  • In this paper, we presented a ciphering method whose target data is any kind of digital bit-stream. It uses a chaotic system as the main encrypting tool, MISR (Multi-Input Signature Register), and shift-and-rotation function, all of which are exclusive-ORed with the plaintext. Also, it incorporates a cipher text feedback mode such that part of the previously ciphered data is fed back to encrypt the current data. The encryption block size and the amount of feedback data are different at each ciphering operation. Experimental results with the image/video date showed that this method has enough speed and encryption effect with negligible latency time. Thus, we are expecting it to have various application areas that need high speed stream ciphering with high security level.

  • Although conventional text-based passwords are used as the most common authentication method, they have significant drawbacks such as guess attacks, dictionary attacks, key loggers, and shoulder-surfing. To address the vulnerabilities of traditional text-based passwords, graphical password schemes have been developed as possible alternative solutions, but they have a potential drawback that they are more vulnerable to shoulder-surfing than conventional text-based passwords. In this paper, we present a new Hangul password input method to prevent shoulder-surfing attacks. Our approach uses Hangul as a password, and it requires the users to locate their password in the given wheeling password grid instead of entering the password. Our approach makes it difficult for attackers to observe a user's password since the system shows the users' passwords with decoy characters as the noise on the screen. Also, we provide security analysis for random attacks, dictionary attacks, and shoulder-surfing attacks, and it shows that our password system is robust against these attacks.

  • The Question Similarity Measurement of Chinese Crop Diseases and Insect Pests (QSM-CCD&IP) aims to judge the user's tendency to ask questions regarding input problems. The measurement is the basis of the Agricultural Knowledge Question and Answering (Q & A) system, information retrieval, and other tasks. However, the corpus and measurement methods available in this field have some deficiencies. In addition, error propagation may occur when the word boundary features and local context information are ignored when the general method embeds sentences. Hence, these factors make the task challenging. To solve the above problems and tackle the Question Similarity Measurement task in this work, a corpus on Chinese crop diseases and insect pests(CCDIP), which contains 13 categories, was established. Then, taking the CCDIP as the research object, this study proposes a Chinese agricultural text similarity matching model, namely, the AgrCQS. This model is based on mixed information extraction. Specifically, the hybrid embedding layer can enrich character information and improve the recognition ability of the model on the word boundary. The multi-scale local information can be extracted by multi-core convolutional neural network based on multi-weight (MM-CNN). The self-attention mechanism can enhance the fusion ability of the model on global information. In this research, the performance of the AgrCQS on the CCDIP is verified, and three benchmark datasets, namely, AFQMC, LCQMC, and BQ, are used. The accuracy rates are 93.92%, 74.42%, 86.35%, and 83.05%, respectively, which are higher than that of baseline systems without using any external knowledge. Additionally, the proposed method module can be extracted separately and applied to other models, thus providing reference for related research.

  • When analyzing high dimensional data such as text data, if we input all the variables as explanatory variables, statistical learning procedures may suffer from over-fitting problems. Furthermore, computational efficiency can deteriorate with a large number of variables. Dimensionality reduction techniques such as feature selection or feature extraction are useful for dealing with these problems. The sparse principal component analysis (SPCA) is one of the regularized least squares methods which employs an elastic net-type objective function. The SPCA can be used to remove insignificant principal components and identify important variables from noisy observations. In this study, we propose a dimension reduction procedure for text data based on the SPCA. Applying the proposed procedure to real data, we find that the reduced feature set maintains sufficient information in text data while the size of the feature set is reduced by removing redundant variables. As a result, the proposed procedure can improve classification accuracy and computational efficiency, especially for some classifiers such as the k-nearest neighbors algorithm.

