  • The advertisement call of anurans functions to attract potential mates. The dominant frequency of an advertisement call is generally getting lower with increased snout-vent length (SVL) of the caller Rana rugosa has an advertisement call tilth a particularly high frequency modulation. We conducted a playback experiment to verify the function of frequency modulation, and investigated the territorial behavior of the frog. The frog has five types of territory defense strategy. Strategy choice depended on the caller's SVL. Small males became satellites or lowered the dominant frequency of their advertisement call, whereas large males actively defended their territory with encounter calls. In response to high frequency (1107 Hz) playback, the frogs lowered their advertisement call frequency, and towered them further in response to the low frequency (1028 Hz) playback. In addition, the number of pulses in a call was increased in response to the playback. These results indicate that the frog avoids physical conflict with competitors by selecting a territory defense strategy suitable for the caller's size, and by lowering its call frequency to disguise its SVL.

  • We define a string stability heuristically and divide the board into group territory in computer Go. Elements of string stability are eye(E), eye-like(EL), special-eye(SE), extension-point(EX), liberty(L) and connection-point(CP). A string stability have 5 levels that are complete alive, alive, unsettled, danger and killed level. A group is made strings and link-points and have the territory. Territory division of a group is acquired by strings stability and link-points which are marym-mo, hankan, nalil-ja, and twokan between string and string. We compare our method with the result of evaluation of professional player. As a result, the mean error is 8.7.

  • Landfill has been a long pending issue in the Seoul Metropolitan Region since it was created. Adopting Painter's notion of "territory-effect," this paper analyzes the network formation and change of diverse actors and territory as an effect of networked relations according to four periods from the creation of the landfill to current extension of landfill use. The results are as followed. First, the network formation and composition of major actors has been changed together with historical-geographical conditions. Second, these networks created territory as an effect and re-articulated the configuration of conflicts and solidarity of diverse actors. Third, territory created as an network-effect are different in each period, and is continuously reterritorializing. These findings suggest that territory is never complete and always in the making.

  • The purpose of this research lies in providing basic data for appropriate territorial adjustment within the family by understanding the relation to family members and how 'territorial dislocations' caused by differences in personal space and behavioral domains are used and controlled as living elements. As a result, the following data could be obtained. 1. General usage conditions of living elements. When the order of usage conditions of living elements is reviewed, the living elements interspersed at the personal space and behavioral territory in public and private spaces show a high usage rate, and in the case where living elements are shared with other families, many living elements are controlled by each family. Also, for living elements with a high possibility of sharing, a high consciousness for public usage is shown rather than elements controlling the territory, and the usage rate as territory controlling living elements is not high. 2. Compared to Japan, in Korea elements that can be placed at a certain location are often used as elements that resolve 'territorial dislocation', using furniture rather than objects. On the other hand, in Japan 'territorial dislocation' is often resolved by establishing a personal territory within the living space. Lastly, compared to Japan, in Korea 'territorial dislocation' is often resolved by maintaining a personal territory spatially rather than territorially.

  • Korean Traditional Houses had been composed of several territory. Sarang-Chae was territorialized from the functional differentiation and the sexual discrimination of Confucianism. The territory of ancestral shrine was formed with the filial duty of Confucianism. Korean Traditional Houses have the visible, material boundary and invisible, symbolic boundary which is repeated into the inner space. Korean Traditional Houses are appreciated as the enclosed territory which the sacred inner space of the house is in opposition with the profane outer space, and the inner space of the house has hierarchical boundary by the hierarchy of the house god.

  • This study is on the relations between space boundary system and spatial effects. The system is consist of circulation axis & territory and vision axis & vision limit. The former is the spatial characteristic and the later is the time one. The purpose of this case study is confirm the correlation of the both and the spatial effect which is caused by space boundary system. Boundary is enable us to cognize 'territory' and intermediary of each territories. The facts that forms space boundary system are circulation axis & territory and vision axis & vision limit. The space boundary system could be categorized by congregation of these facts. and categorizing is determined with agreement degree of each couple of facts. Categorizing facts on the space boundary system are relevant to spatial effect, especially territory, directness, continuity and concentration.

