반복하중 크리프시험에 의한 아스팔트 혼합물의 소성변형특성 평가 (Rutting Potential Evaluation of Asphalt Mixtures by Repeated-Load Creep Test)

  • Field or laboratory wheel tracking tests have been employed for the evaluation of the rutting potential of asphalt paving mixtures. Compared to field tests, laboratory wheel tracking tests are much less expensive and more manageable for most road projects. However, most test laboratories are not equipped to perform such tests because there does not exist any standard test procedure, and the required equipment is rather expensive. Futhermore, the size of test specimens and the relatively large quantity of test mixture required present difficulties for laboratory specimen mixing and compaction. This paper describes a project conducted to study the feasibility of replacing wheel tracking testsby a repeated-load creep test for rutting potential evaluation. Comparisons were made between the results of the two tests for different test temperatures, loading speeds and applied pressures. Three types of asphalt mixtures were studied in the test program. Favorable conclusions concerning the use of the repeated-load test for rutting potential evaluation were drawn based on the findings of the experimental test results. The correlation between the two types of tests was found to be good for all threeasphalt mixtures. Adopting the repeated-load creep test would lead to cost savings since it employs standard test equipment already available in most laboratories. It would also result in substantial time savings due to the much smaller quantity of mix needed, and the ease in specimen preparation.

콤팩트 안테나 테스트 레인지용 경면수정 오프셋 복반사경 시스템의 설계 (Design of Offset Dual-Shaped Reflector Systems for Compact Antenna Test Range)

  • 경면수정 오프셋 그레고리안 반사경 안테나는 고이득, 저 사이드로브 특성 때문에 위성 통신 시스템에 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 본 논문에서는 CATR(Compact Antenna Test Region)을 위한 반사경 시스템으로 설계하고 그 근접 전계 특성을 조사하였다. CATR은 시험 영역에 진폭과 위상 리플이 작고 교차 편파가 낮은 균일 평면파를 제공하여야 한다. 따라서 근접 전계를 개구면의 전력 분포, 급전 혼의 복사 패턴, 개구면과 시험 영역까지의 거리 변화에 따라 계산하여 나타냈다. 또한, 30 GHz에서 동작하는 경면수정 오프셋 복반사경을 제작하고 근접전계를 측정하였다. 그 결과, 측정치와 계산치가 비슷하게 나타났다. 이로서 본 논문에서 설계된 경면수정 오프셋 복반사경은 콤팩트 안테나 테스트 레인지로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Development and Performance Test of a l00hp HTS Motor

  • This paper describes the development and fabrication of a high temperature superconducting motor which consists of HTS rotor and air-core stator. The machine was designed for the rated power of 100hp at 1800 rpm. The HTS field windings are composed of the double-pancake coils wound with AMSC's SUS-reinforced Bi-2223 tape conductor. These were assembled on the support structure and fixed by a bandage of glass-fiber composite. The cooling system is based on the heat transfer mechanism of the thermosyphon by using GM cryocooler as cooling source. The cold head is in contact with the condenser of a Ne-filled thermosyphon. The rotor assembly was tested independently at the stationary state and combined with stator. Characteristic parameters such as reactances, inductances, and time constants were determined to obtain a consistent overview of the machine operation properties. This motor has met all design parameters by demonstrating HTS field winding, cryogenic refrigeration systems and an air-core armature winding cooled with air. The HTS field winding could be cooled down below 30K. No-load test of open-circuit characteristics(OCC) and short-circuit characteristics(SCC) and load test with resistive load bank were conducted in generator mode. Maximum operating current of field winding at 30K was 120A. From OCC and SCC test results synchronous inductance and synchronous reactance were 2.4mH, 0.49pu, respectively. Efficiency of this HTS machine was 93.3% in full load(100hp) test. This paper will present design, construction, and basic experimental test results of the 100hp HTS machine.

아스팔트 긴급보수용 스프레이 패칭 장비 개발 및 현장 적용성 평가 (Development of a Spray-Injection Patching System and a Field Performance Evaluation of 100% RAP Asphalt Mixtures using a Rapid-Setting Polymer-Modified Asphalt Emulsion)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to develop an urgent road-repair system and perform a field applicability test, as well as discover the optimum mix design for machine applications compared to the optimum mix design for lab applications. METHODS : According to reviews of the patent and developed equipment, self-propelled and mix-in-place equipment types are suitable for urgent pavement repair, e.g., potholes and cracks. The machine-application mix design was revised based on the optimum lab-test mix design, and the field application of a spray-injection system was performed on the job site. The mixture from the machine application and lab application was subjected to a wet-track abrasion test and a wheel-tracking test to calibrate the machine application. RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS : This study showed that the binder content could differ for the lab application and the machine application in the same setting. Based on the wet-track abrasion test result, the binder contents of the machine application exceeded the binder contents of the lab application by 1-1.5% on the same setting value. Moreover, the maximum dynamic stability value for the machine application showed 1% lower binder contents than the maximum lab-application value. Collectively, the results of the two different tests showed that the different sizes and operating methods of the machine and lab applications could affect the mix designs. Further studies will be performed to verify the bonding strength and monitor the field application.

