Among 90 Vietnamese medicinal plant extracts investigated for their antioxidant activity by DPPH assay at various concentrations from $10-100{\mu}g/mL$, 67 showed an inhibition rate over 50% at $100{\mu}g/mL$; 47 had greater than 50% inhibition at $50{\mu}g/mL$; 17 showed over 50% inhibition at $25{\mu}g/mL$. 8 extracts which exhibited strong inhibitory activity more than 50% inhibition at $10{\mu}g/mL$ were further tested for lipid peroxidation inhibition by TBA assay. They displayed activity with $IC_{50}$ values from 30.6 to $158.9{\mu}g/mL$. Until now, this is the first report on antioxidant activity of the female flower of Borassus flabellifer, and the stem of Combretum latifolium, Embelia ribes, Spatholobus parviflorus, and Tetrastigma erubescens. Fractionations of the EtOAc extract prepared from S. parviflorus led to the isolation of protocatechuic acid (1), ferulic acid (2), epicatechin (3), and gallic acid (4). These compounds showed significant DPPH inhibitory activity with $IC_{50}$ values from 6.5 to $23.6{\mu}M$.

We report the case of a 37-year-old man who suffered from biventricular failure due to left isomerism, inferior vena cava interruption with azygos vein continuation, bilateral superior vena cava, double outlet of right ventricle, complete atrioventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis, and isolated dextrocardia. Heart transplantation in patients with systemic venous anomalies often requires the correction and reconstruction of the upper & lower venous drainage. We present a case of heart transplantation in a patient with left isomerism, highlighting technical modifications to the procedure, including the unifocalization of the caval veins and reconstruction with patch augmentation.

Recently, the importance and necessity of engineering analysis has shown a steady growth. However, researchers working in small and medium enterprises know little about the usefulness of engineering analysis and suffer from lack of technical knowledge. Axial fan is air fluid machinery in various fields of industry such as automobile, electric appliance, and heavy machinery. It is also a time and budget consuming equipment to develop the axial fan through physical experiments. In order to overcome this problem, we have designed and developed a web-base automated simulator for axial fan's fluid analysis using supercomputer. Automated simulator means that all of processes for engineering analysis including pre-process, solving, and post-process can be performed automatically without user intervention after transferring fan model(CAD files) made by user. After executing the simulator with some parameters, user can receive the report including pressure P and flow rate Q. In this paper, we introduce the architecture of our easy and efficient automated engineering analysis simulator, related techniques and result of development.

The present paper deals with estimation of zooplankton production in the South Sea of Korea based on the plankton data of the Annual Report of Oceanographic Observations, Fisheries Research and Development Agency, Korea during the period of seven years from 1967 through 1973. Net zooplankton biomass of the layer tipper 150 meters is calculated with an average of $70.2\;mg/m^3$ and gross production in the region $59,800\;km^2$ are about $5.14\~10.27\times10^6\;tons/year$. Mean zooplankton productivity is estimated $86\~172\;tons/km^2/year$.

The 11 th congress and general assembly of the International Federation for Information & Documentation/Commission for Asia & Oceania(FID/CAO) was held by the Center for Industrial and Technical Information from October 28 to November 1 1990 in Seoul. The theme of congress was national information policy. In this paper it is summarized each country report presented by 7 countries delegate : Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, People's Republic of China, Thailand, and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The content of national information policy and the structure of national information system as well as the mechanism to implement it may vary from country to country but the main objectives was similar to every nation. It is urged that the government should formulate a national information policy and ensure the implementation of policy with coorporation of institutions related to information activities.

Purpose - This study examined the Italian eyeglass industry and the status of the franchise market. Luxottica's global growth strategy was analyzed to provide insight into the strategy and development of the Italian eyeglass industry and its franchise business. Research design, data, methodology - Luxottica's annual report, public media material, and website were examined, in addition to data from professional institutions. For the domestic eyeglass industry and franchise business, data from professional organizations, franchise information disclosure documents of the Fair Trading Commission, media materials, and related papers were investigated. Results - The success factor turned out to be securing a global wholesaler with retailers in overseas markets. This successful strategy was based on the strong entrepreneurial spirit of the founder, innovative craftsmanship, and an excellent corporate culture including corporate social responsibility (CSR). Conclusions - Considering the current environment, for Luxottica to be a leading global company, it had to review and adopt a successful vertical integration strategy, from R&D to distribution, M&A of overseas wholesalers and retailers, creative design and technical development, and sustainable cultural development

Intravenous Patient Controlled Analgesia (IV PCA0 after general or spinal anesthesia may be a method of postoperative pain control, but side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and sedation occurs in most patients. The following research is based on the ultrasound guided femorosciatic nerve block held on parts below the knee joint operation. Because this anesthesia is held locally on the sciatic nerve with continuous anesthesia performed through perineural catheterization, the complications of nausea, vomiting, and sedation may be reduced while postoperative pain caused by the sciatic nerve is controlled. The following report is held on this experience.

Purpose: Introduction of the mammary implant through the abdominal route has been well known since late 1960s, but the use of transabdominal route for contralateral breast augmentation in transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap breast reconstruction patients has not been reported in Korean literature. The authors report their experience with technical points as well as the selection of the appropriate patients. Methods: Simultaneous contralateral augmentation mammaplasty through transabdominal route was performed in 11 patients who underwent TRAM breast reconstruction from August 2003 to May 2008 with a mean follow up of 27 months. The pocket was created under direct vision: 3 subglandular, 7 subpectoral, and 1 dual plane was dissected. Eight saline and 3 silicone gel implants were used with an average volume of 165 cc. Results: There were no complications such as infection, hematoma, implant displacement, and capsular contracture. The result was well maintained throughout the follow up period. Conclusion: Transabdominal route could be recommended in selected patients for contralateral augmentation in TRAM breast reconstruction.

This technical report is to introduce the paper which was presented in the 2011 ISRM Congress at Beijing by Prof. Edwin T. Brown. In commemoration of the fiftieth year of the life of ISRM, the emergence of rock mechanics as a distinctive engineering and scientific discipline is described. And the state and achievements of the discipline at the time the ISRM was founded in 1962, the events leading up to the formation of the Society, the development and achievements of the Society in the 50 years since 1962, and the progress made in the discipline of rock mechanics and rock engineering since that time are also discussed.

This report describes recent advances in tissue culture and genetic transformation of commercial Phalaenopsis. Recently, an importance of Phalaenopsis has been increased due to its popularity with beautiful flowers and is widely used for pot plants as well as cut-flower. Its use is rapidly enlarging in worldwide. Thus, demands for the release of new elite cultivars in Phalaenopsis have been increased. During the last several decades, some critical progresses have been made in tissue culture and genetic transformation in Phalaenopsis species. Cooperation with these biotechnological methods are supposed to promote the release of commercial Phalaenopsis cultivars in the near future. Until now, no technical review on tissue culture and genetic transformation in Phalaenopsis has been reported in Korea. Therefore, we inquired the brief history and techniques of tissue culture system in Korea.
