  • With the progress in process automation, it becomes necessary that a robot should have various sophisticated capabilities. A robot programming language is a tool that can give a robot such capabilities without any change in robot architecture. Especially a task level automatic programming system enables a robot able to perform a job intelligently. Therefore anyone who is not an expert on welding or robot programming can easily use it. In this research, basic automatic welding program is combined with workspace information, which makes users do an arc welding job automatically.

  • The subject on office automation is gradually gaining more improtance due to the fact that the efficiency of office systems contribute to the increase of productivity as much as manufactoring systems themselves. For successful implementation of office automation, one must carefully plan and execute various steps such as the analysis of office tasks, personnel training, workplace design, equipment design, and so on. The previous studies related to the subject has not been concrete enough to be practically helpful for the actual realization of office automation. In this paper, a new analysis method of the office task is proposed. This analysis method is based on the Rasmussen's and Bennette's methods. The Rasmussen's method describes a way of quantifying mental workload while the Bennette's method provides a tool for the analysis of the office task. The posner's and Rouse's methods are also employed for the detailed division of tasks. The method proposed in this paper is believed to be easier for use and expected to be more helpful for us to cope with the clear definition of office tasks that is vital to successful implementation of office automation.

  • Since most of the industries have adopted automation system, the industrial disaster has been declined sharply. Also automation system has offered many benefits such as productivity and assured quality. However, the construction industry is still relying on man power and because of this there are many victims occurring due to the industrial disaster. Construction industry has to overcome uncertainty of incidents and changing natural surroundings to actualize automation. Therefore, the efficient working plan and intelligent decision making process are needed to run more developed techniques and automations. Specially to decline the rate of industrial accidents occurred in basic construction in earth work, the automation via excavator is necessary and also the development of planning process system is too. This research is to establish Task Planning System to prevent disaster which is used for planning automated earth work.

SHERPA기법을 이용한 항공기 착륙상황에서 발생 가능한 인적오류 예측 (Predicting Human Errors in Landing Situations of Aircraft by Using SHERPA)

  • This study aims to examine probable human errors when landing an airplane by the use of SHERPA(systematic human error reduction and prediction approach) and propose methods for preventing the predictive human errors. It has been reported that human errors are concerned with a lot of accidents or incidents of an airplane. It is significant to predict presumable human errors, particularly in the operation mode of human-automation interaction, and attempt to reduce the likelihood of predicted human error. By referring to task procedures and interviewing domain experts, we analyzed airplane landing task by using HTA(hierarchical task analysis) method. In total, 6 sub-tasks and 19 operations were identified from the task analysis. SHERPA method was used for predicting probable human error types for each task. As a result, we identified 31 human errors and predicted their occurrence probability and criticality. Based on them, we suggested a set of methods for minimizing the probability of the predicted human errors. From this study, it can be said that SHERPA can be effectively used for predicting probable human error types in the context of human-automation interaction needed for navigating an airplane.

  • Sub-assembly in ship manufacturing is a sequence of filet joint welding of stiffeners on metal panels and the process is different depending on companies. In this paper, we introduce a new intelligent robotic system of the sub-assembly process in Samsung Heavy Industry, where one shift of 22m * 9m workspace includes one to ten panels and each panel includes up to 10 stiffeners. The inherent problems such as several hundreds of different panels, unstructured task environment and the large scale do not allow a fixed automation, but needs highly intelligent versatile automation. The robotic system is composed of four 14DOF macro-mini robots and a task recognition system. Application of this system has verified the task specification such as low temperature environment(-10.deg. C) and productivity is satisfied successfully.

  • Fieldbus provides real-time data communication among field devices in the process control and manufacturing automation systems. This paper presents an implementation method of Profibus in the experimental model of manufacturing automation system. The manufacturing automation system considered in this paper consists of robots, NC machines, sensors, conveyers and PCs. The application task programs are developed on the basis of FMS/FMA7 communication services which are provided by Profibus application layer. The communication and application programs are developed in the real-time environment.

  • 최근 관리가 필요한 장소에 다양한 센서들을 활용하여 자동화 환경을 제공하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존 자동화 시스템 환경에서는 측정된 센서 데이터를 서버 내에서 일괄로 처리하기 때문에 현재 동작중인 작업보다 우선적으로 동작해야 하는 작업이 발생하면 작업 간 충돌이 발생하는 문제점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 센서 데이터 식별 알고리즘을 활용하여 자동화를 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다. 알고리즘을 통해 실시간성과 비 실시간성 작업을 구분하고 이에 해당하는 우선순위를 적용하여 발생하는 작업을 자동 제어한다. 이를 통해 관리자의 개입은 줄이면서 불필요한 작업 동작과 전력 소비는 감소시키고 효율적인 자동화 환경을 구성할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

의류업체의 생산자동화: 기업상황과 생산성과와의 관계 (Automation in Apparel Manufacturing: The Relationship with Company Context and Manufacturing Performance)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine: 1) the differences in the automation level by company characteristics(i.e., product category, product type, firm size); 2) the effects of company context(i.e., environmental uncertainty, task uncertainty) on the automation level; and 3) the effect of the automation level on manufacturing performance(i.e., quality, flexibility, time, cost). Data were collected from a mail survey. Four hundred eighty two questionaries were mailed to apparel manufacturers nationwide, and 60 responses were analyzed. The results revealed that: 1) mens and womens wear manufacturers and large manufacturers(i.e., the number of employees, sales volume) showed higher automation level; 2) environmental complexity positively affected the automation level; and 3) the automation level had a positive effect only on quality performance.

복수의 양팔로봇을 적용한 휴대폰 셀 생산시스템의 자동화 (Automation of Cell Production System for Cellular Phones based on Multi-dual-arm Robots)

  • Demands for automation in the cell production process of IT products are becoming increasingly sophisticated. In particular, the dual-arm robot has drawn attention as a solution because it has a flexibility and works similarly to humans. In this paper, we propose an automation system for cellular phone packing processes using two dual-arm robots. Applied robots are designed with specifications to meet the requirements of cellular phone packing jobs. In addition, a robotic cell production system is proposed by applying a method of task allocation for efficient packing of cellular phones. Specifically, a task is assigned to reduce takt-time and to avoid collision between two robots. Finally, we discuss some experimental results that include the packing job of five unit boxes with seven kinds of accessories.

  • In this paper, merits of both fuzzy and PID controllers are combined. The combined controller is designed such that the tuning of the PID controller is achieved by the basic fuzzy controller via its rule base. The proposed scheme avoids the tuning of PID parameters which is always a time consuming task, difficult to carry out and often poorly done. Computer simulations are made to demonstrate the satisfactory tracking performance of the combined fuzzy-PID controller.
