Characteristic Analysis of Utilization of Security Deposit for Repairing Defects Using Statistical Analysis (통계분석을 이용한 공동주택 하자보수보증금 특성 분석)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the actual utilization rate of the deposit for defect repair of apartment complexes and its influential factors. We analyzed the data on enforced defect deposit cases by using one-sample t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and simple linear regression analysis. The difference between the deposit amount specified and the enforcement amount actually disbursed was found to about 0.51%. The change rates for short-term costs amounted approximately to $839KRW/m^2$ and 130,000 KRW/household per year, and those for long-term costs were $647KRW/m^2$ and 123,207 KRW/household per year. The results warrant the need for further research on establishing a deposit amount based on actual statistical data.

A Comparative Analysis of Ensemble Learning-Based Classification Models for Explainable Term Deposit Subscription Forecasting (설명 가능한 정기예금 가입 여부 예측을 위한 앙상블 학습 기반 분류 모델들의 비교 분석)

  • Predicting term deposit subscriptions is one of representative financial marketing in banks, and banks can build a prediction model using various customer information. In order to improve the classification accuracy for term deposit subscriptions, many studies have been conducted based on machine learning techniques. However, even if these models can achieve satisfactory performance, utilizing them is not an easy task in the industry when their decision-making process is not adequately explained. To address this issue, this paper proposes an explainable scheme for term deposit subscription forecasting. For this, we first construct several classification models using decision tree-based ensemble learning methods, which yield excellent performance in tabular data, such as random forest, gradient boosting machine (GBM), extreme gradient boosting (XGB), and light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM). We then analyze their classification performance in depth through 10-fold cross-validation. After that, we provide the rationale for interpreting the influence of customer information and the decision-making process by applying Shapley additive explanation (SHAP), an explainable artificial intelligence technique, to the best classification model. To verify the practicality and validity of our scheme, experiments were conducted with the bank marketing dataset provided by Kaggle; we applied the SHAP to the GBM and LightGBM models, respectively, according to different dataset configurations and then performed their analysis and visualization for explainable term deposit subscriptions.

  • In digital environment the hallmark of the national libraries is its responsibility or function of acquiring and preserving the county´s off-line and on-line publications in term of legal deposit. But the legal deposit system based on print materials in Korea predates the digital age and requires a new legal framework. It would be a tragedy if national library was not to archive the nation´s intellectual and cultural heritage because of limitation of legal deposit system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze form of the current deposit system and to suggest a reform model for legal deposit legislation with priority given to legal scheme and elements(terms, the depositor, the depository, object of deposit, number of copies, time of deposit, compensation and fine, right of migration and free access, etc.).

The Effects of Loss Aversion and Construal Level on the Attitude toward Financial Products (투자자의 손실회피 성향과 해석수준이 금융상품 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Financial products entail either gains or losses, and customers' psychological reaction to these gains and losses affect the selection of the financial products. This study explains the financial customers' behavior by introducing consumers' psychological variables such as loss aversion and construal levels. According to the construal level theory, people use more abstract and higher levels of construal to represent objects that are more distant on psychological distance. Based on extant research about loss aversion and construal levels, this study proposes two hypotheses and test the hypotheses. The experimental study examines how loss aversion affects the choice between deposit products and fund products in short-term and long-term investment situations. In the long-term condition the respondents prefer fund products to deposit products, whereas in the short-term condition the respondents have showed the opposite result. Also, the effects of loss aversion on preferences for financial products have interacted with the time horizon of investments. Implications and limitations are discussed to establish more effective marketing strategies based on the results of this study.

A Study on Alternative Fuel as Fuel Substitutes in a DI Diesel Engine(II) (Startability and Durability) (디젤기관의 대체연료 이용에 관한 연구(II) (시동성 및 내구성 문제))

  • In a previous report, the properties of vegetable oils as diesel fuel substitutes were investigated and the basic load performance of a diesel engine was examined using vegetable oil. The results show that despite of the long term chain hydrocarbon structure and large droplet size due to high viscosity, vegetable oils have good basic performance and exhaust emissions, however they cause serious problems as carbon deposit buildup, they have poor durability, and also poor thermal efficiency. In this paper, the startability and engine durability with long term operation was tested by physical methods for reducing viscosity when vegetable oil was used as compared against diesel fuel. The results obtained in this investigation may be stated as follows; (1) There is no problem in startability when vegetable oil was used as diesel fuel substitutes as far as fuel temperature is higher than 30.deg. C (2) The carbon deposits were most extensive at lower loads and lower engine speeds, and deposit buildup more heavily on the cooler parts of the combustion chamber wall. (3) Blends with 25% diesel fuel and 20v-% ethanol are effective in reducing the carbon deposit buildups. (4) Significant improvement in carbon deposit and piston ring stick can be obtained by heating fuel(200.deg.).

