Ground vibration caused by blasting in the urban area close to structures can give some indirect damage to human body and may lead to structural damage to buildings. At the stage of design or when complaints were filed by residents, the test blasting in borehole, which is most practical for expressing simple vibration wave form quantitatively, is usually chosen for assessing the degree of damage to structures. In this paper, some lessons gained from the application of electronic detonator triggering system in borehole test blasting are presented. The difference in delay time of detonator when borehole is blasted by electronic detonator and electric detonator are discussed. The peak particle velocities measured at the structure embedded in the similar rock layer to main line of tunnel at test site and measured at the road surface just above the tunnel having different overburden layers were analysed to draw their relationship. By comparing the results with those appearing in some published literatures, the usefulness of the borehole test blasting and the importance of delay time of detonator are addressed.

This paper presents a case study on blasting vibration reduction in NATM(New Australian Tunnelling Method) tunnel construction carried out under a congested residential area. In NATM tunnel constructions, blasting is an essential process, thus vibration phenomenon is inevitable. Therefore, the vibration reduction was tried to avoid expected complaints from the public living in the area. Test blastings were performed to get the constants for an estimation formula of vibration velocity. Then the influence area was approximated using the estimation formula, and construction methods for the vibration reduction were sought based on the results.
Recent studies reported that natural block size of rock and joint orientation highly affect on rock fragmentation. In this study, blasting test using high strength cement mortar was carried out to verify this fact. The result of this test indicated that fragmentation is influenced by the joint interval, and at same joint interval condition, fragmentation depends on joint orientation. These results are significantly coincident with field investigations.
A method using detonating cord was suggested to control the blasting source for scaled model test. Blasting of 5 concrete block was carried out to verify the method. It was proved that blasting power can be controlled by suggested method. It seemed to be reasonable to use the reduction ratio based on the explosion heat.
Effects of blasting vibrations on curing concrete have not been well studied. As a result, unreasonable and strong blasting vibration constraints have been placed on blasting when it occur in the vicinity of curing concrete. To study the effects of blasting on curing concrete blocks of $33.3{\times}27.7{\times}16.2cm$ were molded and placed on the quarry. Several sets of concrete blocks were subjected separately to peak vibrations of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 and 10cm/sec. The impulses of blasting vibrations were applied with thirty-minute intervals. Along with unvibrated concrete blocks, the vibrated concrete samples cored with 60.3mm in diameter were measured for elastic moduli, sonic velocity and uniaxial compressive strength. Test results can be summarized as follows; 1. The blasting vibrations between 6 and 8 hours after pour generally lowered on the uniaxial compressive strength of the concrete. 2. A low blasting vibration of 0.25cm/sec did not affect the uniaxial compressive strength. As the magnitude of the blasting vibration increases, compressive strength of concrete is decreased. 3. Physical properties of the P-wave velocity, Young’s modulus, and Poisson's ratio showed a weakly decreasing trend in the concrete blocks vibrated between 6 and 8 hours after pour.
The effect of the sand blasting before TiAlN coating in the manufacture of WC hard metal alloy tips have been studied. For four different tips, according to the status of processing of the sand blasting and the coating, residual stress measurement by X-ray diffraction and several tests for mechanical properties have been conducted. The results suggest that there was no difference in static mechanical properties, such as hardness, surface roughness and elastic modulus, between two coatings. Furthermore, compressive residual stress was generated equally on their surfaces. Additionally, the compressive residual stress in substrate WC was found to increase greatly when subjected to sand blasting treatment. However, the compressive residual stress decrease after coating regardless of sand blasting treatment. Nevertheless, it is confirmed that the compressive residual stress generated in the coating after sand blasting is less than that in the non-sandblasting coating. This was attributed to the plastic deformation occurring in the WC substrate during coating after sand blasting. In contrast to the scratch test results, sand blasting was assumed to have a negative effect on the adhesion between the coating and substrate. This is because there is a high possibility of microcracks due to plastic deformation in the WC substrate under the coating after sand blasting.
On the ground foundation works for Bldg site, Rock classification test can be obtained as follows due to the International Society for Rock Mechanics. 1. In-situ test : Compressive strength, Point load test. 2. In-situ test Schmidt hammer test. Burden test finaly the convinient co-relation table between strength and 5. H, test were carried out for site-engineer, This project is one of contineous works regarding to Burden test from Jack leg drill($\phi{\;}75mm$) use.
It proceed the trial test by applying blasting system with combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator(Supex Blasting Method) for the purpose of preventing the over-break as well as controling the blasting vibration and noisy at the site of Boseong-Imseongri railroad section ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$. As a result of that, the blasting vibration and noisy was measured within the allowable standard of vibration. In conclusion, the combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator can not only reduce come construction cost, level of vibration and noisy but also get the prevention effect for Public resentment and minimize the rock-damage through over break control.
Dynamic analysis has been increased recently to analyze the effect of the blasting vibration on the rock mass as well as the surrounding structures. The major input parameter far the general dynamic analysis, however, is merely the blasting pressure which can be obtained from the blasting pressure-time history curves. But in case of the complicate geological condition it is not simple to apply the blasting pressure on the numerical analysis because e ground vibration characteristics should be obtained considering the complexity of ground condition. Therefore the authors tried to use the blasting vibration waveform as an input data This vinylation frequency could be obtained from the test blasting in the Pasir mine, Indonesia. Through the dynamic numerical analysis on the slopes in Pasir, the current situation of this slope could be simulated precisely.
