  • This study investigated the effects of certain specific wavelengths of lighting on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) using the heart rate variability (HRV) as an index. Six subjects with normal color vision participated n this study between 15:00 and 17:00 hr to neutralize any visual differences arising from circadian rhythm. The environmental conditions of the laboratory were maintained in complete darkness and the temperature was equilibrated at 24$\Box$ with a relative humidity of 60%. Subjects were only subjected to light stimulation when the pupil of dyes attained a minimum size of 2 mm by projecting illumination equalized with the same spectral radiance of 500-700 nm with 50-nm internal radiance. HRV was calculated from electrocardiogram (ECG) with systematic respiratory control at 0.35 Hz. The results suggest that illumination with certain wavelengths may induce ANS activation.

  • This paper is presented the method peak load forecast based on multiple regression Model. Forecasting model was composed with the temperature-humidity and the discomfort index. Also the week periodicity was excluded from weekday change coefficient of two types. Forecasting result was good with about 3[%]. And, utility of presented forecast model using statistical tests has been proved. Therefore, This results establish appropriateness and fitness of forecast models using peak power demand forecasting.

전동차 객실의 실내공기질 평가 - $CO_2$ 농도와 승객 수 (Assessment of Indoor Air Quality of Subway - $CO_2$ Concentrations and Number of Passengers)

  • With increasing concerns of indoor air quality, $CO_2$ concentration in the public transportation, such as train, bus, and subway, draws big interests. The $CO_2$ concentration in the indoor air is regarded as index of ventilation status rather than that of adverse health effect. In this study, we measured the time-series of $CO_2$ concentrations in the subway saloon at the Subway line 1 (Suwon-station to Cheongyangri-station) with the number of passengers on board. At the same time, the concentration of particulate matter (PM), temperature, and humidity were monitored. It was found that the $CO_2$ concentration was correlated linearly with number of passengers and the relation function is suggested for the prediction of $CO_2$ conecntration by the number of passengers.

조도 변화에 따른 뇌파 기반 생체신호 변화에 관한 연구 (The Study about Variation of Physiology Signal based on EEG due to Variation of Illumination)

  • By using EEG and HRV, subjects were estimated on their psychological and physiological reaction when reading psychrometric chart in 7 point century font, in an environmental test room in the condition of temperature 25[$^{\circ}C$], relative humidity 50[RH%], air current speed 0.02[m/sec], giving variation in illuminance to 0.1, 300, 600, 1000, 1300 and 1600[lux]. As a result, it was at 1300[lux] that absolute ${\alpha}$ wave, SMR, SDNN were most vitalized, and also both sides ${\alpha}$ wave asymmetry index, SEF50, HRT, stress and fatigue degree were at the lowest. It was found that a certain illuminance which minimizes psychological stress and fatigue degree while enhancing concentration and task achievement stably does exist.

Effects of Roughage Neutral Detergent Fiber on Dairy Performance under Tropical Conditions

  • $Holstein\;{\times}\;indigenous$ multiparous dairy cows were offered diets with increasing roughage neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents to determine the effects on intake, milk yield and compositions. Roughage NDF contents were 15, 18, 21 and 24% dry matter (DM), and concentrate NDF content was 10% DM. Experimental treatments were isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets. Maximum and minimum temperature humidity index during the experimental period were 85.9 and 76, respectively. Intakes of DM, crude protein and net energy, 4% fat corrected milk, milk protein and average daily gain decreased with increasing roughage NDF contents (p<0.05). Intakes of ether extract (p<0.01) and dietary NDF (p>0.05) and milk fat (p<0.01) increased with increasing roughage NDF contents. The results support the conclusion that higher DM intake, optimal milk yield and compositions can be maintained with lower roughage NDF diets for dairy cows under tropical conditions.

철도 승차감 평가방법의 상호관계 분석 (Analysis of Correlation with Evaluation Methods of Ride Comfort for the Railway)

  • The ride comfort is one of the important dynamic performances of railway vehicle and is affected by the various factors, such as vibration, sound, temperature, humidity, etc. In general, vibration is known to be a major effect of rode comfort. There are many studies on the evaluation methods of ride comfort in the railway vehicle vibration. Each of the evaluation methods suggested by Spelling and in the standards recommends a different evaluation method and guidance. So users must review whether they can apply it to their railway system or not. In this study, we have suggested the relationship between several evaluation methods using the statistical vibration model based on the experimental data.

KTX 객실의 $CO_2$ 농도와 승객 수 및 터널구간과의 상관관계 (Correlation of $CO_2$ Concentration with Number of Passengers and Tunnel Regions in the KTX Cabin)

  • With increasing concerns of indoor air quality, $CO_2$ concentration in the public transportation, such as train, bus, and subway, draws big interests. The $CO_2$ concentration in the indoor air is regarded as index of ventilation status rather than that of adverse health effect. In this study, we measured the time-series of $CO_2$ concentrations in the KTX cabin during the journey of Gyongbu-line (Seoul-Busan) and Honam-line (Seoul-Mokpo) with the number of passengers on board. At the same time, the concentration of particulate matter (PM), temperature, humidity and gaseous pollutants including HCHO and VOCs were monitored. It is found that the $CO_2$ concentration was correlated linearly with number of passengers and was highly correlated with tunnel regions where the ventilation unit (flap) was closed.

