  • This paper deals with modeling method and application of Fuzzy Discrete Event System(FDES). FDES have characteristics which Crisp Discrete Event System(CDES) can't deals with and is constituted with the events that is determined by vague and uncertain judgement like biomedical or traffic control. We proposed Real-time Fuzzy Temporal Logic Framework(RFTLF) to model Fuzzy Discrete Event System. It combines Temporal Logic Framework with Fuzzy Theory. We represented the model of traffic signal systems for intersection to have the property of Fuzzy Discrete Event System with Real-time Fuzzy Temporal Logic Framework and designed a traffic signal controller for smooth traffic flow. Moreover, we proposed the method to find the minimum-time route to reach the desired destination with information obtained in each intersection. In order to evaluate the performance of Real-time Fuzzy Temporal Logic Framework model proposed in this paper, we simulated unit-time extension traffic signal controller model of the latest signal control method on the same condition.

  • Some context is characterized by a single event in computing environment, but many other contexts are determined by a lot of things which occur with a space and a time. The Realtime Embedded System context-awareness service that interacts with the physical space can have property such as time. The exceptional behaviors of the system that interact with physical space can result in critical damage and cause danger to the operation of an embedded system. we propose an approach which should include spatio-temporal property and exceptional management in the context model, and verify its effectiveness using an expanded Petri-Net. The context-awareness service modeling of an embedded system is discussed the properties of model such as basic Petri-Net, patterned Petri-Net, or Spatio-temporal Petri-Net for the exceptional behaviors of the system. The proposed methodology demonstrated using an example that is emergency medical service. The use of expanded Petri-Net will contribute not only to develop the application but also to model the spatio-temporal context awareness for the exceptional handling.

  • In this paper, we propose a new metric called "dynamic gamma" to quantitatively evaluate the dynamic temporal response of an LC display device. The widely-used response time and corresponding 3-D bar graphs cannot fully describe the dynamic characteristics of an LC panel [1], and using response time to compare different LC panels and assessing the dynamic features of LC panels is difficult. On the other hand, the new metric MPRT mixes an LC panel's slow temporal response with its hold-type display effect. The proposed new metric, dynamic gamma, and corresponding 2-D plots, are arguably more suitable for quantitatively characterizing the dynamic characteristics of an LC panel, so comparing two LC panels becomes easy. Furthermore, dynamic gamma has the unique property that it can be used to quantify the limitations/capabilities and to assess the effectiveness of an overdrive mechanism for a particular LCD. In the paper, two LC panels using different technology are analyzed and compared using this new metric.

  • A number of temporal abstraction approaches have been suggested so far to handle the high computational complexity of Markov decision problems (MDPs). Although the structure of temporal abstraction can significantly affect the efficiency of solving the MDP, to our knowledge none of current temporal abstraction approaches explicitly consider the relationship between topology and efficiency. In this paper, we first show that a topological measurement from complex network literature, mean geodesic distance, can reflect the efficiency of solving MDP. Based on this, we build an incremental method to systematically build temporal abstractions using a network model that guarantees a small mean geodesic distance. We test our algorithm on a realistic 3D game environment, and experimental results show that our model has subpolynomial growth of mean geodesic distance according to problem size, which enables efficient solving of resulting MDP.

  • Moving objects have been widely employed in traffic and logistic applications. Spatio-temporal aggregations mainly describe the moving object's behavior in the spatial data warehouse. The previous works usually express the object moving in some certain region, but ignore the object often moving along as the trajectory. Other researches focus on aggregation and comparison of trajectories. They divide the spatial region into units which records how many times the trajectories passed in the unit time. It not only makes the storage space quite ineffective, but also can not maintain spatial data property. In this paper, a spatio-temporal aggregation index structure for moving object trajectory in constrained network is proposed. An extended B-tree node contains the information of timestamp and the aggregation values of trajectories with two directions. The network is divided into segments and then the spatial index structure is constructed. There are the leaf node and the non leaf node. The leaf node contains the aggregation values of moving object's trajectory and the pointer to the extended B-tree. And the non leaf node contains the MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangle), MSAV(Max Segment Aggregation Value) and its segment ID. The proposed technique overcomes previous problems efficiently and makes it practicable finding moving object trajectory in the time interval. It improves the shortcoming of R-tree, and makes some improvement to the spatio-temporal data in query processing and storage.

  • Data mining is a technique that explores knowledge such as relationships and patterns between data by exploring and analyzing data. Data that occurs in the real world includes a temporal attribute. Temporal data mining research to find useful knowledge from data with temporal properties can be effectively utilized for predictive judgment that can predict the future. In this paper, we propose an algorithm using time-unit grouping to classify the database into regular time period units and discover frequent pattern itemsets in time units. The proposed algorithm organizes the transaction and items included in the time unit into a matrix, and discovers frequent items in the time unit through grouping. In the experimental results for the performance evaluation, it was found that the execution time was 1.2 times that of the existing algorithm, but more than twice the frequent pattern itemsets were discovered.

  • In this paper, we extended hierarchial structure of managed object class to support Role-Based Access Control, and described constraint conditions that have support dynamic temporal function as well as statical temporal function established by management process. And we defined about violation notifications should report to manager when rules violate constraint conditions. Also we presented system architecture that support RBAC with MIB(Management Information Base) of ITU-T recommendation. By access control enforcement and decision function, constraint conditions and activated translation procedure of each roles are described, our system presents dynamic temporal property systematically.

  • This paper is on the analysis for the real-time software requirement. This method can be used for TNPN(Timed Numerical Peri Net) as a easy communication means with real-users. It is based on the RTTL(Real Time Temporal Logic) for correctness the system. TNPN is used to represent a behavior specification language, the validity of specified behaviors in TNPN is expressed in RTTL, and analyzed through the teachability graph. Thus, the requirement between user and system is satisfied Using the example of shared track, the validity of the property of real-time(safetiness, responsiveness, liveness, priority) is verified. Also this framework if given to connection with a object, natually.

  • As an era of nano science approaches, the understanding on the shape and optical properties of various materials in a nanoscale range is getting important more seriously than ever. Accordingly the development of high spatial-temporal-spectral resolution measurement tools for characterization of nanomaterials/structures is highly required. Generally, the various properties of sample can be measured independently, e.g. to observe the structural property of sample, we use the scanning electron microscopy or atomic force microscopy, and to observe optical property, we have to use another independent measurement tool such as photoluminescence spectroscopy or Raman spectroscopy. In the case of nano-materials, however, it is very difficult to find out the same position of sample at every different measurement processes, and the condition of sample can be changed by the influence of first measurement. The tip enhanced Raman scattering(TERS), which can simultaneously measure the two or more information of sample with nanoscale spatial resolution, is one of solutions of this problem. In this talk, I will present our recent nano Raman scattering data of graphene that measured by TERS and optimized tip fabrication method for efficient experiment.

  • As increasing interest for soot emission. etc in combustion systems, various studies are being carried out for the reduction and measurement techniques of soot. Especially, laser induced incandescence is the useful measurement technique which has distinguished spatial and temporal resolution for primary particle size, volume fraction and aggregated particle size etc. Time resolved laser induced incandescence is the technique for measuring primary particle size that is decided to solve the signal decay rate which is related to the cooling behavior of heated particle by pulsed laser. The cooling behavior of heated particle is able to represent the heat and mass transfer model which are involved constants of soot property for surround gas temperature on the our previous work. In this study, it is applied to the time-dependence thermodynamic properties for soot temperature instead of constants of soot property for surround gas temperature and compared two different model results.