  • The building site was presumed as the Howonjeokwon or the Dasiwonji established at the traffic route among western inland areas in old Pyeonghaegun. The groundwork was composed inclination terrace of two steps. The upper step was the territory of the main house of ceremony symbolic+lodging function and the down step was divided in the territory of both Ikrang-chae of boarding and lodging management function and the territory of Haengrang-chae pavilion of rest reception management. The building composition by each territory formed space differentiation with the line of flow according to the thorough rule of court rank. The arrangement composition set the strong center axis in tandem, and it was the building arrangement interpreting the territory and the rule of court rank by function as the relationship of master and servant and was the building type emphasizing on the whole unity with the geometric symmetry structure. The Dasiwonji and the Hyeeumwonji had the common point which is the traffic architecture of semi governmental management reinforcing the boarding lodging function in the place which a visitor stayed. The Haeeumwonji and Dasiwonji had the difference in the size, but was the same in the composition system of construction. The external space and the system of the line of flow decided from the functional territory separation and the hierarchical rank as thorough as the geometric arrangement focusing on the whole unity. Namely, it was the strict and unusual system of the line of flow depended on the thorough rule of court rank than the efficient approach or arrangement of the line of flow. After being established to be the Howonjeokwon at the end of Koryeo, it disappeared at the time of the invasion of Japanese pirates when it was the time of the King Woo in Koryeo. It is presumed that it was continued until both wars, Imjin Byeongja, ago after changing its name to the Dasiwon, being restored to the small size at the end of Koryeo at the early of Choseon.

  • We believe, 'Dokdo is clearly an inherent territory of Korea, in the light of geographical and historical facts', This paper aims to discuss Japanese multidimensional approach on the Issues of Dokdo(Takeshima) in the context of Territory Education. We considered the matter from various angles that supported by the ministry of Foreign affairs and the ministry of Education in national scale, as well as shimane prefecture government and municipality scale. Therefore, It is likely that the approach of territory education on Dokdo in Japan is variable and potential, and is temporary state of condensation, depends on Korea-Japan's political, economical, social, and international conditions. More studies of the new approach must be done for the new implications of Territory Education that embraces all meanings and events according to the disposition of neighbouring condition of Dokdo in world context, keeping out emotional and nationalist sympathies. The result of consideration in this paper are as follows. First, Territory Education in japan was focused on geography, history, Civil, Social Studies, compared with focusing on History in Korea. Second, It is centered on "korea is illegally occupying Dokdo, against which Japan has been consistently making strong protests" rather than simple historical approach. Thirdly, Their approaches seek to be succeeded the identity and importance of Territory Education to next generation rather than the present solving problem.

  • Feeding of the maiden goby, Pterogobius virgo and multicolorfin rainbowfish, Halichoeres poecilopterus, was studied at Kurahashi Island in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan. P. virgo foraged on only benthic invertebrates in a pit on the bottom by spot-fixed fin digging. Territory size of P. virgo was very small, because they only defended the excavated pit. H. poecilopterus frequently intruded into the feeding territory of P. virgo and fed on benthic invertebrates flushed out by the fin digging of P. virgo. Feeding activity and vigilance time of P. virgo tended to decrease significantly more in such an association than when solitary. Frequency of aggression of P. virgo when H.poecilopterus intruded into the territory was higher the intruder came from the front of the territory than when the invasion was from the side and back, regardless of the size of the intruder. In small H.poecilopterus, feeding success rate was greater from the side and back of the territory than from the front. However, similar-sized H.poecilopterus were more successful in feeding from the front and side. Feeding association provides an antipredatory benefit to P. virgo because of less alert time against predators and earlier detection of predators, although their cost is great because of territory defense and decrease of feeding activity.

  • South Korea did not take action when South Korea was in a situation of lost the diplomatic rights in 1909, despite Gando is incorporated into Chinese territory illegally by the Gando Convention between Japan and China. But it is obvious that Gando is called South Korea's territory in various cultural aspects and historical facts scattered in Gando. But China employs every means possible to make it their own territory taking up the territory projects including the China's Northeast Asian Project distorting the facts that Gando is South Korea's territory. This is the ulterior motive to make it their territory by distorting the history and culture rather than arguing right or wrong on the meaninglessly convention. We need to take action about it because we know the ulterior motive of China. To do this, it is really important to reveal the fact who is the original owner of culture scattered in Gando. As cultural sovereignty is also one of the factors that determine the territorial sovereignty, real owner of the land is a people who enjoy the culture inhabited in its territory. This paper says that master of Gando culture is ours who are the owner of a northern culture leading from old Chosen dynasty. Because our nation settles the culture in Gando since the release of modern Bonggeum area as well as ancient. In addition to knowing that we are the owner of Gando culture, the researcher proposes a methodology to respond to the China that often distorts the cultural truth. Past history can be manipulated, but culture which is embedded with human's interior mature and formed with exposures out cannot be distorted. In addition, the researcher proposes the political agenda to review whether the Chung history is really a Chinese history or not.