Legal Deposit in the Sultanate of Oman: The Law of Printing and Publishing and its Role in Building Oman's Culture of Democracy

  • Omani citizens participate in building the culture of democracy through the implementation of the legal deposit or the Law of Printing and Publishing. Legal deposit is the law that requires individuals and agencies who are responsible for printing and applying the law in Oman, whether they are publishers, printing houses or authors, to submit certain copies of their work or publications to a repository, usually a library. The present study aims to explore the reality of the Omani Law of Printing and Publishing and discover how the law defines the term "publications". In addition to the role of this law in building the Omani culture of democracy, the study uses an interpretive research paradigm of applied unstructured interviews and content analysis. Twenty-four printing houses were interviewed. The findings determined that definition of the term "publications", according to the law, is very general and covers different items, and the Law of Printing and Publishing plays an essential role in the building of Oman's culture of democracy. The study also found that all of the printing houses interviewed participated in creating the Omani culture by depositing the requested copies of their publications, although four of them had negative beliefs about the law of "Printing and Publishing". In addition, the study found (19=79.1%) of the sample interpreted the term "culture of democracy" in a positive way.

  • In this study, the reservoir sediment reduction methods for long-term operation are proposed by the analysis of both sediment deposit characteristics and sediment reduction effect by each method. To that end, a flowchart for sediment analysis in reservoir is established and sediment deposit is simulated by SMS-SED2D model. The sediment reduction methods which are sediment passing (sluicing), flushing, trapping, bypassing and mechanical removal are used. From the simulation results, the effective method for sediment reduction is operation which is coupled by both sediment passing with sand gate and sediment trapping with debris dam. And If sediment flushing will be used once a year after 50 years, conservation storage can be secured until 100 years after dam construction.

  • Predicted behaviour of a soft clay deposit in design stage is sometimes different from in-situ settlement and pore pressure measured during and after construction. In this paper, characteristics of settlement and pore pressure occurred in soft soil deposits were investigated briefly in order to get a better understanding of time-dependent viscoplastic behaviour and prevent geotechnical problems resulted from long-term settlement, differential settlement, etc.

The Effect of Nitrogen Supply on Tomato Plants by NH4-Beaker-Deposits (토마토에 대한 NH4-Beaker Deposit 비료의 질소공급 효과)

  • Long term cultivation crops like tomato, capsicum, melon etc. demand much amount of continuous supplying of nutrition during the whole growing periods. It is not easy to cover satisfactorily the nutritional demands for them by splitted top dressings, slow release fertilizer applications and fertigation systems. To overcome these problems, the "CULTAN" (Controlled Uptake Long Term Ammonium Nutrition) Beaker Deposit techniques have been developed and it was put into PVC beaker with the combined nitrogen fertilizer type mixed with the ratio of one-third of ammonium sulfate-N and two-thirds of urea-N, in which nitrogen was loaded on the demanding amount of a tomato plant during the growing period. Gypsum was mixed as a binder, and loamy soil and compost were used as a diffusion regulator. It was placed upside down into root zone of tomato at the transplanting. Tomato roots were spreaded into the Deposit beaker by ammonium ions which attract root growth. The tomato fruit yield and nitrogen uptake by plant were increased by application of $NH_4$-Beaker deposit fertilizer rather than those of common fertilizer treatment. In conclusion, it was able to improve economic and ecological benefits through CULTAN system compared with common fertilization systems. CULTAN system was estimated as a prospective alternative to enhance productivity and minimize nutrient lose. In addition, it shows further developing possibility of CULTAN system by the supplement of micro-nutrients and pesticides in the macro-nutrient beaker deposits.

  • This study examined a case of collapse and reinforcement of the colluvial deposit slope in Kyeongnam Geoje Area. The reason for the collapse was found first in the reduction of the resistant force due to slope-cut for constructing retaining walls. This decreased the resistant force against sliding, which enabled precipitation during the rainy period to seep into the ground in the upper colluvium, resulting in increase in porewater pressure. This leads to decreased shear strength and increased sliding force, which ultimately caused the collapse of the slope. For the long-term stability, methods attained for stability reinforcement are summarized in the following table.
