  • An Intelligent service robot performs various complex tasks in dynamic environment, providing useful intelligent services for human users. The robot needs to continuously monitor dynamically changing environment and reactively choose the best behavior for the changing context. The selected behaviors may include nondeterministic or parallel actions. In this paper, we present a structured reactive robot programming language, SPRIT that is based on Structured Circuit Semantics (SCS). SPRIT is fully implemented as a task executor and tested for reactive robot tasks in dynamic environment to show that it can be used to explicitly represent and effectively implement the complex reactive behaviors of intelligent robot systems.

  • While the use of battery-powered embedded systems has been rapidly increasing, the current level of battery technology has not kept up with the drastic increase in power consumption by the system. In order to prolong system usage time, the battery size needs to be increased. The amounts of power consumption by embedded systems are determined by their hardware configuration and software for manipulating hardware resources. In spite of that, the hardware provides features for lowering power consumption, if those cannot be utilized efficiently by software including operating system, reduction in power consumption is not optimized. In this paper, we propose a BET(Break Even Time)-based scheduling method using task partition to reduce power consumption of multimedia applications in a mobile embedded system environment.

  • Due to the strict requirements of emerging applications, per-flow admission control is gaining increasing importance. One way to implement per-flow admission control is using an onpath resource reservation protocol, where the admission decision is made hop-by-hop after a new flow request arrives at the network boundary. The next-steps in signaling (NSIS) working group of the Internet engineering task force (IETF) is standardising such an on-path signaling protocol. One of the reservation methods considered by NSIS is reduced-state mode, which, suiting the differentiated service (DiffServ) concept, only allows per-class states in interior nodes of a domain. Although there are clear benefits of not dealing with per-flow states in interior nodes-like scalability and low complexity-, without per-flow states the handling of re-routed flows, e.g., after a failure, is a demanding and highly non-trivial task. To be applied in carrier-grade networks, the protocol needs to be resilient in this situation. In this article, we will explain the consequences of a route failover to resource reservation protocols: Severe congestion and incorrect admission decisions due to outdated reservation states. We will set requirements that handling solutions need to fulfill, and we propose extensions to reduced-state protocols accordingly. We show with a set of simulated scenarios that with the given solutions reduced-state protocols can handle re-routed flows practically as fast and robust as stateful protocols.

  • In the process of industralization, Korea rural aged have played great role. By investing, educating, and supporting their brothers and children, rural aged transferred their economic surplus to non agricultural fields and urban areas. But they did not prepare for their old age. So in every agricultural policy implementation, special concern should be taken to rural aged. The rural home extension should be the major institution for the rural aged. This paper was carried out to find the direction and the policy task of rural guidance project for rural aged. This paper suggested the needs of support for the aged in family, economic status and income, and leisure. To support the aged in family, the rural home extension should teach them how to make good relationship between Mother-in-law and daughter in law and special support to families which composed of only rural aged(no children). The rural home extension program should provide special policy for job opportunity creation for the rural aged. The rural home extension should also make educational programs for useful utilization of leisure time of rural aged. The rural home extension should make major roles in rural aged related policy. So rural home extension workers are well trained in gerontology and more related information should be provided.

  • A grid computing consists of the physical resources for processing one of the large-scale jobs. However, due to the recent trends of rapid growing data, the grid computing needs a parallel processing method to process the job. In general, each physical resource divides a requested large-scale task. And a processing time of the task varies with an efficiency and a distance of each resource. Even if some resource completes a job, the resource is standing by until every divided job is finished. When every resource finishes a processing, each resource starts a next job. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic resource reallocation scheduling model (DDRSM). DDRSM finds a waiting resource and reallocates an unfinished job with an efficiency and a distance of the resource. DDRSM is an efficient method for processing multiple large-scale jobs.

  • According to rapid growth of web environment, user interface design needs to support the complex interactions between human and computer. In the paper we suggest the object modeling method for Qualify Improvement of User Interface. We propose the 4 business event's object modeling phases such as business event object modeling, task object modeling, transaction object modeling, and form object modeling to enhance visual cohesion of UI. As a result, this 4 phases in this paper allows us to enhance visual cohesion of User Interface prototype. We have found that the visual cohesion of business events become strong and unskilled designer can develope the qualified user interface prototype. And it also improves understanding of business task and reduces prototype system development iteration.

  • Many axial fans have circular arc blades with constant thickness. It is still a challenging task to calculate their performance, i.e. to predict how large their pressure rise and pressure losses are. For this task a need for cascade data exists. Therefore, the designer needs a method which works quickly for design purposes. In the present contribution a design method for such cascades consisting of circular arc blades with constant thickness is described. It is based on a singularity method which is combined with a CFD-data-based flow loss model. The flow loss model uses CFD-data to predict the total pressure losses. An interpolation method for the CFD-data are applied and described in detail. Data of measurements are used to validate the CFD-data and parameter variations are conducted. The parameter variations include the variation of the camber angle, pitch chord ratio and the Reynolds number. Additionally, flow patterns of two dimensional cascades consisting of circular arc blades with constant thickness are shown.

  • This paper proposes a design methodology of self-reconfigurable kinematics and control engine for modular and reconfigurable robots. A modular manipulator has been proposed to meet the requirement of task adaptation in versatile needs for service and industrial robot area and the function of self-reconfiguration is required to extend the application of modular robots. Kinematic and dynamic contexts are extracted from the module and assembly information and related codes are automatically generated including controller. Thus a user can easily build and use a modular robot without professional knowledge. Simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • The high commitment of a revenue officer makes to raise efficiency, can be directly related to task result and validity. The fundamental process through trust in superior, consisting the core of tax execution, needs to be studied significantly. This study is proposed to verify the practical influence of trust in superior with respect to productivity, participation in decision-making, and concentration. These factors are important prerequisites with respect to task processing of a tax revenue officer. As the result of analysis, the more trust in superior effects on the statue of productivity, participation in decision-making and concentration. It is the proof that the trust in superior procedure contributes in the aspects of productivity, participation in decision-making and concentration through the process of encouraging organizational validity.

  • In recent years, work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are one of major issues in occupational safety and health in Korea, since the number of injured workers has rapidly increased and the related regulation was amended to improve the work conditions. Main risk factors of WMSDs in Korean industries include manual handling of heavy weight loads, awkward postures, repetitive tasks, prolonged static muscle contraction, and so on. in this article, some ergonomics case studies for identifying the risk factors of WMSDs and far their prevention were introduced. They include a biomechanical analysis for the heavy-weight handling task in a machine-repair shop, physiological evaluation of backpack-carrying tasks in a beverage delivery job, and a set of psychophysical studies to evaluate static-postural load. These studies showed that there are several different ergonomic approaches to identifying and evaluating risk factors of WMSDs and to eliminating them or reducing their levels, and that it is important to select proper methods and apply them in improving the work conditions according to the characteristics of the task. In addition, it needs to develop practical and effective ergonomic tools to prevent WMSDs and to provide these tools to the safety managers in the field so that they can improve the tasks by themselves.