Effects of Short-term Acute Heat Stress on Physiological Responses and Heat Shock Proteins of Hanwoo Steer (Korean Cattle)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of heat stress on the status of physiological responses, blood parameter, serum T3 and cortisol, and heat shock proteins (HSP 27, 70, and 90) of Hanwoo cattle. Six Hanwoo steers (242.8 ± 7.2 kg of BW) were housed in the climate-controlled respiration chambers. The experiment consisted of 7 days (control; 0 day) at thermoneutral (air temperature (Ta) of 15℃ and relative humidity (RH) of 60%; temperature-humidity index (THI) = 64), and by 3 and 6 days (treatment groups) at heat stress (Ta of 35℃ and RH of 60%; THI = 87). Body temperature of each parts (frank, rump, perineum and foot) and rectal temperature elevated in heat stress groups (3 days and 6 days) than the control group (0 day). Respiration rates increased in 3 days and 6 days (88.5 ± 0.96 bpm and 86.3 ± 0.63 bpm, respectively) from 0 days (39.5 ± 0.65 bpm). Feed intake significantly decreased in heat stress groups (3 days and 6 days, 3.7 ± 0.14 kg and 4.0 ± 0.15 kg, respectively) than the control group (0 day, 5.0 ± 0.00 kg). In addition, final BW significantly decreased in heat stress groups (3 days and 6 days, 211.8 ± 4.75 kg and 215.5 ± 3.50 kg, respectively) than the control group (0 day, 240.0 ± 25.00 kg). However, heat stress has no significant effect on blood parameter, serum T3 and cortisol. Nevertheless, heat stress increased HSPs mRNA expression in liver tissue, and serum concentration of HSPs. Despite Hanwoo cattle may have high adaptive ability to heat stress, our results suggested that heat stress directly effect on body temperature and respiration rate as well as serum and tissue HSPs. Therefore, we are recommended that HSPs could be the most appropriate indicators of Hanwoo cattle response to heat stress.

고온건강경보시스템 기준 설정에 관한 연구 ( II ) - 설정 기준 개선 - (Study on the Establishment of Threshold Criteria for Heat Health Watch Warning System in Korea; Part II: Improvement of Criteria)

  • The current standard level of Heat Health Watch Warning System consider both daily maximum temperature and daily maximum heat index(HI), but current standard could not consider daily maximum HI due to the difficulties in forecasting when we consider both daily maximum temperature and daily maximum HI and no considering HI because relative humidity could not observed for some regions. So, Newly established standard level of Heat Health Watch Warning System is based on daily maximum temperature exceeding $30^{\circ}C$ for two consecutive days or daily minimum temperature exceeding $25^{\circ}C$ and daily maximum temperature exceeding $30^{\circ}C$. These days are called "extreme heat days". On extreme heat days, the standard of extreme heat advisory is based on daily maximum temperature among exceeding $32.7^{\circ}C$ and not exceeding $34.8^{\circ}C$, and extreme heat warning is based on daily maximum temperature exceeding $34.8^{\circ}C$. ANOVA analysis was carried out using the data of Seoul Metropolitan City in 1994 to check the robustness of the new standard level of Heat Health Watch Warning System from this study, in particular for mortality variable. The results reveal that the new standard specifies excess mortality well, showing significance level of 0.05 in the difference of excess mortality for each phase.

지능형 알고리즘 기반 RGBW Dimming control LED 감성조명 시스템 개발 (Development of RGBW Dimming Control Sensitivity Lighting System based on the Intelligence Algorithm)

  • 본 연구는 감성 공학과 인공 지능 알고리즘의 하나인 퍼지 추론을 이용하여 LED 색온도 제어시스템의 체계적인 제어를 위한 퍼지 추론 기반 LED 감성 조명 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 감성공학 영역에서 하나의 형용사 언어로 표현되는 감성과 색상과의 관계를 고려하여 감성언어를 결정하고, 인간의 뇌에서 나오는 뇌파의 파장과 색온도와의 관계를 고려하여 수업과목의 종류를 결정한다. 결정된 감성언어와 수업과목의 종류를 이용하여 RGB LED의 색온도를 조정한다. 더불어 GPS(Global Positioning System)로 위도와 경도의 정보를 이용하여 실시간으로 태양의 고도를 산출하고, 온도 및 습도센서의 정보를 이용하여 불쾌지수를 산출한다. 결과로 나온 태양의 고도와 불쾌지수의 변화에 따라 LED 조명시스템의 White LED의 조도와 RGBLED의 색온도를 조정한다. 개발된 LED 감성조명 시스템은 상황에 알맞은 분위기를 연출함으로써 학습능력과 업무능력의 효율 향상 등을 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이다.
