  • A Trolley line is a very important equipment among electric railway equipments since it contacts directly with pantograph and supplies electricity on the electromotive. Such it was thought that a trolley line need not to consider fatigue since the replace cycle by wear is shorter than the replace cycle by fatigue breakage. But, the bending fatigue breakage accidents occurred several times at the Shinkansen trolley line in East Japan Railway Company. Therefore, in case of a new developed trolley line, the evaluation for bending fatigue life became more important, But, since there are not an authorized fatigue test method and a testing device for the trolley line, the quantitative evaluation is difficult. In this study, we analyzed the load and environment condition of trolley line used in the actual spot and the developed testing device that can evaluate bending fatigue properties of the trolley line as simulating the real condition. The bending fatigue test of the trolley line was achieved using the developed testing device and estimated the fatigue life of trolley line and also, established the fatigue test process.

  • In this study, a simplified FE model for evaluating seismic performance of valve support was suggested and an apparatus for a real structure testing was developed. The seismic performances of three different types of valve supports were evaluated by the real structure testing. By comparing the results between the real structure testing and FEA using the simplified FE model, it was verified that the suggested simplified FE model can be utilized for comparative evaluation of seismic performance of valve supports.

A Colour Support System for Townscape Based on Kansei and Colour Harmony Models

  • A townscape has been a main factor in urban-development problems in Japan. In the townscape, keeping harmony with environment is a common goal. But useful and meaningful goals are expressing individuality and impression of the town in the townscape. In this paper, we propose the colony planning support system system to improve the townscape. The system finds propositional colour combinations based on three elements, town image, colour harmony, and cost. The targets of this model are mostly townscapes in residential areas that already exist, In this paper, we introduce the construction of a Kansei evaluation model to quantify the impression. First, we conducted computer-based evaluational experiments for 20 subjects using the SD method to clarify the relationship between town image and street colours. We chose 16 adjective words related to town image and prepared 100 colour picture samples for the evaluation. After the experiments, we constructed the model using a neural network for each word. We chose 62 experimental results for the training data of the neural network and 20 results for the testing data. Each colour in the data was selected to have unique hue, brightness or saturation attributes, After the construction, we tested the model for accuracy. We input the testing data into the constructed model and calculated errors between the output from the model and the experimental results. Testing of the model showed that the model worked well for more than 80% of the samples. The model demonstrated influences of colours on the town image.

납착강도 충격시험 평가법에 관한 연구 (A Research on Evaluation Methods of Testing Impact of the Strength of Soldering)

  • So far, I Conducted an examination with focus on the type, characteristic, and test methods of impact test. which is a type of mechanical that evaluate materials. As mentioned previously, in testing soldering strength of soldering is the load when the object under experiment is broken down with the result of flexibility test or peel test. In this method, a hevay load is necessary until alloy of parent metal is bended, if the alloy of the parent metal has a large mechanical quality(peel strength or resisting power). Once the alloy of the parent metal is bended, however, it tends to come into pieces abruply form the part where soldered. Therefore, a metal has a high breakdown value if the degree of strength of its parent metal is high even if the result of measurement indicates otherwise. Thus, the result of the test did not correspond to the clinical result. Therefore, this study concludes as the following from a test of strength of soldering by mean of conducting an impact test, which is a type of mechanical evaluation methods : 1. Among various impact tests, a charpy thpe is more appropriate than the izod type in testing strength of soldering. 2. As far as test piece is concerned, to use subsized impact test piece is appropriate in the impact test in that it does not have notch. 3. In the matter of analysis, it is appropriate to measure absorbing energy which results from rupture of test piece.

미소균열 탐상을 위한 자기광학소자를 이용한 비파괴탐상법의 제안과 적용 (Application of a New NDI Method using Magneto-Optical Film for Inspection of Micro-Cracks)

  • 항공기나 대형 플랜트 등의 경년구조물에 있어서 제조 및 설계 혹은 작업환경 등에 의해 발생하는 미소결함은 응력부식파괴로 이어지는 결정적인 원인으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 제조단계에서의 결함의 검출뿐만 아니라 운전개지 후에 있어서도 비파괴검사에 기초를 둔 정기적인 건전성평가가 요구된다. 특히 구조물내의 미소균열 평가는 구조건전성 평가에 있어서 중요한 과제라 할 수 있다. 자기광학소자를 이용한 비파괴탐상법은 균열부근의 누설자속에 의한 자구 및 자벽의 변화를 이용하여 균열정보를 화상형태로 얻는다. 그러므로 빠른 탐상속도와 결과데이터 해석의 용이 그리고 실시간적으로 탐상결과를 획득할 수 있다는 장점을 지니고 있다. 본 논문은 자기광학소자를 이용한 새로운 비파괴적 탐상법을 제안하고, 본 탐상법을 이용하여 구조물에 존재하는 표면결함의 검출가능성 및 균열깊이의 평가를 실증하였다. 표면결함을 갖는 시험편과 파이프의 내면에 존재하는 피로균열을 대상으로 실험을 실시한 결과, 표면결함의 위치 및 2차원적 형상을 화상형식으로 얻을 수 있음을 증명하였다. 또한 피로시험중의 시험편을 대상으로 균열발생 및 균열진전과정을 평가를 통하여 원격탐상의 가능성을 제시하였다.

