Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has been used since 1967 for refractory chronic pain. SCS has recently undergone a variety of technical modifications and advances, and it has been applied in a variety of pain conditions. SCS has been most commonly applied for those patients with chronic back and leg pain and failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS). The clinical hallmark of FBSS is chronic postoperative pain. The pain pattern varies and the pain may show an axial or radicular distribution. Chronic intractable pain after FBSS is difficult to treat. This report describes our experience with treating chronic pain in two patients who suffered from FBSS with a spinal cord stimulator. A permanent spinal cord stimulator was implanted after a successful trial of stimulation with temporarily implanted electrodes. After 5 months of follow-up, the two patients had satisfactory improvement of their pain.

Resection and reconstruction of distal trachea or carina have posed tremendous technical challenges for surgeons. Successful outcome depends on thorough preoperative evaluation, careful anesthetic management,strict attention of surgical technique and postoperative care. We report a successful case of revision of tracheal stenosis using femoro-femoral bypass on a 13~year-old boy. The patient complained severe dyspnea about I month following right sleeve pneumonectomy. Preoperative CT scan and intraoperative bronchoscopy showed pin-point tracheal stenosis at a tracheo-bronchial anastomosis site about 1.2cm in length.At operation the lesion was severely adhesed and the lumen was nearly obstructed. The stenotic segment was resected and direct end-to-end anastomosis was done under femoro-femoral bypass for adequate oxygenation. The patient was discharged at postop. 16 days without specific complications and has continued to do well.

정보통신의 기능표준화를 다루는 국제표준화회의인 ISO/IEC JTC1 SGFS(Special Group on Function Standardization)의 제8차 회의가 ''93년 7월 5일부터 5일간 체신부의 주관으로 한국통신, 정보산업표준원 및 한국전자통신연구소의 공동 주최하에 서울의 한국통신 연구개발단에서 성공적으로 개최되었다. SGFS회의는 국제기능표준화의 방향 및 골격을 결정하는 고위급 정보통신 국제표준화회의로서, 금번 회의에는 9개국 및 4개 국제표준화기구의 대표자 21인이 참석하였다. 본 SGFS 회의의 주요결과로는 WDTR(Working Draft Technical Report) 10000-2.4의 신규 개정안 채택, SGFS 절차의 확장 및 진전, SGFS에 대한 광고 자료의 작성 결정 등을 들수 있다. 본고에서는 이번 SGFS회의의 결과를 중심으로 결정된 내용을 개략적으로 소개하고자 한다.

최근 전 세계적인 원자로 시설의 감축으로 인한 수입 치료용 동위원소의 가격 상승으로 인하여 의료기관에서 근접치료기 운영에 문제가 되고 있다. 본 보고서에서는 국내에서 생산한 두 종류 Ir-192 선원(직경 4.5 mm와 1.1 mm)의 개발 과정과 기술 동향 대하여 제시하였다. 이 보고서의 내용이 근접치료기를 운영하는 의료기관에서 정책 수립에 도움이 되기를 바란다.

본 내용에서는 대체에너지 이용기술개발 및 실용화를 위해 국책 사업으로 추진하는 정부의 의지와 함께 국내에 보급되고 있는 태양열 이용 시스템의 가장 중요한 구성요소인 집열기와 온수기에 대한 취급업체 현황 및 종류를 분류 정리하여 에너지 자원을 거의 수입에 의존하고 있는 국내 실정을 감안 민간 업체에서도 태양에너지 분야에 대한 다각적인 검토와 적용이 이루어져 국가에너지 절약을 꾀함을 물론 국산화 개발과 실용화에 관련하여 기본적인 참고가 되도록 정리하는데 의의를 두었다.

Following the evaluation of the irrigation & drainage structure, a suitable repair and reinforcing procedure can be selected based on this report. Successful procedures take into account the causes of the crack. This provides a survey of crack repair methods, including a summary of the characteristics of the cracks that may be repaired with each procedure, the type of irrigation & drainage structure that have been repaired and a summary of the procedures that are used. Readers are also directly contacted to the website(http:/rri.karico.co.kr/rricon). This report is intended to support the purposes, philosophy, and needs, using easily understood graphics and photos from the construction fields. The results of this study will be distributed to the public official in technical post, the operator in construction site and the member of Korea Agricultural & Rural Infrastructure Corporation and etc.

Skin grafting is often required for diabetic ulcerative foot lesions. In skin grafting, effective regional or local anesthesia into the donor and recipient areas plays a significant role in continuous control of pain. We report on a technique of ultrasound-guided nerve block on the femoral, sciatic, and lateral femoral cutaneous nerves in large split-thickness skin grafting for ulcer of the foot and leg.

Efforts to apply augmented reality (AR) technology in the medical field include the introduction of AR techniques into dental practice. The present report introduces a simple method of applying AR during an inferior alveolar nerve block, a procedure commonly performed in dental clinics.

The Fontan operation for tricuspid atresia was first performed in 1968[Fontan and Baudet 1971] and several technical modifications of procedure were developed. We have experienced a case of modified Fontan operation for tricuspid atresia type Ic who was 5 years old female. She had previous palliative procedure \ulcornerpulmonary artery banding due to excessively increased pulmonary blood flow. The modified Fontan operation was right atrium to right ventricle connection with valve-bearing conduit. The result was good and the patient was discharged 20 days after operation.
