Crime hotspot prediction based on dynamic spatial analysis

  • Crime is not a completely random event but rather shows a pattern in space and time. Capturing the dynamic nature of crime patterns is a challenging task. Crime prediction models that rely only on neighborhood influence and demographic features might not be able to capture the dynamics of crime patterns, as demographic data collection does not occur frequently and is static. This work proposes a novel approach for crime count and hotspot prediction to capture the dynamic nature of crime patterns using taxi data along with historical crime and demographic data. The proposed approach predicts crime events in spatial units and classifies each of them into a hotspot category based on the number of crime events. Four models are proposed, which consider different covariates to select a set of independent variables. The experimental results show that the proposed combined subset model (CSM), in which static and dynamic aspects of crime are combined by employing the taxi dataset, is more accurate than the other models presented in this study.

  • It is essential that is the collection of more accurate data to provide reliable traffic information. Currently collection of traffic information which uses the taxi or the passenger car by the probe vehicle is low reliability. If it develops the model which estimates car travel-time by using bus travel-time, it means that the sheep or duality of information using the passenger car and the taxi by the probe vehicle than will improve. Consequently the research which develops to each situation in accordance withtraffic volume and bus whole aspect car execution yes or no and bus stand form.

Development and Effects of Smartphone App-Based Walking Exercise Program for Taxi Drivers: Based on Bandura's Self Efficacy Theory (택시 운전자들을 위한 스마트폰 앱 기반 걷기운동 프로그램 개발 및 효과: Bandura의 자기효능이론을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of smart-phone app-based walking exercise programs for taxi drivers on self-efficacy and outcome expectations for exercise, health-related quality of life, walking as an exercise, and physiological indexes. Methods: A nonequivalent control group with a pre-post-test design was used. The subjects were recruited in G metropolitan city. Subjects were assigned to the experimental (n=31) or control groups (n=30). The smart phone app-based walking exercise program consisted of educations via the app, twelve short message services, and one individual telephone counseling session, which was spread over 12 weeks. Results: Self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and health-related quality of life had significantly higher pre-post test differences in scores in the experimental group. Additionally, blood pressure, body mass index, and waist circumference had significantly decreased prepost-test difference levels in the experimental group. Walking as an exercise (which consisted of days walked, number of steps walked, and amount of time walked) had significantly increased in the experimental group after 7~12 weeks in the period following the intervention program rather than 1~6 weeks after the program. Conclusion: The smart phone app-based walking exercise program based on the self-efficacy theory demonstrates a significant effect on improving self-efficacy, outcome expectations physical activities, and health-related quality of life for taxi drivers. Therefore, it is recommended to actively use the program as a tool to promote self-efficacy, physical activities, and health behaviors in taxi drivers.

Vertiport Location Problem to Maximize Utilization Rate for Air Taxi (에어 택시 이용률 최대화를 위한 수직이착륙장 위치 결정 문제)

  • This paper deals with the operation of air taxis, which is one of the latest innovative technologies aimed at solving the issue of traffic congestion in cities. A key challenge for the successful introduction of the technology and efficient operation is a vertiport location problem. This paper employs a discrete choice model to calculate choice probabilities of transportation modes for each route, taking into account factors such as cost and travel time associated with different modes. Based on this probability, a mathematical formulation to maximize the utilization rate for air taxi is proposed. However, the proposed model is NP-hard, effective and efficient solution methodology is required. Compared to previous studies that simply proposed the optimization models, this study presents a solution methodology using the cross-entropy algorithm and confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorith through numerical experiments. In addition to the academic excellence of the algorithm, it suggests that decision-making that considers actual data and air taxi utilization plans can increase the practial usability.

Spatial experience based route finding using ontologies

  • Spatial experiences in route finding, such as the ability of finding low-traffic routes, exert a significant influence on travel time in big cities; therefore, the spatial experiences of seasoned individuals such as taxi drivers in route finding can be useful for improving route-finding algorithms and preventing using routes having considerable traffic. In this regard, a spatial experience-based route-finding algorithm is introduced through ontology in this paper. To this end, different methods of modeling experiences are investigated. Then, a modeling method is chosen for modeling the experiences of drivers for route finding depending on the advantages of ontology, and an ontology based on the taxi drivers' experiences is proposed. This ontology is employed to create an ontology-based route-finding algorithm. The results are compared with those of Google maps in terms of route length and travel time at peak traffic time. According to the results, although the route lengths of route-finding method based on the ontology of drivers' experiences in three cases (from nine cases) are greater than that based on Google maps, the travel times are shorter in most cases, and in some routes, the difference in travel time reaches only 10 minutes.

