  • In this paper, we introduce an integrated communication and control system(ICCS) for control of a crane. The system is integrated with a compasite technique as a network interfacing, a user interfacing and a system control for continuous process like as a container crane. The field-bus(Profibus) network module is used to interconnect each input/output module with main control unit. The MMI system for user interfacing is integrated with an ODBC-based data management tool and IECl131-based control logic design tool(Soft-Logic Designer:SLD). The each programmed control task in the main Controller is executed using a petri-net based scheduler.

  • We demonstrated micro-scale conducting polymer patterning based on a selective surface treatment. A substrate with a patterned photoresist was immersed into OTS (Octadecyltrichlosilnae) solution. The protected substrate areas were hydrophilic after removing the PR resist, where a conducting polymer solution was coated selectively by spin-coating method.

  • In this article, recent trends of technology in design of CNC system for machine tools which has increased in number and applications by needs for FA(Factory Automation), save of labor in various industries, are described. These technology improvements in CNC system take place especially in the field of performance, reliability, compactness, price, etc. From these technology improvements, the theme of "performance improvements of CNC system" are selected and mostly described in this article. Also, the major features of a CNC system product of our company and its characteristics in system design are briefly described.described.

  • EMU Traction Control System has been largely relied on foreign technology until now. In this time, this system is developed by own local technology according to national technology development policy during 3 years. In this paper, the new developed Traction Control System of EMU and its testing results are introduced. The Traction Control System is consisted latest IGBT switching elements and its traction control algorithm is realized by the state-of-the-art technology, vector control. The system is fully tested in various conditions and the quality is well verified in those tests.

  • In this study, We evaluated the efficiency of the smart ventilation system being developed at the test-bed(KCL). Smart ventilation system improve the indoor air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide. It is reducing the infusion of outside air can be reduced to minimum energy consumption. To evaluate the energy savings and carbon dioxide removal efficiency. It was more effective when working with air conditioning and ventilation system at the same time.

  • A blind system for window glass has been designed and manufactured as a CapStone Design project at Seoul National University of Science and Technology. This system automatically controls the interior illuminance to maintain a uniform temperature. The aim of this project was to support an air conditioning system and heating equipment to maintain a good indoor environment. Proportional integral differential (PID) control using cadmium sulfide (CdS) sensors was applied to control it. Polaroid film was attached to the new blind system to reflect sunlight. It was found that the system had the potential to reduce energy consumption and may be used with a building energy management system (BEMS).

This paper describes how to acquire and manage the data to be generated from sensor sources in a manufacturing process. The functionality of this data management system is composed of data acquisition, database management, processing and display of the available data. Also, this system has a adaptability to be carried throughout configuration management.

  • For the pressurized water reactor two-step calculation, the traditional assembly homogenization and two-group neutron diffusion calculation have been widely used. When it comes to the core pin-by-pin simulation, many models and techniques are different and unsettled. In this paper, the homogenization methods based on the pin discontinuity factors and super homogenization factors are used to get the pin-cell homogenized parameters. The heterogeneous leakage model is applied to modify the infinite flux spectrum of the single assembly with reflective boundary condition and to determine the diffusion coefficients for the SP3 solver which is used in the core simulation. To reduce the environment effect of the single-assembly reflective boundary condition, the online method for the SPH factors updating is applied in this paper, and the functionalization of SPH factors based on the least-squares method will be pre-made alone with the table of the group constants. The fitting function will be used to update the thermal-group SPH factors with a whole-core pin-by-pin homogeneous solution online. The three-dimensional Watts Bar Nuclear Unit 1 (WBN1) problem was utilized to test the performance of pin-by-pin calculation. And numerical results have demonstrated that PWR pin-by-pin core calculation has more accurate results compared with the traditional assembly-homogenization scheme.

  • Though a demand for 3-D CG (Three-Dimensional Computer Graphics) drastically increases, traditional modeling system for virtual objects are very difficult to handle. Applying VR (Virtual Reality) technology is, however, able to make the modeling systems more efficiently and intuitively. In this paper, traditional modeling operations are analyzed and their problems are clarified. We discuss what can be improved with VR technology. Then, a guideline of merging VR technology into the modeling system is described. A new modeling system is proposed using a CAVE system which is utilized in the latest VR technology. This proposed system aids in creating 3-D objects with high immersion in VEs (Virtual Environments)
