  • The rupture of the aorta commonly follows major blunt trauma to the thorax. It has markedly increased in recent years, paralleling the rising number of vehicular accidents. The most frequent site of rupture is the area of the isthmus, with the ascending aorta second. The diagnosis of the condition from clinical data is difficult, and aortography is used whenever aortic tear is suspected. We are presenting a case of patient who had intimal tearing of the thoracic aorta with multiple injuries. The patient underwent surgical repair 28 days after injury with left heart [LA-Femoral artery] bypass.

A Study of strength properties of Deinked pulp according to deinking agents (탈묵제에 따른 탈묵 펄프의 강도적 성질에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents the second part of a study of deinking using wort. Physical properties of deinked pulps such as tensile strength, bursting strength and tearing resistance were investigated. In order to analyze the properties, the fiber length and coarseness of deinked pulp was also measured. Results of deinking experiments showed that the deinking efficiency of enzyme treatments was higher than that of chemical treatments in strength properties such as tensile strength, bursting strength and tearing resistance on the the whole. we think that the reason why is that the fiber length and coarseness of deinked pulp with wort are more increased and decreased than those of deinked pulp with chemicals individually.

  • To Save energy and cost one bath/one step dyeing and finishing on cotton/polyester blends is carried out with disperse dyes in the presence of crosslinking agent. Cotton 100 %, cotton/polyester 70/30, 50/50, 35/65, polyester 100 % fabrics were used. wrinkle recovery angle, tensile strength retention and tearing strength retention were determined in according to the dyebath composition, and also determined while the concentration of DMDHEU, molecular weight and concentration of PEG were varied. Colorfastness to abrasion, washing and light were tested. For cotton and cotton/polyester blends dyed in the presence of DMDHEU/PEG, wrinkle recovery was improved. Tensile strength retention and tearing strength retention were decreased, in compared with dyed fabrics without DMDHEU. Colorfastness to abrasion was good but colorfastness to washing and to light were poor for the fabrics dyed in the presence of DMDHEU/PEG.

Remote Cerebellar Hemorrhage after Lumbar Spinal Surgery

  • Remote cerebellar hemorrhage (RCH) is rare but potentially lethal as a complication of spinal surgery. We recently experienced a case of RCH in a 61-year-old man who showed mental deterioration after lumbar spinal surgery. There was dural tearing with subsequent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) loss during the surgery. Brain computed tomography scan revealed cerebellar hemorrhage, 3rd and 4th ventricular hemorrhage and pneumocephalus. He underwent suboccipital craniectomy and hematoma removal. The most important pathomechanism leading to RCH after spinal surgery has been known to be venous bleeding due to caudal sagging of cerebellum by rapid leak of large amount of CSF which seems to be related with this case. Dural repair and minimizing CSF loss after intraoperative dural tearing would be helpful to prevent postoperative RCH.

After-treatment of Jumchi Technique for using Dakji as Clothing Material (닥지의 의류소재 활용을 위한 줌치기법의 후처리)

  • This study examied ned physical properties and surface characteristics of papers post-processed by Jumchi technique and stainability of extract from Amur Cork-Tree to use Dakji as clothing material. Then, it found the following results. After-treatment by Amorphophalus konjac K. Koch and persimmon juice showed stronger tensile strength and tearing strength than untreated samples and the drape stiffness was substantially increased. After-treatment by persimmon juice generated dyeing effects as well as excellent tensile strength and tearing strength all samples were generally dyed well by Amur Cork-Tree, While the untreated samples did not show any significant effects in dyeing for more than 5 minutes. It was found that after-treatment substantially contributed on concentration of dyeing as dyeing amounts of post-processed samples were gradually increased as time increased. After-treated sample with agar did not show any significant differences from untreated sample. Accordingly, it has to be studied further.

  • The Aerospace and automobile industries have need to avoid sheet-metal forming problem such as incorrect springback after forming and trimming process, excessive thinning/tearing, wrinking/perkering. It is common practice to use costly trial-and-error experimental methods to develop tooling and manufacturing process parameters. Experimentation should be complemented with computer simulation to reduce cost and leadtime in manufacturing and to influence the design of components. In this study, firstly we solved the springback problem after drawing and trimming process of KFP(F100-229) engine airsealing bearing support part(53H00) forming and studied on the effect of several process parameters on the gap between the formed blank and punch shape using the implicit F.E.M code(ABAQUS). Secondly by the three dimensional dynamic analysis using the explicit. F. E. M code (LS-DYNA3D), we studied on the effect of several process parameters which can be used for avoid tearing and wrinking during the drawing process.

  • The Sundt encircling clip was developed to repair defects of the vessel wall. With the advent of microvascular techniques, most parts of the damaged vessel wall during aneurysm surgery can be repaired by primary closure or by the bypass technique. However, these methods are not always successful. Here, we illustrate two cases of surgical clipping with the Sundt encircling clip in the ruptured internal carotid artery trunk aneurysm. The Sundt clip provides prompt control of unexpected tearing of the vessel wall or aneurysm and plays an important role in vascular rescue during aneurysm surgery.

  • The NAUT(Non contact Air coupled Ultrasonic Testing) is one of the ultrasonic wave inspection methods. It compensates High power ultrasound Pulser Receiver, pre-amp, air probe of high sensitivity in air to generate loss energy by NAUT methods. Generally, in case of ultrasound inspection, it applies contact methods by using couplant. However it can inspect of UT without couplant by this NAUT. The ultrasound transmission reception is composed in stable condition in NAUT. It can inspect high low material or the specimen of rough part, the narrow spot, too. The spot welding is applying the inosculation of automobile component, car body, all boards. The CFRP is necessity of NDE because of the solidity changes material according to lamella tearing. Therefore it checked on realization whether and commercialization in the spot welding and CFRP inspection that the NAUT would be applied them.

Variation of some Properties on Contton Knitted Under Wears by Laundering (세탁에 의한 면내의의 실용특성 변화)

  • In order to measure the change of constructional and some properties of knitted under wears by laundry, constructional properties, such as fabric count , yarn count, loop length and cover, factor, and some properties , such as shrinkage, tearing, strength, air permeability, electrostatic charge of under wears sold in the market were tested. The results of the experiment can be summarized as follows.1. Interlock and rib were increased in wale direction after laundry and decreased in course direction , plain was decreased, in both direction after laundry. 2. Loop form of plain was changed more than those interlock and rib after laundry. 3. Tearing strength was decreased 51% in wale direction, and 70% in course direction after 20 times laundry. Air permeability was generally increased. 4. Electro static charge was increased 9 times after laundry.