Development and Evaluation of Cardiocerebrovascular Disease Prevention Program for Taxi Drivers (택시 운전자를 위한 심뇌혈관질환 예방 프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to development and evaluate the effects of cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention program for taxi drivers on physiological variables(blood pressure, blood sugar, serum lipids) and physical variables(body fat, muscle endurance, cardiopulmonary endurance, balance). This study consisted of two phases: developing the program and evaluating its effectiveness. 1 phase, 321 taxi drivers investigated a health condition and a life habit and an educational need and developed a program with the ground which will reach. 2 phases, The effectiveness of the program was tested in October 2011, with 51 taxi driver. The experimental group was given 12 weeks period exercise 1 weeks 3 time, disease education 4 time, 2 nutrition consultations. Although there was no significant reduction in blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar, serum lipids, there were statistically significant increases in muscle endurance (t=-7.62 p<.001), cardiopulmonary endurance (t=-3.39, p<.001), balance(t=-4.13, p<.001) and decreased body fat (t= -3.11, p<.015) in before compared to after. These findings suggest that an integrated cardiocerebro-vascular disease prevention program improves physical fitness.

Development of Queue Length, Link Travel Time Estimation and Traffic Condition Decision Algorithm using Taxi GPS Data (택시 GPS데이터를 활용한 대기차량길이, 링크통행시간 추정 및 교통상황판단 알고리즘 개발)

  • As the part of study which handles the measure to use the individual vehicle information of taxi GPS data on signal controls in order to overcome the limitation of Loop detector-based collecting methods of real-time signal control system, this paper conducted series of evaluations and improvements on link travel time, queue vehicle time estimates and traffic condition decision algorithm from the research introduced in 2016. considering the control group and the other, the link travel time has enhanced the travel time and the length of queue vehicle has enhanced the estimated model taking account of the traffic situation. It is analyzed that the accuracy of the average link travel time and the length of queue vehicle are respectably both approximately 95 % and 85%. The traffic condition decision algorithm reflected the improved travel speed and vehicle length. Smoothing was performed to determine the trend of the traffic situation and reduce the fluctuation of the data, and the algorithms have refined so as to reflect the pass period on overflow judgment criterion.

  • This paper describes modeling process to obtain precise landing gear model which is necessary to design a control law for ground auto-taxi, auto take-off/landing of UAV. In this paper, landing gear side force modeling is studied to complete a landing gear model of UAV. Side force modeling is performed by calculating cornering angle including steering angle. And ground directional controller is designed by using nose wheel steering and rudder steering at the same time to control course angle error. Accuracy of landing gear side force modeling and ground directional controller is proved by comparing of auto-taxi test results with simulation results.

  • According to the development of service industry recently, the use of call taxi service is increased to use a taxi more comfortably. But related firms hesitate to construct a call center on account of enormous expense of constructing. Hence we developed the system that can minimize expense of constructing a call center which use a cellular phone. The proposed system is different from the existing call system of using a terminal method. we designed by applying UML(Unified Modeling Language) the system that can integrate and manage operations of customer management, driver management, order management and settlement of accounts etc. more efficiently using CTI(Computer Telephony Integration). Then the designed system is constructed by using Visual Basic 6.0. For implementing CTI more effectively, calling number of customer is received in PC using CID that is commercialized and then the customer's information is retrieved in the Database in real-time. The system proposed in this paper is possible to construct at low expense, can improve customer service level through an efficient customer management solution.

Utilization of AeroMACS Infrastructure for Airports and Airlines (공항 및 항공사를 위한 AeroMACS 인프라 활용 연구)

  • AeroMACS spectrum is a national resource internationally allocated by ITU at WRC-07. AeroMACS is an airport broadband mobile communication infrastructure based on WiMAX-based IEEE 802.16e that enables real-time video, graphics, voice, and high-speed data transmission. With the approval of ICAO's development technology standards in 2008, 50 airports in 11 countries have already completed the testing of D-TAXI or A-SMGCS technology using the AeroMACS infrastructure in 2019, starting in the United States in 2009. With many advantages in safety and convenience in terrestrial telecommunications operations, the system is becoming an area of performance improvement for airport operations in accordance with ICAO's ASBU plan. This paper examines the current status of domestic development of AeroMACS and lists service areas applicable to airlines and operators. It also seeks to promote safe and efficient next-generation airport mobile communication system services by presenting feasible partners management in the mobile area and use of aircraft communication systems for active technology development.
