Tele-operating System of Field Robot for Cultivation Management - Vision based Tele-operating System of Robotic Smart Farming for Fruit Harvesting and Cultivation Management

  • Purposes: This study was to validate the Robotic Smart Work System that can provides better working conditions and high productivity in unstructured environments like bio-industry, based on a tele-operation system for fruit harvesting with low cost 3-D positioning system on the laboratory level. Methods: For the Robotic Smart Work System for fruit harvesting and cultivation management in agriculture, a vision based tele-operating system and 3-D position information are key elements. This study proposed Robotic Smart Farming, an agricultural version of Robotic Smart Work System, and validated a 3-D position information system with a low cost omni camera and a laser marker system in the lab environment in order to get a vision based tele-operating system and 3-D position information. Results: The tasks like harvesting of the fixed target and cultivation management were accomplished even if there was a short time delay (30 ms ~ 100 ms). Although automatic conveyor works requiring accurate timing and positioning yield high productivity, the tele-operation with user's intuition will be more efficient in unstructured environments which require target selection and judgment. Conclusions: This system increased work efficiency and stability by considering ancillary intelligence as well as user's experience and knowhow. In addition, senior and female workers will operate the system easily because it can reduce labor and minimized user fatigue.

  • The development of a robot system being able to work instead of human in the hazardous environment have been conducted for many year. In this study, the new design of controllers for the Master-Slave system is discussed. The Master-Slave system, force, velocity and torque signals are communicated between a master and a slave system. the conventional requires the enhancement of characteristics of tactility for minute force, precision signals and mechanical abrasion of loader. It is possible b controlling the viscosity of ERF(Electro-rheological fluid) since it varies with the electric field. Design of controller as well comparison between numerical simulation and experiments as will be presented. Futhermore, current methodology is also applicable to design of tele-surgery

Wheeled Blimp: Hybrid Structured Airship with Passive Wheel Mechanism for Tele-guidance Applications

  • This paper presents a novel design of indoor airship having a passive wheeled mechanism and its stationary position control. This wheeled blimp can work both on the ground using wheeled vehicle part and in the air using the floating capability of the blimp part. The wheeled blimp stands on the floor keeping its balance using a caster-like passive wheel mechanism. In tele-guidance application, stationary position control is required to make the wheeled blimp naturally communicate with people in standing phase since the stationary blimp system responds sensitively to air flow even in indoor environments. To control the desired stationary position, a computed torque control method is adopted. By performing a controller design through dynamic analysis, the control characteristics of the wheeled blimp system have been found and finally the stable control system has been successfully developed. The effectiveness of the controller is verified by experiment for the real wheeled blimp system.

  • A master-slave system for tele-operation had been developed and tested for several decades. In this paper the master robot is composed of several wires and provides position information of the handle which is driven by a operator within the master robot work space. A PC is used for the command calculation for a slave robot. This paper deals with the relation between the number of strings and D.O.F of the master robot, control method of the slave robot during the operation and the monitoring method over the working area by the computer graphics simulation. The D.O.F of the master robot can be modified by adding or subtracting some strings. The controller of the slave robot uses the advanced PD control method to keep the performance against varying working load.

  • In this paper, we propose a tube-hole center detection vision algorithm verifying the position of a tele-controlled robot and providing visual information for increasing reliability and efficiency in the diagnosis of steam generator (SG) tubes in nuclear power plant. A tele-controlled robot plays a role in carrying the probe used in inspecting the integrity of SG tubes. Thus accurately locating a tele-controlled robot on the desired tube-hole center is important issue for reliability of inspection. To do this work, we have to find the tube-hole center locations from the input image. At first, we apply the three-class segmentation method modified for this application. WE extract minimum bounding rectangles (MBRs) in the theresholded binary image. Second, for discriminating between MBR by tube and MBR by noise, we introduce the MBR rejection rules as knowledge-based rule set. MBRs are divided into the very dark region MBRs and the very bright region MBRs. In order to describe the region of complete tube-hole, the MBRs need a process of pairing each other. We then can find the tube-hole center from the paired MBR. For more accurately finding the tube-hole center in several sequential images, the centers of some frames need to be averaged. We tested the performance of our method using hundreds of real images.

  • 로봇 원격조종 방법은 1:1, 1:N, N:1, 그리고 N:N의 다양한 방법이 있다. 오퍼레이터가 원격지 로봇을 제어하기 위해서는 로봇의 주변 상황, 모바일 장치의 충돌 가능성, 그리고 매니퓰레이터의 힘을 인지할 수 있어야 한다. 원격조종에서는 데이터 통신과 처리에 소요되는 시간에 따른 지연이 발생하는데, 이 시간 지연은 로봇의 충돌과 햅틱 기반 제어에 있어 양방향 힘 반영에 따른 매니퓰레이터의 바이브레이션과 과도한 힘 반영을 초래할 수 있다. N:N 제어 방식은 근래 개발 중인 조종 기술로 멀티 오퍼레이터가 멀티 로봇을 스위칭하면서 제어하는 구조를 가진다. 이 구조를 구현하기 위해서는 오퍼레이터가 어떤 로봇을 제어할 것인지, 또는 그 로봇의 어떤 장치를 제어할 것인지에 대한 스위칭 기능이 필요하며, 다수의 오퍼레이터가 함께 원격조종을 수행할 때에는 이 스위칭 알고리즘이 반드시 필요하다. 또한 오퍼레이터의 성향에 따라 조종 성향이 달라지므로 이를 일반화하기위한 방안도 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 다수의 로봇과 다수의 오퍼레이터가 원격으로 로봇들을 제어하여 작업을 수행할 수 있는 햅틱 기반 제어 환경을 구축하는 방안과 구현에 대하여 기술한다.

  • This paper proposes a tole force feedback control through internet systems. The system consists of joystick, solver, client, robot, and internet.   • Tele manipulator is distingushed from industrial robot by iterating same specified work. Manipulator operator is included in control loop for controlling the telemanipulator because he decide directly during the work and order controllabily reducing the modelling error of telemanipulator which depend on the PID controller. But position-force control method of bidirectional control impose unsafety of vibiration and Analytic Hierachy Method can stabilize for reducing nonlinear modelling error by expert operator because of transformation empirical control rule to linear model.

  • It is materialized an unmanned vehicle system as a part of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) which is a fundamental constituent for unmanned vehicle. Remote control system, monitoring system and remote operating system which are consisted of unmanned vehicle system. Network program by TCP/IP socket, and real-time control & operating controlled by servo-motors from a remote place, those are used to verify safety and stability of the unmanned vehicle system in this research. This unmanned vehicle is divided into two major sections which are an unmanned vehicle part and control station part. The server PC is installed on the unmanned vehicle and a client PC is installed at a remote place, which can control the u manned vehicle. In this research work, main theme is that we experimented and tested to check the speed and utilization of the wireless LAN communication.

  • In this paper, we propose a system which can display panoramic-stereopic image for tele-operating excavator. the system was implemented by using center-viewpoint corresponding algorithm and image mosaic process. We could obtain remarkable result from the survey among the ex-pert of excavator. We also design a control station with RF transfer module, H.264 codec module and suggested algorithm. Especially, our system shows a superb performance on cubic effect and presence sense of a field of excavating work.
