  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to identify differences in time, frequency, and methods of toothbrushing according to knowledge acquirement of oral health between first and third year dental hygiene students who had relatively sufficient oral health education and students majoring non-health related field who had less opportunities of oral health education, to emphasize importance and necessity of the education, and to present basic data for development of effective programs of oral health education. Methods : 2,032 dental hygiene students and students majoring non-health related field attending 12 universities in Korea had been selected as subjects and were asked to complete a self-administered survey time, frequency, and methods of toothbrushing. The SPSS 12.0 program was used for statistical analysis of the collected data, and the significance of difference by groups was tested by using chi-square test, the one-way ANOVA and independent t-test. The mean frequency of toothbrushing per day and the rate of toothbrushing before and after meal were analyzed by using of multiple comparisons through the Scheffe test as post hoc test. Results : The rate of toothbrushing after lunch was 60.2% in third year and 39.2% in first year dental hygiene students, 20.3% in students majoring non-health related field, respectively. The mean frequencies per day of dental hygiene students were 3.33 times in third year and 2.85 times in first year dental hygiene students, 2.46 times in students majoring non-health related field, respectively. The rate of toothbrushing after meal among total frequency of toothbrushing per day was 85.36% in third year and 84.81% in first year dental hygiene students, 77.90% in students majoring non-health related field, respectively. As for the methods of toothbrushing, 'Turning up and down' was 68.8% in third year and 43.1% in first year dental hygiene students, 30.6% in students majoring non-health related field, respectively. Conclusions : Oral health education through dental hygiene course may improve the oral environment management of dental hygiene students and oral health education on toothbrushing should be strengthened for the students majoring non-health related field.

  • This study investigated the influence of time to draw students' mental models and students' field dependence-independence on learning the particulate nature of matter with multiple representations. Seventh graders (N=295) at two middle schools were assigned to control, after-drawing, and before-drawing groups. The students learned "Boyle's Law" and "Charles's Law" for two class periods. Results revealed that the scores of a test on conceptual understanding for the two drawing groups were significantly higher than those for the control group. However, there was no significant interaction between the instruction and students' field dependence-independence in the scores of the test on conceptual understanding. In 'novelty' on a situational interest test, field independent students in the two drawing groups scored significantly higher than those in the control group. The scores for field independent students in each group were similar, while field dependent students in the before-drawing group scored lower than those in the control and after-drawing groups in 'attention demand' on the situational interest test. It was found that most students positively perceived after-drawing or before-drawing, but field independent students in the before-drawing group were more apprehensive about the activities than those in the after-drawing group.

  • FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastic) support insulators for DC(direct current) were developed and their electrical and mechanical characteristics were investigated. Electrical tests were carried out to measure flashover voltages under common use frequency condition. Tensile and bending tests were performed for the mechanical characteristics. The test results showed that FRP support insulators have superior voltage resistances and strengths to porcelain insulators. Field test also is carried out to measure adaptation and to compensate the defect. The test result showed that a new product has no defect in electrical and mechanical.

  • Deployable structure is a system on which the study is being actively performed in various fields including architecture field. However, There is little study which can enhance the practicality since the interpretation condition is difficult as the unstable structure in the architecture field. In this study, the Scissors system has been focused on among the Deployable structure. The structure was developed using the Scissors system and the Mock-up test was performed. Through this, the unfolding method was proposed and the practicability was surveyed through the specific design of the Test model. Also, the structure stability was reviewed through structure analysis of Mock-up test model. and stabilizing method was proposed.

  • This paper concerns the within test strength of concrete cured under different conditions. Those conditions are water curing, field curing and cores drilled from the existing structures. The test factors are not only above cured conditions but also concrete ages of 3, 7, 14 and 28 days and concrete strength of 202, 252 and 650kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The test results are as follows; (1) In spite of within test results, concrete strength is very different from curing states of concrete (2) The strength of cores drilled from existing structures are smaller than the strength of concrete cured in water by 3~4% and larger than that of concrete cured in field by 8~17% (3) Core strength is largely dependant on the curing state of top surface of concrete.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of English vocabulary learning strategies such as definition-oriented/contextoriented/situated context-oriented vocabulary learning strategy according to the cognitive styles of learners and interaction effect on the achievement test score between the learners' cognitive style and vocabulary learning strategies. The results show that there is no significant difference in the achievement test scores between field-dependent learner group and field-independent learner group. And there is significant difference in the English vocabulary achievement test scores among three experimental treatment groups, definition-oriented, context-oriented, situated context-oriented vocabulary learning strategy groups. Finally, there is an interaction effect on the achievement test score between the learners' cognitive style and vocabulary learning strategies.

  • A field test program was conducted for the newly placed concrete pavement of US Interstate Highway 10 between March 26th and 28th, 2003. The test section was located between Van Horn and Sierra Blanca in Hudspeth County approximately 130 km east of El Paso, Texas. The main objective of the test was collecting moisture-related data to validate the models of effective curing thickness, evaporation rate, and moisture-based maturity. Effect of moisture loss on drying shrinkage strain was studied using additional test instrumentation.

  • While various PCPT-based methods for the analysis of consolidation were developed, additional laboratory test is needed to estimate the coefficient of consolidation. In this paper, hyperbolic method using PCPT dissipation curve for the estimation of coefficient of consolidation was proposed. To verify proposed method, field settlement test data and PCPT dissipation test data at same site were collected and analyzed. It is observed that proposed method shows good agreement with measured field settlement data.

  • This paper introduced an artificial fault generator which was operated in the Go-Chang field-test center and explained the result of single line-to-ground fault by AFG. The AFG can basically experiment line-to-line and line-to-ground faults. This facility directly connected distribution transmission lines, so the test results are very useful for power system analysis and protection. Using the function of the AFG, we briefly said the test methods ud results for the 22.9[kV-v] and $6.6[kV-{\Delta}]$ system.

  • The durability of ballast plays an important role in track behaviour. To estimate the deterioration characteristics of ballast, several tests have been carried out by several scholars. The deterioration characteristics is very important factor in the behaviour of track and its life. In this paper, abrasion/breakage characteristics of ballast is studied to see the effect of physical ballast characteristics on ballast life. To reveal breakage characteristics of ballast, the ballast box test and the MTT field test were carried out. The breakage characteristics studied in this paper is applied to the ballast life prediction in various conditions, such as LA abrasion, annual tonnage, tamping number per year, etc
