modifying only some of the variables and codes, and this method can include multimedia features such as text, images, videos, interactive art and various forms of content and media. Therefore, with regard to expression, the possibilities are endless. In this study, I attempt to expand the field of visual culture using programming and computational methodologies. In contrast to the digital typeface production method, which relies on existing graphic tools, this study is meaningful because it expands the range of use of decorative typefaces.

  • Recently many different programming languages have emerged for the development of bioinformatics applications. In addition to the traditional languages, languages from open source projects such as BioPerl, BioPython, and BioJava have become popular because they provide special tools for biological data processing and are easy to use. However, it is not well-studied which of these programming languages will be most suitable for a given bioinformatics task and which factors should be considered in choosing a language for a project. Like many other application projects, bioinformatics projects also require various types of tasks. Accordingly, it will be a challenge to characterize all the aspects of a project in order to choose a language. However, most projects require some common and primitive tasks such as file I/O, text processing, and basic computation for counting, translation, statistics, etc. This paper presents the benchmarking results of six popular languages, Perl, BioPerl, Python, BioPython, Java, and BioJava, for several common and simple bioinformatics tasks. The experimental results of each language are compared through quantitative evaluation metrics such as execution time, memory usage, and size of the source code. Other qualitative factors, including writeability, readability, portability, scalability, and maintainability, that affect the success of a project are also discussed. The results of this research can be useful for developers in choosing an appropriate language for the development of bioinformatics applications.