친환경 유기산 재료를 활용한 지반개량 공법의 현장 적용성 평가 (The Evaluation of the Field Applicability of the Soil Improving Method Using the Environment-friendly Organic Acid Material)

  • 유기산 재료를 이용한 지반 개량은 미생물을 배양하여 지반의 고결화로 인해 친환경적으로 지반의 강도를 증대시키는 방법으로 다양한 토질 성상에 대해 유기산 재료를 혼합 후 미생물 증식으로 강도 증대효과를 규명한 바가 있으나, 현재까지 현장 적용성을 평가한 바가 없다. 본 논문에서는 유기산재료를 이용하여 지반의 미생물 증식으로 인한 지반 고결화에 대해 연구를 실시하였으며, 이를 위해 재령 56일까지 동평판재하시험, 동적콘관입시험, 들밀도시험, SEM-EDS분석을 통해 지반강도의 변화에 대해 규명하였다. 시험 결과, 유기산 재료를 첨가한 지반의 강도와 강성은 증가하는 경향을 나타냈으며, SEM-EDS로부터 탄산칼슘의 증가를 규명할 수 있었다. 향후 유기산 재료를 활용한 친환경적인 지반개량 공법의 지속적인 연구와 관심이 필요하다고 사료된다.

현장 실험을 통한 원형강관 석션관입성 검토 (Suction Penetration Review of Circular Steel Pipes by Field Test)

  • 현재 국내에서 하천/해상 교량 공사시 교량기초 설치를 위한 가시설로서 원형 단면의 가물막이(cofferdam)를 많이 적용하고 있다. 기존 케이슨(caisson), 시트파일(sheet pile), 셀(cell) 식 등의 가물막이 공법이 많이 활용되고 있으나 이러한 공법은 설치 및 해체시 많은 시간과 비용이 소요된다. 해상공사에서 가장 보편적으로 사용되고 있는 시트파일 공법의 경우 지반 관입에 의한 시트파일 손상과 요소 부재 연결 작업의 어려움으로 내적 및 외적 안정성 확보를 위해 주의가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 서해안 연약지반을 대상으로 원형강관의 석션관입성 설계를 수행하였고, 현장실험을 통하여 원형강관 석션관입 시공이 가능한 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 표준관입시험(N치) 결과보다 콘관입시험(CPTu)을 이용한 지반 분석 결과를 설계에 적용하는 것이 현장 실험 결과와 보다 유사한 결과를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 실트질 사질토 지반에서 상한석션압 이상의 석션압을 적용시 가물막이 내부의 국부적인 파괴(piping 현상)를 유발하는 것을 확인하였다.

다지형 침목 현장 성능평가에 관한 연구 (The Study on Field Performance Test of Multi Branch Type Tie(GOLRY TIE))

  • In railway, Tie supports rail and plays a role that distribute train load to the ballast. Also, Tie and ballast resist against external force and fix the track position. But, weakening resistance of ballast and tie cause vertical displacement of tie and track irregularity. For reinforcement of track stiffness and reduction of track irregularity, KORAIL has developed Multi Branch type tie(GLORY Tie) that reinforced resistance than general PCT and installed in order to test in the field. This study measured and analyzed lateral resistance of ballast, wheel load of rail, bending strain of rail foot, vertical displacement and vibration acceleration of tie in order to evaluate performance of Multi Branch type tie in the field. According to the results of test, Multi Branch tie is excellent than general tie about lateral resistance of ballast and vertical displacement of tie. And, gap of measurement value between Multi Branch type tie and general tie about wheel load of rail, bending strain of rail foot were very small.

Implementation and Field Test for Smart Hybrid Mobile Broadcasting System

  • The era of convergence is being applied to all areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The convergence of broadcasting service and communication service almost occurs on smart devices including smartphone. The smart hybrid Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is a typical example of the convergence of broadcasting and wireless communication service. The hybrid mobile broadcasting service can support seamless video, 3D, high quality, and additional data services based on network connection between the broadcasting and wireless network. The gateway and terminal (including apps on the smartphone) take the role of the main components on the hybrid service. This paper presents the service concept, main components structure, the implementation of gateway and terminals, and field test to the urban areas for the mobile hybrid system.

Impact of composite materials on performance of reinforced concrete panels

  • The use of composite materials to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) structures against blast terror has great interests from engineering experts in structural retrofitting. The composite materials used in this study are rigid polyurethane foam (RPF) and aluminum foam (ALF). The aim of this study is to use the RPF and the ALF to strengthen the RC panels under blast load. The RC panel is considered to study the RPF and the ALF as structural retrofitting. Field blast test is conducted. The finite element analysis (FEA) is also used to model the RC panel under shock wave. The RC panel performance is studied based on detonating different TNT explosive charges. There is a good agreement between the results obtained by both the field blast test and the proposed numerical model. The composite materials improve the RC panel performance under the blast wave propagation.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합 AAM 영구 앵커를 소개하고, 앵커의 설계시 인발력($P_a$)에 의해 앵커에 작용하는 힘의 관계 검토, 지압파괴에 대한 검토, 앵커사이 지반에서의 인장파괴 유발하중 검토 등을 통하여 복합 AAM 영구 앵커의 설계법을 소개하였다. 그리고 복합 AAM 영구 앵커의 거동특성을 알아보기 위하여 설계법의 의한 예측결과와 현장인발시험 결과를 비교 검토하였다.