  • In this paper, we outline the user interface problems that the text messaging users face to provide empirical basis for developing better improved mobile text messaging system. Our initial hypothesis was that the majority of the problems that the text messaging users face, namely, 1) difficulty in correctly understanding the intent of the incoming messages and 2) problem with frequently mis-addressing the recipient of the outgoing messages, can be accounted for by the poor usability of the text messaging user interface. Our analysis is based on the text message-based communication diaries, which were recorded for one week by each and every one of 75 college students, and survey taken from the same subjects. The data was collected in 2004. The students listed various difficulties including the limited message length, obscure input method, lack of mean to express emotional content, lack of receipt confirmation, lack of auto save feature when preparing messages to send, and lack of means to permanently save messages. Some of these problems were also identified in the previous studies. However, we were able to gather additional problems that the users face and also elicit potential solutions to remedy the problems. From these findings and analysis, we attempted to provide ways to improve the text messaging user interface.

  • This paper is related to the method of adding a emotional speech corpus to a high-quality large corpus based speech synthesizer, and generating various synthesized speech. We made the emotional speech corpus as a form which can be used in waveform concatenated speech synthesizer, and have implemented the speech synthesizer that can be generated various synthesized speech through the same synthetic unit selection process of normal speech synthesizer. We used a markup language for emotional input text. Emotional speech is generated when the input text is matched as much as the length of intonation phrase in emotional speech corpus, but in the other case normal speech is generated. The BIs(Break Index) of emotional speech is more irregular than normal speech. Therefore, it becomes difficult to use the BIs generated in a synthesizer as it is. In order to solve this problem we applied the Variable Break[3] modeling. We used the Japanese speech synthesizer for experiment. As a result we obtained the natural emotional synthesized speech using the break prediction module for normal speech synthesize.

  • The Compared to general sentences, the Equation uses a complex structure and various characters and symbols, so that it is not possible to input all the character sets by simply inputting a keyboard. Therefore, the editor is implemented in a text editor such as Hangul or Word. In order to express the Equation properly, it is necessary to have the learner information which can be meaningful to interpret the syntax. Even if a character is input, it can be represented by another expression depending on the relationship between the size and the position. In other words, the form of the expression is expressed as a tree model considering the relationship between characters and symbols such as the position and size to be expressed. As a field of character recognition application, a technique of recognizing characters or symbols(code) has been widely known, but a method of inputting and interpreting a Equation requires a more complicated analysis process than a general text. In this paper, we have implemented a Equation recognizer that recognizes characters in expressions and quickly analyzes the position and size of expressions.

  • A computer aided design system for spur, helical, bevel and worm gears by using AutoCAD system and its AutoLISP computer language was newly developed in this study. Two methods are available for a designer to draw a gear. The first method needs the gear design parameters such as pressure, module, number of tooth, shaft angle, velocity, materials, etc. When the gear design parameters are inputted, a gear is drawn in AutoCAD system and maximum allowable power and shaft diameter are calculated additionally. The second method calculates all dimensions and gear design parameters to draw a gear when the information such as transmission, reduction ratio, rpm, materials and pressure are inputted. The system includes four programs. Each program is composed of a data input module, a database module, a strength calculation module, a drawing module, a text module and a drawing edit module. In conclusion, the CAD system would be widely used in companies to find the geometric data and manufacturing course.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of a table structure recognition in various table types for document processing automation. A table with items surrounded by ruled lines are analyzed by detecting horizontal and vertical lines for recognizing the table structure. In case of a table with items separated by spaces, the table structure are recognized by analyzing the arrangement of row items. After recognizing the table structure, the areas of the table items are input into OCR engine and the character recognition result output to a text file in a structured format such as CSV or JSON. In simulation results, the average accuracy of table item recognition is about 94%.

  • The optical character recognition (OCR) is a technique to extract and recognize texts from images. It is an important preprocessing step in data analysis since most actual text information is embedded in images. Many OCR engines have high recognition accuracy for images where texts are clearly separable from background, such as white background and black lettering. However, they have low recognition accuracy for images where texts are not easily separable from complex background. To improve this low accuracy problem with complex images, it is necessary to transform the input image to make texts more noticeable. In this paper, we propose a method to segment an input image into text lines to enable OCR engines to recognize each line more efficiently, and to determine the final output by comparing the recognition rates of CLAHE module and Two-step module which distinguish texts from background regions based on image processing techniques. Through thorough experiments comparing with well-known OCR engines, Tesseract and Abbyy, we show that our proposed method have the best recognition accuracy with complex background images.
