  • We have developed a data integration system for ground-based space weather facilities in Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). The data integration system is necessary to analyze and use ground-based space weather data efficiently, and consists of a server system and data monitoring systems. The server system consists of servers such as data acquisition server or web server, and storage. The data monitoring systems include data collecting and processing applications and data display monitors. With the data integration system we operate the Space Weather Monitoring Lab (SWML) where real-time space weather data are displayed and our ground-based observing facilities are monitored. We expect that this data integration system will be used for the highly efficient processing and analysis of the current and future space weather data at KASI.

  • In this paper, we designed file system in order to utilize data analysis by using correlation result from Daejeon correlator including related software development. Correlation results are consisted of visibility component (amplitude and phase) of radio source, but for data analysis of correlation result, various information such as weather, radio telescope position, observation time, radio source position, source type, and receiver noise temperature are needed. In this paper, we designed file system as a directory-structure for making use of these informations at Linux system for analyzing data and developed software to make file system. To verify the effectiveness of designed file system and developed software, file system generation experiment is conducted, and then astronomers accepted that there is no severe problem for scientific analysis using designed file system.

  • The GMT-Consortium Large Earth Finder (G-CLEF) is the very first light instrument of the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) and an optical-band echelle spectrograph. The Flexure Control Camera (FCC) is one of the major contributions of KASI's for the spectrograph project. FCC system includes the Fiber Mirror monitoring and the on- and off-slit mode auto-guidance algorithm. In this study, we present the modified design of the FCC optics and opto-mechanics after the G-CLEF Preliminary Design Review (PDR) held in Cambridge in April 2015.

  • A focal reducer is developed for CQUEAN (Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse), which is a CCD imaging system on the 2.1 m Otto Struve telescope at the McDonald observatory. It allows CQUEAN to secure a wider field of view by reducing the effective focal length by a factor of three. The optical point spread function without seeing effects is designed to be within one pixel ($0.283^{\prime\prime}$) over the field of view of $4.82^{\prime}{\times}4.82^{\prime}$ in optimum wavelength ranges of 0.8-1.1 ${\mu}m$. In this paper, we describe and discuss the characteristics of optical design, the lens and barrel fabrications and the alignment processes. The observation results show that the image quality of the focal reducer confirms the expectations from the design.

  • In order to analyze the receiver gain characteristic of the Soret-type FZPL lens antenna which is operated at 12GHz, TLM method can be applied. The application of the FZPL lens antenna is often use the receiver for satellite TV system, radio telescope, and Geodetic System. Some numerical results computed by TLM method are compared with Kirchhoff's approximation and PO method. The focal characteristic of receiver gain on main axis of the FZPL is mostly shown at the front side, which means that the position of the receiver should be properly calibrated.

  • High-resolution spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing binary system RR Lyn were made using the 1.8 m telescope at the Bohuynsan Optical Astronomical Observatory in Korea. The spectral resolving power was R = 82,000, with a signal to noise ratio of S/N > 150. We found the effective temperatures and surface gravities of the primary and secondary components to be equal to $T_{eff}$ = 7,920 & 7,210 K and log(g) = 3.80 & 4.16, respectively. The abundances of 34 and 17 different chemical elements were found in the atmospheric components. Correlations between the derived abundances with condensation temperatures and the second ionization potentials of these elements are discussed. The primary component is a typical metallic line star with the abundances of light and iron group elements close to solar values, while elements with atomic numbers Z > 30 are overabundant by 0.5-1.5 dex with respect to solar values. The secondary component is a ${\lambda}$ Boo type star. In this type of stars, CNO abundances are close to solar values, while the abundance pattern shows a negative correlation with condensation temperatures.

