High-speed multi-pass wet wire drawing has become very common for production of high-carbon steel cord because of the increase in customer demand and production rates in real industrial fields. Although, the wet wire drawing process is performed at a high speed usually above 1000m/min, greater speed is required to improve productivity. However, in the high-carbon steel wire drawing process, the wire temperature rises greatly as the drawing speed increase. The excessive temperature rise makes the wire more brittle and finally leads to wire breakage. In this study, the variations in wire temperature during the multi-pass wet wire drawing process were investigated. A multi-pass wet wire drawing process with 21 passes, which is used to produce steel cord, was redesigned by considering the increase in temperature. Through a wet wire drawing experiment, it was possible to increase the maximum final drawing speed to 2000m/min.

Combustion using oxygen enriched air is known as a technology which can increase thermal efficiency due to increase of the flame temperature. Flame shapes, schlieren photos, OH radical chemiluminescence and local flame temperature were examined as a function of OEC(Oxygen Enriched Concentration) in a coaxial non-premixed jet. With increase of OEC, flame length and width decreased, but its brightness increased significantly, and the size of vortices in the flame also increased. Especially, the reaction around the flame surface became active. The strong OH intensity appeared to be made and moved from middle stream to upper one with increase of OEC, which shows combustion reaction in the upper stream becomes more dominant In addition, the temperature distributions of the flames showed similar tendency with OH radical intensities. A flame with high temperature and strong stability was obtained with increasing OEC of the coflow.
We examined the effect of individual sweating responses on thermoregulatory responses induced by heat of sorption, immediately after the onset of sweating. The present study consists of two experiments. In experiment 1, made of 100% cotton (C) and 100% polyester (P) clothing were exposed in the chamber at ambient temperature (Ta) of $27.2^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity (rh) raised from 50% to 95% at five different increase rates of environmental vapor pressure (VP). The increase rate of clothing surface temperature (Tcs), peak Tcs and peak time showed significant correlation with the increase rate of environmental VP in C-clothing (p<0.05). In experiment 2, seven female subjects were studied during leg water immersion ($35-41^{\circ}C$) for 70min in Ta of 27.2 and 50%rh. There were significant positive correlations in the increase rate of clothing microclimate VP vs. changes in Tcs, skin blood flow, mean skin temperature and mean body temperature (p<0.05). The present results showed that individual clothing microclimate VP had significant effects on thermoregulatory responses induced by heat of sorption wearing C ensembles.

The sintering effect on the microstructure, electrical properties, and dielectric characteristics of ZnO-V2O5-MnO2-Nb2O5-Dy2O3-based ceramics was investigated. With the increase of sintering temperature from 875 to 950℃, the density of the sintered pellets decreased from 5.57 to 5.45 g/cm3 and the average grain size increased from 4.3 to 10.9 μm. The breakdown field decreased noticeably from 6,095 to 996 V/cm with the increase of sintering temperature. The varistor ceramics sintered at 900℃ exhibited the best nonlinear properties: 39.2 in the nonlinear coefficient and 0.24 mA/cm2 in the leakage current density. The dielectric constant increased sharply from 658.6 to 2,928.8 with the increase of sintering temperature. On the whole, the dissipation factor exhibited a fluctuation with the increase of the sintering temperature, and a minimum value of 0.284 at 900℃.
Due to thermal expansion, the structural behaviour of beams in steel structures subjected to temperature increase will be affected. This may result in the failure of the structural members or connection due to extra internal force in the beam induced by the thermal increase. A method to release some of the thermally generated internal force in the members is to allow for some movements at the end supports of the member. This can be achieved by making the plane of the end-plate of the connection slanted instead of vertical as in conventional design. The present paper discusses the mechanical behaviour of beams with bolted slant end-plate connection under symmetrical gravity loads, subjected to temperature increase. Analyses have been carried out to investigate the reduction in internal force with various angles of slanting, friction factor at the surface of the connection, and allowable temperature increase in the beam. The main conclusion is that higher thermal increase is tolerable when slanting connection is used, which means the risk of failure of structures can be reduced.
