Sinterability and Microwave Dielectric Properties of xZnWO4-(1-x)TiO2 Ceramics Sintered at Low Temperature (저온 소결용 xZnWO4-(1-x)TiO2 세라믹스의 소결 및 마이크로파 유전 특성)

  • Sinterability and microwave dielectric properties of $xZWO_{4}-(1-x)TiO_{2}$ ceramic systems with zinc-borosilicate glass and $TiO_{2}$ contents for LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) were investigated. The addition of $3{\sim}10\;wt%$ ZBS glass ensured the sinterability below $900^{\circ}C$. In general, increasing ZBS glass content seemed to enhance the sinterability, but the quality factor($Qxf_{0}$) significantly decreased due to the formation of an excessive liquid and second phases. As for the addition of $TiO_{2}$, the dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_{r}$) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_{f}$) showed to increase, while the quality factor($Qxf_{0}$) did not show an apparent change. The composition of $0.7xZnWO_{4}-0.3TiO_{2}$ ceramics sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ with 5 wt% ZBS glass demonstrated 21.6 in dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_{r}$), 14,800 in quality factor($Qxf_{0}$), and $+5\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ in temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_{f}$).

  • The $BaTi_{4}O_{9}$ ceramics with CoO(0.5wt%) were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The sintering temperature and time were $1350^{\circ}C$, 3hr., respectively. The structural properties were investigated with sintering temperature by XRD. Also the microwave dielectric properties of the $BaTi_{4}O_{9}$ ceramics were studied. According to the X -ray diffraction patte구 of the $BaTi_{4}O_{9}$ ceramics with CoO(0.5wt%), the orthorhombic $BaTi_{4}O_{9}$ structure was appeared.   • The microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)Ba(Mg$_{1}$3/Ta$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-xBa(Co$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3)O$_3$(x=0.25~0.5) ceramics depending on the Ba(Co$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$[BCN] contents and the possibility of application as a microwave dielectric resonator were investigated. The specimens were prepared by he conventional mixed oxide method using there sintering temperature of 1575$^{\circ}C$. It was found that Ba(Mg$_{1}$3/Ta$_{2}$3/)O$_3$[BMT] and BCN formed a solid solution with complex perovskite structure. As the mole fraction of BCN increased, dielectric constant increased while temperature coefficient of resonant frequency decreased. The highest value of quality factor, Qxf$_{0}$=138,205GHz, obtained in the sample of 0.9BMT-0.1BCN ceramics. In the range of x$\geq$0.4, the dielectric constant was about 30. The 0.55BMT-0.45BCN ceramics showed excellent microwave dielectric properties with $\varepsilon$$_{r}$=30.84, Qxf$_{0}$=75,325GHz and $\tau$$_{f}$=2.9015ppm/$^{\circ}C$.EX>.EX>.

  • $xCa(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-(1-x)CaTiO_{3}$ ceramics were sintered under the presence of zinc-borosilicate(ZBS) glass and resultant microwave dielectric properties were investigated with a view to applying the composition to low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. The addition of $5{\sim}15wt%$ ZBS glass ensured successful sintering below $900\;^{\circ}C$. In general, increased addition of ZBS glass increased sinterability but it decreased the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) significantly due to the formation of an excessive liquid and second phases. As for the addition of $CaTiO_3$, the dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$) increased, while the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) did not show an apparent change. The sintered $0.9Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-0.1CaTiO_{3}$ specimen at $900\;^{\circ}C$ with 10 wt% ZBS glass demonstrated 39.6 in dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$), 4,400 in quality factor$(Q{\times}f_{0}),\;and\;-11ppm/^{\circ}C$ in temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$).

  • The dielectric properties at microwave frequencies of B site complex perovskite La(Zn1/2Ti1/2)O3 which has +3 ion in A site were investigated. maximum Q*F value of the specimens was 59000 dielectric constant 34, temperature coefficient of resonant frequency -52 ppm/$^{\circ}C$. XRD pattern of the sintered specimen shows (111) ssuperlattice reflection which indicates Zn and Ti cation ordering.

