  • In this study, oxidized graphene nanoplatelet(GO) was prepared by oxidizing graphene nanoplatelet(GNP) with nitric acid in order to solve the problem of dispersion of GNP, one of nano materials. The surface chemical composition of the prepared GO was analyzed by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) before incorporation into the epoxy paint, and the dispersibility in the solvent was confirmed. Meanwhile, GNP/Epoxy and GO/Epoxy paint were prepared by mixing GNP, GO with 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0wt.% in epoxy paint and the mechanical properties were evaluated. As a result, GNP/Epoxy and GO/Epoxy paints showed better mechanical properties than Neat Epoxy which did not incorporate GNP, GO. Especially, when 0.3wt.% of GO was incorporated into epoxy resin, it showed higher tensile strength than Neat Epoxy. It was confirmed that acid treatment of GNP was effective in improving the mechanical properties of epoxy paint.

  • Steel fiber is high stiffness and large weight. So, Pumping hose to rupture of the safety management is difficult. Steel fiber caused by corrosion of the deterioration of durability and high-rebound losses are needed for the improvements. Thus, the revised regulations in 2009 by a steel fiber to reinforce other materials is possible. Variety of fiber reinforcement material for concrete review of applicability is needed. Steel fiber strength than the other fibers is large and by the geometry of the fibers are attached to improve performance. However, compared to steel fiber organic fibers and low modulus of elasticity and tensile strength of fiber and agglomeration occurs in the concrete to be used as reinforcement material is difficult. In this regard, the present study as a single object in the micro-fiber bouquet sharp entanglement through make muck attach surface area, distributed fibers from surfactant of the surface enhanced polyamide fibers, steel fiber and PP fiber reinforced concrete by comparing the scene to provide a basis for the use.

  • Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is a typical plastic composite which is fabricated using fiber reinforcement with resin to represent the high strength properties. The mechanical properties of FRP should be determined by a fibrous material, and the studies about the role of fiber as a reinforcement has been an interested subject, whereas a study along the effect of filler is not so big. However, the filler effect must be considered on the properties of the composite, because the filler influence on the plastic or resin compound which reacts as a matrix material of the composite. Thus, in this work, we studied the filler effect with size and content using $3-6{\mu}m$ of ground calcium carbonate. The specimen was prepared by sheet molding compound (SMC) method, and the mechanical properties were compared with bending strength and tensile strength. As a result, it was confirmed that the size and contents of calcium carbonate affected the strength of composites, and the condition of $2.8{\mu}m$ which was the smallest size condition showed the highest strength.

  • In this paper, we have studied the mechanical properties of thermoplastic carbon fiber fabric composites with spread technology and compression molding temperature were investigated. Carbon fiber reinforcement composites were fabricated using commercial carbon fiber fabrics and spread carbon fiber fabrics. Mechanical properties of the commercial carbon fiber composites (CCFC) and spread carbon fiber composites (SCFC) according to compression molding temperatures were investigated. Thermal properties of the polypropylene film were examined by rheometer, differential scanning calorimetry, thermal gravimetric analysis. Tensile, flexural and Inter-laminar shear test. Commercial carbon fiber reinforcement composites and spread carbon fiber composites were fabricated at 200~240℃ above the melting temperature of the polypropylene film. Impregnation properties according to compression molding temperature of the polypropylene film were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. As a result, as the compression molding temperature was increased, the viscosity of the polypropylene film was decreased. The mechanical properties of the compression molding temperature of 230℃ spread carbon fiber composite was superior.

  • When a complex load such as torsion, low-speed impact, or fatigue load is applied, the properties in the thickness direction are weakened through microcracks inside the material due to the nature of the laminated composite material, and delamination occurs. To prevent the interlaminar delamination, various three-dimensional reinforcement methods such as Z-pinning and stitching, and structural health monitoring techniques that detect the microcrack of structures in real time have been continuously studied. In this paper, the single-lap joints with I-fiber stitching process were manufactured by a co-curing method and their strengths and failure detection capability were evaluated. AE and electric resistance method were used for detection of crack and failure signal and electric circuit for signal analysis was manufactured, and failure signal was analyzed during the tensile test of a single-lap joint. From the experiment, the strength of the single lap joint reinforced by I-fiber stitching process was improved by about 44.6% compared to the co-cured single lap joint without reinforcement. In addition, as the single-lap joint reinforced by I-fiber stitching process can detect failure in both the electrical resistance method and the AE method, it has been proven to be an effective structure for failure monitoring as well as strength improvement.

  • FRP has been proposed to replace the steel as a reinforcement in the concrete structures for addressing the corrosion issue. However, FRP-Rebar does not behave in the same manner as steel because the properties of FRP are different. For example, FRP-Rebar has a high tensile strength, low stiffness, and linear elastic behavior which results in a difference bonding mechanism to transfer the load between the reinforcement and the surrounding concrete. Therefore, bonding behavior between FRP-Rebar and concrete has to be investigated using the bonding test. So, Pull-out test has been used to estimate bond behavior because it is simple. However, the results of pull-out test have a difference with flexural-boding behavior of FRP-Rebar concrete member. So, it is needed to evaluate the real fleuxral-bonding behavior. In this study, the evaluation method to flexural-bonding behavior of FRP-Rebar concrete member was reviewed and compared. It was found that the most accurate evaluation method for the fleuxral-bonding behavior of FRP-Rebar concrete member was splice beam test, however, the size and length of specimen have to increase than other test method and the design and analysis of splice beam is complex. Meanwhile, characteristics of concrete could be reflected by using arched beam test, unlike hinged beam test which is based on the ignored change of moment arm length in equilibrium equation. However, the possibility of shear failure exists before the flexural-bonding failure occur.