This study analysed data on the weather of Seoul, Gwangju and Mokpo to examine the degree of temperature increase in those Korean cities. 1) When the results of the analysis were compared with those of previously analysed temperature increase in 1990s and 1940s, there was an increase in temperature of $1.7^{\circ}C$ in Seoul, $1.5^{\circ}C$ in Gwangju and $0.7^{\circ}C$ in Mokpo. 2) According to the seasonal analysis, $1.7^{\circ}C$ in Seoul, $1.5^{\circ}C$ in Gwangju and $0.7^{\circ}C$ in Mokpo increased in Spring. On a monthly basis in Spring increase in April was highest($2.3^{\circ}C$ and $1.0^{\circ}C$ in Gwangju and Mokpo, respectively). As for Seoul, $2.4^{\circ}C$ increased in March, highest. In July and August of Summer, no significant change occurred in the three cities, but in Autumn, $1.0^{\circ}C,\;1.5^{\circ}C$, and $0.3^{\circ}C$ in Seoul, Gwangju and Mokpo increased, respectively. In Winter, $2.9^{\circ}C$ in Seoul, $1.9^{\circ}C$ in Gwangju, and $2.3^{\circ}C$ in Mokpo increased, respectively.
Transparent thin films of pure and nickel-doped ZrO2 are grown successfully by sol-gel dip-coating technique. The structural and optical properties according to the different annealing temperatures (300 ℃, 400 ℃ and 500 ℃) are investigated. Analysis of crystallographic properties through X-ray diffraction pattern reveals an increase in crystallite size due to increase in crystallinity with temperature. All fabricated thin films are highly-oriented along (101) planes, which enhances the increase in nickel doping. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy are employed to confirm the homogeneity in surface morphology as well as the doping configuration of films. The extinction coefficient is found to be on the order of 10-2, showing the surface smoothness of deposited thin films. UV-visible spectroscopy reveals a decrease in the optical band gap with the increase in annealing temperature due to the increase in crystallite size. The variation in Urbach energy and defect density with doping and the change in annealing temperature are also studied.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) microbeads were synthesized by dropping 0.5 wt% of sodium hyaluronate dissolved in NaOH into 0.2 vol% of divinyl sulfone dissolved in 2-methyl-1propanol at a speed of 0.005 ml/min. HA microbeads were collected from a divinyl sulfone crosslinker solution stirred at 200 to 400 rpm for 5 h at temperatures from room temperature to $60^{\circ}C$ at intervals of $10^{\circ}C$. The crosslinked microbeads were then cleaned thoroughly using distilled water and ethanol. SEM results revealed that the microbeads were white-colored spheres. The 3-D porous network structure of the microbeads became dense with an increase in the crosslinking temperature; however, no dependence of the crosslinking temperature on the microbead size was detected. The extent of swelling decreased from 970% to 670% with an increase in the crosslinking temperature from room temperature to $60^{\circ}C$, most likely due to the increase in the degree of crosslinking.
The physiological characteristics, growth, and yield of each regional rice variety ('Odaebyeo', 'Saechucheong', 'Ilmibyeo') were investigated depending on the impact of changes in temperature and CO2 concentration. Experiments were conducted with a control group, which reflected atmospheric CO2 concentration and temperature, and treatment groups, in which the CO2 concentration and temperature were increased by 250 ppm and 2.0℃ from those in the control group. The results showed that the increase in CO2 concentration and temperature reduced the growth and yield of the rice 'Odaebyeo', but did not substantially change the productivity of the 'Saechucheong' and 'Ilmibyeo'. The increase in CO2 concentration and temperature increased stomatal conductance and rate of transpiration of the 'Odaebyeo' variety, thereby decreasing its water use efficiency (WUE). In contrast, the increase in CO2 concentration and temperature increased the photosynthetic rate and WUE of the 'Saechucheong' and 'Ilmibyeo' varieties. The gradual change in climate is considered to directly affect growth and development of rice and diversely affect the productivity of each variety. Therefore, it is necessary to implement technological development, select regionally optimal rice varieties, develop new rice varieties, as well as conduct long-term monitoring of each rice variety for climate adaptation to counter global warming.
Numerical simulations of high temperature catalytic combustion have been performed for the application to a gas turbine combustor. Dependences of inlet temperature and pressure on the distributions of temperature and species concentrations were investigated using plug flow model with detailed homogeneous and heterogeneous chemistries of methane-air mixtures. Honeycomb typecombustor deposited with Pt catalyst of 100mm in length and 26mm in diameter is used. The results show that rapid increase of temperature profile occurs earlier with the increase of inlet temperature and the decrease of inlet pressure. The condition which catalytic combustion is stabilized exists at certain range of inlet temperature and pressure. The state of catalytic combustion is also confirmed by the distributions of species concentration.
