  • The Web Services Choreography Description Language (WS-CDL) is an XML-based language that describes peer-to-peer collaborations of parties by defining, from a global viewpoint, their common and complementary observable behavior; where ordered message exchanges result in accomplishing a common business goal.   • Navigation satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS etc.) provide three main services, i.e., positioning for location based services, navigation for multi-modal transportation services, and timing for communication and critical infrastructure services. They were started as military systems but were extended to civil service. Navigation satellite navigation system began with GPS in the USA and GLONASS in Russia at nearly the same time. Indian NavIC and Chines BDS announced their FOCs in 2016 and 2020, respectively and European Galileo and Japanese QZSS are catching up others. In these days, Navigation Satellite System, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing services are part of our daily life very closely. They are required for autonomous driving car, Unmanned vehicles like UAV, UGV, and UMV, 5G/6G telecommunications, world financial system, power system, survey, agriculture, and so on. The services among navigation satellite systems are very competitive and also cooperative one another. This article describes the status of these systems and evolution in the technical and service senses, which may be helpful for planning korea positioning system(KPS).

Clustering and Recommendation for Semantic Web Service in Time Series

  • Promoted by cloud technology and new websites, plenty and variety of Web services are emerging in the Internet. Meanwhile some Web services become outdated even obsolete due to new versions, and a normal phenomenon is that some services work well only with other services of older versions. These laggard or improper services are lowering the performance of the composite service they involved in. In addition, using current technology to identify proper semantic services for a composite service is time-consuming and inaccurate. Thus, we proposed a clustering method and a recommendation method to deal with these problems. Clustering technology is used to classify semantic services according to their topics, functionality and other aspects from plenty of services. Recommendation technology is used to predict the possible preference of a composite service, and recommend possible component services to the composite service according to the history information of invocations and similar composite services. The experiments show that our clustering method with the help of Ontology and TF/IDF technology is more accurate than others, and our recommendation method has less average error than others in the series of missing rate.

Stencil-based 3D facial relief creation from RGBD images for 3D printing

  • Three-dimensional (3D) selfie services, one of the major 3D printing services, print 3D models of an individual's face via scanning. However, most of these services require expensive full-color supporting 3D printers. The high cost of such printers poses a challenge in launching a variety of 3D printing application services. This paper presents a stencil-based 3D facial relief creation method employing a low-cost RGBD sensor and a 3D printer. Stencil-based 3D facial relief is an artwork in which some parts are holes, similar to that in a stencil, and other parts stand out, as in a relief. The proposed method creates a new type of relief by combining the existing stencil techniques and relief techniques. As a result, the 3D printed product resembles a two-colored object rather than a one-colored object even when a monochrome 3D printer is used. Unlike existing personalization-based 3D printing services, the proposed method enables the printing and delivery of products to customers in a short period of time. Experimental results reveal that, compared to existing 3D selfie products printed by monochrome 3D printers, our products have a higher degree of similarity and are more profitable.

  • To have competitive advantage over competing telecommunications services, it is crucial to provide higher value with lower cost. In this study, CUP (Cost-Utility-Preference) chart is developed to analyze the market competition dynamically. It considers both the competition and customers' preference of each service to explain the change of the competitive landscape over time. Conjoint analysis is used for detailed analysis. Using the chart, we can analyze the currently competing services, predict the future scenarios of the competition, develop new services, and understand the causes of successes or failures of telecommunications services.

  • Korea will face difficult social problems including population decline and climate change in the future. Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ICT convergence services are expected to greatly help in overcoming these social challenges. Accordingly, we have derived key promising services (AI+x) in terms of individuals, industries, and countries and identified expectations and threats perceived by the general public. These findings provide policies and research directions for promising AI-based ICT convergence services for social goods.