  • In Korea, the mountainous area occupies more than 70% of the whole country, cutting of earth slope that cuts a part of the ground surface is widely used when building infrastructures such as road, railroad, and industrial complex construction. In recent years, regulations on environmental damage have become more strict, and various methods have been developed and applied. Among them, Concrete-Panel Retaining Wall technique is actively applied. Concrete-Panel Retaining Wall is a method to resist horizontal earth pressure by forming a wall by attaching a precast retaining wall to the front of the support material and increasing the shear strength of the disk through reinforcement of the support material. Soil nailing, earth bolt, and ground anchor are used as support material. Among them, ground anchor is a more aggressive reinforcement type that introduces tensile load in advance to the steel wire, and a large concentrated load acts on the front panel. This concentrated load is a factor that creates cracks in the concrete panel and reduces the durability of the retaining wall itself. In this study, steel pipe sleeves and reinforcements were purchased at the anchorage of the panel to prevent cracks, and by applying bumpy shear keys to the end of the panel, the weakness of the individual behavior of the existing grout anchors was improved. The problem of degraded landscape by exposure to front concrete of retaining wall and protrusion of anchorage was solved by the production of natural stone patterns and the construction of sections that do not protrude the anchorage. In order to verify the effectiveness of anti-crack sleeves and reinforcements used in the null, indoor testing and three-dimensional numerical analysis have been performed, and the use of steel pipe sleeves and reinforcements has demonstrated the overall strength increase and crack suppression effect of panels.

  • The postbeam joint connection of the existing steel structure moment flexible frame system did not produce sufficient seismic resistance during the earthquakes in Northridge and Kobe, and it sustained brittle fracturing on the joint connection. This study was performed to execute the high-tensile bolt share connection of H-beams web and the full-scale experiment as a parameter of the existing reinforcement of H-flange rib, by making the shape of the existing joint connection. This experiment was performed to determine the extent of the decrease of the number of high-tensile bolts and how to improve workability of the two-phase shear connection of web beam. In addition, this study was performed to enhance the seismic resistant capacity through the enforcement of rib plates. As a result of the experiment of two-phase shear connection of H-beam web and of joint connection to be reinforced by rib plates, the results of this study showed that the initial stiffness, energy-dissipation capacity, and rotational capacity of plasticity was higher than the existing joint connection. As to the rate of increasing the strength and deformation capacity, there were differences between the tension side and compression side because of the position of shear tap. However, as a whole, they have shown excellent seismic resistant capacity. Also, all the test subjects exceeded 4% (rate of delamination), about 0.029 rad (total plastic capacity), and about 130% (maximum strength of joint connection) of fully plastic moment for the original section. Accordingly, this study was considered as it would be available in the design more than the intermediate-level of moment flexible frame.

  • To construct an ideal geosynthetic reinforced soil retaining wall (GRS-RW), the facing of the wall should be flexible enough to accommodate a large deformation of the supporting ground and to develop the large tensile force in reinforcements during wall construction as long as the stability is ensured, but should be rigid enough to be stiff and stable as well as durable and aesthetically acceptable for a long life time when the wall is in service. Facing conditions during the construction and service of the wall are quite different. So it is difficult to be satisfied all these conditions with the current construction method which is mainly used in reinforced wall construction in Korea. Most of this contradiction could be solved by the staged construction procedure. According to the results of cases and references analyses, stage construction procedures make it possible to accommodate large deformation of the supporting ground and backfill without losing the stability of the wall, and to derive the tensile strength of reinforcement causing deformation of the facing. When the facing is a full-height rigid one, it also appeared almost impossible to occur a local shear failure of the active zone, and pull-out failure of reinforcements. Therefore, GRS-RWs having a full-height rigid facing have been constructed by the staged construction procedures that matched well with the theory of reinforced soil, which had outstanding stability and durability, and thus could be used for railways and bridge abutments in Korea in the future.

  • Shrinkage strains of concrete slab in multi-story building are restrained by structural members such as columns or walls, then can induce cracks due to excessive shrinkage stress over tensile strength of member. In this study, a shrinkage stress analysis method of concrete slab in multi-story building considering not only material properties such as shrinkage, creep and reinforcement effect but also construction sequence is proposed. Tensile stresses of slab due to shrinkage are calculated by converting shrinkage strains into equivalent temperature gradients, creep that can release shrinkage stress can be considered by replacing the modulus of elasticity of concrete, Ec , to the effective secant modulus of elasticity of concrete, E$\_$eff/ Reinforcements are also considered by modeling them as equivalent beam elements in FEM program. Results of step by step analysis reflecting construction sequence summed up to calculate stresses of the whole building considering that shrinkage stresses of the building come from the difference of shrinkage between i-th floor and (i-1)-th floor, named as effecitive shrinkage, and it can be varied by construction sequence. The results of 10-story example building show that shrinkage stresses of lower floors are greater than those of upper floors, that is, stresses of lower floors(1∼2FI.) exceed modulus of rupture of concrete, but stress ratios of higher floors are in the range of 27.9∼92.8%.