Validation of One-Step Real-Time RT-PCR Assay in Combination with Automated RNA Extraction for Rapid Detection and Quantitation of Hepatitis C Virus RNA for Routine Testing in Clinical Specimens

  • A one-step real-time quantitative RT-PCR assay in combination with automated RNA extraction was evaluated for routine testing of HCV RNA in the laboratory. Specific primers and probes were developed to detect 302 bp on 5'-UTR of HCV RNA. The assay was able to quantitate a dynamic linear range of $10^7-10^1$ HCV RNA copies/reaction ($R^2=0.997$). The synthetic HCV RNA standard of $1.84{\pm}0.1\;(mean{\pm}SD)$ copies developed in this study corresponded to 1 international unit (IU) of WHO International Standard for HCV RNA (96/790 I). The detection limit of the assay was 3 RNA copies/reaction (81 IU/ml) in plasma samples. The assay was comparable to the Amplicor HCV Monitor (Monitor) assay with correlation coefficient r=0.985, but was more sensitive than the Monitor assay. The assay could be completed within 3 h from RNA extraction to detection and data analysis for up to 32 samples. It allowed rapid RNA extraction, detection, and quantitation of HCV RNA in plasma samples. The method provided sufficient sensitivity and reproducibility and proved to be fast and labor-saving, so that it was suitable for high throughput HCV RNA test.

경계요소법을 이용한 결함의 초음파 산란장 해석 (Application of a Boundary element Method to the Analysis of ultrasonic Scattering by Flaws)

  • Numerical modeling of a nondestructive testing system plays an important role in many aspects of quantitative nondestructive evaluation (QNDE). The ultimate goal of a model is to predict test results for a specific flaw in a material. Thus, in ultrasonic testing, a system model should include the transducer, its radiation pattern, the beam reflection and propagation, and scattering from defects. In this paper attention is focused on the scattering model and the scattered fields by defects are observed by an elastodynamic boundary element method. Flaw types addressed are void-like and crack-like flaws. When transverse ultrasonic waves are obliquely incident on the flaw, the angular distribution of far-field scattered displacements are calculated and presented in the form of A-scan mode. The component signals obtained from each scattering problem are identified and their differences are addressed. The numerical results are also compared with those obtained by high frequency approximate solutions.

Effective Notch Stress Method for Fatigue Evaluation of Welded Joints in a Steel Bridge Deck

  • Effective notch stress, as an approach to evaluate the local stress at a notch (weld toe or root), is defined as the total stress assuming linear-elastic material behavior. This method can be effectively used to evaluate the fatigue performance of welded joints. In this study, finite element analysis results using the effective notch stress method were correlated with fatigue test results of rib-to-deck welded joints in a steel orthotropic bridge deck. Effective notch stress approach provided a good correlation with the crack pattern observed in the full-scale fatigue test. A higher effective notch stress at the critical weld toe than at the weld root was consistent with the dominant crack pattern observed at the weld toe during testing. The effective notch stress at the toe on the deck plate was about 80% higher than that on the rib; no cracks at the weld toe on the rib in the testing were observed. Maximum effective notch stress at the weld root occurred on the upper side of the root notch, which indicates that cracks are more likely to propagate into the deck plate, not into the weld metal. This is also consistent with the observed crack pattern in which the crack from the root propagated upward into the deck plate. No such crack pattern, propagating into the weld metal, was observed in the testing.

재생펄프의 점착성 이물질 정량 분석 방법 (Quantification Method of Macro Stickies for Recycled Pulps)

  • A new test method has been developed for a quantitative evaluation of macro-stickies in recycled pulps. The method uses a fine slot screen to separate a sticky particles form fiber in the pulp samples. The obtained sticky particles were spread on filter paper and covered with silicon carbide powder in order to make the stickies area with sufficient contrast between stickies and background. The stickies are then counted by a scanner-based image analysis system. The validity of this evaluation method of stickies of KOCC, ONP and white ledger wastepaper recycling plants respectively. It is shown that this method can be applied for a quantitative determination of stickies content in various recycled pulp samples. With this testing method, reproducible and reliable data were obtained for the actual mill pulp samples.

방탄물자 신뢰성 평가(BRP)에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bulletproof Reliability Program)

  • 본 연구에서는 아직 수행되고 있지 않지만 향후 필요한 BRP(Bulletproof Reliability Program) 개념과 절차를 소개하고자 하였다. BRP 업무수행 체계는 다음과 같다. 먼저 국방부의 조정/통제 하에 기품원에서 연간 BRP 계획을 수립하고 시행을 주관한다. 다음으로 각 군 및 유관기관/부서의 의견을 수렴하여 BRP 대상 시료(Lot)를 선정하고 시험을 진행한다. 시험이 종료되면 종합된 결과를 각 군에 통보하며, 각 군에서는 후속조치를 수행한다. BRP 업무수행 절차는 매년 평가계획을 수립하는 사업(평가) 계획단계, 수립된 계획에 따라 일반검사, 기능시험, 운용시험 등을 수행하는 시험단계, 결과를 종합·분석하고 방탄물자의 성능 등을 감안하여 적정한 등급으로 판정하는 평가/분석단계, 그 결과에 따른 각 군의 후속조치 단계로 이루어져 있다. BRP 수행을 위한 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현재 일부 적체되는 시험물량과 개발 중인 워리어 플랫폼, 향후 발생할 BRP 물량을 적시에 시험하여 방탄물자의 적시 조달 및 장병의 안전성 향상, 국방예산의 절감을 위한 추가적인 시험장 건설이 필요하다. 둘째, 현재 사격시험만을 통한 방탄시험을 넘어 방탄물자의 신뢰성 평가방법을 개발하고 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 셋째, BRP가 장병의 안전성 보장 및 전투력 향상을 위한 필수적인 것임을 알리고 관련 업무의 시급성과 지원 필요성을 주요 관리자와 지휘관들에게 인식시키는 것이 필요하다.