  • The 4th industrial revolution needs a fusion of artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, and other technologies. For the fusion of technologies, cloud computing technology can provide flexible and high-performance computing resources so that cloud computing can be the foundation technology of new emerging services. The emerging services become a global-scale, and require much higher performance, availability, and reliability. Public cloud providers already provide global-scale services. However, their services, costs, performance, and policies are different. Enterprises/ developers to come out with a new inter-operable service are experiencing vendor lock-in problems. Therefore, multi-cloud technology that federatively resolves the limitations of single cloud providers is required. We propose a software platform, denoted as Cloud-Barista. Cloud-Barista is a multi-cloud service common platform for federating multiple clouds. It makes multiple cloud services as a single service. We explain the functional architecture of the proposed platform that consists of several frameworks, and then discuss the main design and implementation issues of each framework. To verify the feasibility of our proposal, we show a demonstration which is to create 18 virtual machines on several cloud providers, combine them as a single resource, and manage it.

네트워크 진화에 따른 통신서비스 확산 패턴의 변화 (Diffusion Patterns of Telecommunications Services with Network Evolution)

  • 상호작용적 성격을 갖는 통신서비스의 수요확산패턴은 네트워크 효과에 기인한 임계 가입자 규모에 상당한 의존을 보이고 있으며, 이로 인한 통신서비스의 지연 확산 시기 현상이 발생하고 있다. 그러나 통신망이 회선교환망에서 패킷교환망으로 빠르게 진화하고 또한 다양한 패킷기반 서비스들이 개발, 제공됨에 따라 이러한 통신서비스의 확산 패턴 상의 특성은 변화하고 있다. 내구재를 대상으로 수요 확산 패턴을 분석한 기존 연구들과 국내 6개 회선기반서비스 그리고 역시 6개 패킷기반서비스의 확산 패턴을 비교 분석한 결과, 기존 회선기반서비스들에서 보인 지연 확산 시기 현상은 존재하지 않았으며. 뿐만 아니라 다른 내구재들의 초기 확산보다 더 빠른 확산 속도를 보임으로서 오히려 빠른 확산 시기 현상이 발생하고 있음을 발견하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 향후 신규 통신서비스 확산 전략은 기존의 통신서비스 보급 및 확산을 위한 초기 단계에서의 촉진전략에서 성장 단계의 확산 유지 및 확대 전략이 보다 유용한 전략임을 제시하였다.

Dynamic Resource Allocation and Scheduling for Cloud-Based Virtual Content Delivery Networks

  • This paper proposes a novel framework for virtual content delivery networks (CDNs) based on cloud computing. The proposed framework aims to provide multimedia content delivery services customized for content providers by sharing virtual machines (VMs) in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud, while fulfilling the service level agreement. Furthermore, it supports elastic virtual CDN services, which enables the capabilities of VMs to be scaled to encompass the dynamically changing resource demand of the aggregated virtual CDN services. For this, we provide the system architecture and relevant operations for the virtual CDNs and evaluate the performance based on a simulation.

WS-CDL 개발 동향 및 모바일 환경을 위한 개선 방향 (The Trends of Web Services Choreography and its enhance model for Mobile Environments)

  • 하나의 웹서비스가 이 와 연동하는 클라이언트와 1회 이상의 연동(interaction)을 필요로 할 경우, 웹서비스에서는 이를 명확히 정의하는 규약이 필요하게 되는데 이를 안무(choreography) 또는 대화(conversation)라 부르며, 총칭하여 협업 웹서비스 기술로 부른다. 최근 W3C는 웹서비스의 안무를 위한WS-CDL(Choreography Description Language)를 개발 중에 있으며, WS-CDL은 웹서비스들 간의 전체적인 안무 교환이나 메시지 교환을 정의 한다. 그러나, WS-CDL은 연결성 (connectivity)이 항상 보장되지 않는 모바일 환경이나 사용자가 이동하는 경우에 사용하기에는 비효율이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 WS-CDL개발 동향에 대 해서 살펴 보고, 가지고 있는 문제점을 보완하기 위한 방안을 제시한다.