  • Phsysical and dielectric properties of $(1-x)CaTiO_3-xLa(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ ceramics were investigated at the temperature range of $25^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ at the frequency of 6 GHz. As increasing addition of the amount of $La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ to x = 5 mol,Q value was increased due to grain growth and increase of density. For more addition, Q value decreased due to electrical defect. Temperature coefficient of resonant frequency could be controlled by the amount of $La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$, which could be explained by volume mixing rule.

  • Microwave dielectric properties of CaTiO3 and CaTiO3-TiO2 ceramics for the composition range between 40 and 50 mol% CaO in CaO-TiO2 binary system were investigated. CaTiO3 ceramics with50 mol% CaO showed the dielectric constant (e,) of 178, the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(c,) of+1000 ppm/'c and the qualify factor Q of 2760 (f0=2.7 GHz ). Dielectric constant and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of ceramics with dual phases of CaTiO3 and TiO2 decreased gradually from those of CaTiO3 as the CaO content decreased. Q value and density were found to have minimum at the composition of 47 mol% CaO. The degradation of Q value and density in dual phase ceramics seems to be caused by the large pores at grain boundaries and/or within grains remained after rapid growth of CaTiO3 grains as TiO2 Phase decreased.

  • In this study, the microwave dielectric properties of $0-6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$ ceramic with $H_3BO_3$ and SnO were investigated to reduce the sintering time for the LTCC application. According to the X-ray diffraction patterns, both of $0-6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$ ceramic with $H_3BO_3$ and SnO had the columbite structure of $TiTe_3O_8$ Phase, the ilmenite structure of $MgTiO_3$ phase. The density and dielectric constant of the $0-6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$ ceramics with $H_3BO_3$ sintered at $830^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour were decreased but the quality factor was not changed with addition of $H_3BO_3$. Also the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was not changed hardly. In the case of addition of SnO, the density and dielectric constant were increased but the quality factor was decreased and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was shifted to the negative(-) direction.

  • Effect of $Al_2O_3$ Additives on Microwave Dielectric Properties of $0.15(Ba_{0.85}Ca_{(0.15-y)}Mg_y)$-0.125 $Nd_2O_3-0.60TiO_2+10wt%Bi_zO_3$ (y=0.05, 0.08) Ceramics was investigated. To control of $\tau\;{f}$ on microwave dielectric properties of $0.15(Ba_{0.85}Ca_{(0.15-y)}Mg_y)$-0.125 $Nd_2O_3-0.60TiO_2+10wt%Bi_zO_3$ ceramics $Al_2O_3$ was doped in the composition range of 0 to 0.15 wt%. As a result, dielectric constant was decreased from 94 to 80 but $Q\cdot{f}_0$ value was increased from 4980 to 5210 GHz and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency can be controlled from +9 to -10$ppm^\circ{C}$ as an increase of$Al_2O_3$ doping concentration. Especially, a new microwave dielectric material having $\varepsilon\;_r=84,\;Q\cdot{f}_0=5120\;GHz\;and\;\tau_f=0\;ppm/^\circ{C}$ was obtained at $Al_2O_3$ doping concentration of 0.08 wt%.

  • The microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)La2/3TiO3-xLaAlO3 system in which LaAlO3 having $\varepsilon$r$\geq$90 and positive $\tau$f was investigated. The crystal system of (1-x)La2/3TiO3-xLaAlO3 was pseudo-cubic in the range of 0.1$\leq$x$\leq$0.07. Its lattice constant increased with increasing x in spite that the amount of LaAlO3 containing of smaller Al(0.57 $\AA$) ion than Ti(0.64 $\AA$) increased. As the amount of LaAlO3 increased from x=0.1 to 0.9, the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) decreased from 50 to 23 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$f) decreased from +84 to -50. On the other hand, the value of Q.f0 reached a maximum (148,000 at 7 GHz) at x=0.7, where a rapid increase in the peak intensity of XRD occured, and further increased after prolonged sintering. The microwave dielectric properties of $\varepsilon$r=37, Q.f0=47,000 (at 7 GHz), and $\tau$f=-2 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained near 0.6La2/3TiO3-0.4LaAlO3 (x=0.4) composition.