  • We present a general N-body exasolar system simulator in anticipation of upcoming searches for exoplanets and even exomoons by next generation telescopes such as James Webb Space Telescope. For habitable zones, traditionally defined by temperature, we here address the essential problem of dynamical stability of planetary orbits. Illustrative examples are presented on P-type orbits in stellar binary systems, that should be fairly common as in Kepler 16b. Specific attention is paid to reduced orbital lifetimes of exoplanets in the habitable zone by the stellar binary, that is propoesed by Maurice van Putten (2017). Especially, we focused on a classic work of complex three-body problem that is well known by Dvorak(1986). We charge his elliptic restricted three-body problem to extend unrestricted three-body problem to look into dynamical motions in view of circumbinary planet, furthermore, we suggest that opposite angular orientation of the planet is relative to the stability of orbits. In here, counter-rotation case is relatively more faster than co-rotation case for being stable. As a result, we find that various initial conditions and thresholds to approach dynamical stability and unstability with unexpectable isolated islands over enormous parameter space. Even, superkeplerian effect of binary is important to habitability of the exoplanet and we can verify that superfaster binary doesn't effect on th planet and increases survivality of planet around the binary.

  • We present the near infrared JHK photometric properties and the spatial distribution of red supergiants(RSGs) of NGC 3623, NGC 3627 and NGC 3628 in the Leo Triplet system using the data obtained with 3.8m UKIRT(United Kingdom Infra-Red Telescope) at Hawaii. We checked interaction between the three galaxies by making a spatial density map of RSGs. From (J-K,K)0 Color-Magnitude Diagram which include resolved stars in three galaxy and control field with PARSEC isochrone, we figured out the RSG candidates of the Leo triplet are at 0.9<(J-K)0<1.2, mK<17.5 and separated them from background and foreground sources. Using gaussian kernel density estimation, we drew spatial density map of RSGs in the Leo triplet with an assumption that all RSGs are an identical population. The density map shows extended features of NGC 3628 to NGC 3627 along the declination direction. The asymmetries between NGC 3627 and NGC 3628 might be evidence for that the distribution of actual star components(RSGs) follows the neutral hydrogen distribution and also for interaction between two galaxies. And the extended features along the right ascension direction might be a supporting evidence for the existence of a TDG(Tidal Dwarf Galaxy). In case of NGC 3623, we could not see any sign of interaction in density map.

  • Gravity waves have been searched for with a new all-sky camera system over Korean Peninsular. The all-sky camera consists of a 37mm/F4.5 Mamiya fisheye lens with a 180 dog field of view, interference filters and a 1024 by 1024 CCD camera. The all-sky camera has been tested near Daejeon city, and moved to Mt. Bohyun where the largest astronomical telescope is operated in Korea. A clear wave pattern was successfully detected in OH filter images over Mt. Bohyun on July 18, 2001, indicating that small scale coherent gravity waves perturbed OH airglow near the mesopause. Other wave features are since then observed with Na 589.8nm and OI 630.0nm filters. Since a Japanese all-sky camera network has already detected traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) over the northeast-southwest range of Japanese islands, we hope our all-sky camera extends the coverage of the TID's observations to the west direction. We plan to operate our all-sky camera all year around to study seasonal variation of wave activities over the mid-latitude upper atmosphere.

  • R Canis Majoris is a bright, short-period ($1^d$.1359) Algol-type eclipsing binary. For a long time, it was considered to be a low-mass binary star with $M_1=1.1M_{\odot}$ and $M_2=0.17M_{\odot}$ primary and secondary components, respectively (Tomkin, 1985). Glazunova, Yushchenko & Mkrtichian (2009) found new masses for the primary and secondary components of $M_1=1.81M_{\odot}$ and $M_2=0.23M_{\odot}$, respectively and resolved a long-standing problem with the low masses of components for this binary. Budding and Butland (2011) confirmed the results of Glazunova, Yushchenko & Mkrtichian and obtained improved orbits and masses. New spectroscopic observations of R CMa were done during 8 nights on December 2012 with the 2.4-meter telescope of the Thai National Observatory (TNO) and fibre-fed medium resolution echelle spectrograph. We obtained new, accurate orbital radial velocities of the two components of this binary system. Results of these investigations and the new orbital parameters are presented.
