This paper proposes the practical echo-signal synthesis models - UTAHID (Underwater TArget by Highlight Distribution) & M-UTAHID(Modified UTAHID) - of underwater target for active sonar engineering At high frequencies all the echo components that are the specular reflected waves and various elastic scattering wave scan be regarded the summation of individual echo from some equivalent scattering centers, so the underwater target is characterized by highlights distributed in spatial target structure. Proposed models are compared with characteristics of random distributed model & equivalent interval highlight model, and analyzed target strength, echo-elongation effect, target time spread loss and so on. Thus these can be efficiently used in various real systems related to underwater target echo-signal synthesis on active sonar and acoustic countermeasure.

The target localization using the line arrays buried in the seabed is a difficult problem due to the complex sea bottom characteristics and need to compensate the wave propagation effect to localize the target accurately Sound speed mismatch in the seabed causes a bias in the target bearing estimation and induces the localization error. In this paper we describe a target localization method with improved accuracy of target bearing and localization by calibration the sound speed in the seabed. The proposed algorithm is verified through the ocean data.

In the moving target problem, the velocity information of the moving target is very important as well as the high accuracy position information. To solve this problem, active researches are being conducted recently with combine the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) and Frequency Delay of Arrival(FDOA) measurements. However, since the FDOA measurement is utilizing the Doppler effect due to the relative velocity between the target source and the receiver sensor, it may be difficult to use the FDOA measurement if the moving target speed is not sufficiently fast. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the position and the velocities of the target by using only the TDOA measurements for the low speed moving target in the indoor environment with sensor network. First, the target position and heading angle are obtained from the estimated positions of two attached transmitters on the target. Then, the target angular and linear velocities are also estimated. In addtion, we apply the Instrumental Variable (IV) technique to compensate the estimation error of the estimated target velocity. In simulation, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified.

Background: Clinical use of propofol along with remifentanil for intravenous sedation is increasing in these days, but there are not enough researches to evaluate proper target concentration when these drugs are infused by using target controlled infusion (TCI) pump in dental treatment cases. In this study, we compared efficacy of TCI conscious sedation and target concentration of propofol when it used with or without remifentanil during conscious sedation with the help of a TCI for the surgical extraction of impacted teeth. Methods: After IRB approval, all the charts of patients who had undergone surgical extraction of impacted teeth under propofol TCI sedation for 6 months were selected and reviewed for this study. After reviewal of charts, we could divide patients in two groups. In one group (group 1), only propofol was selected for sedation and initial effect site concentration of propofol was $1{\mu}g/ml$ (n = 33), and in another group (group 2), both propofol and remifentanil was infused and initial effect site concentration of each drug was $0.6{\mu}g/ml$ and 1 ng/ml respectively (n = 25). For each group, average propofol target concentration was measured. In addition, we compared heart rate, respiratory rate, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as oxygen saturation. Besides, BIS, sedation scores (OAAS/S), and subjective satisfaction scores were compared. Results: Between group 1 and 2, there were no significant differences in demographics (age, weight and height), and total sedation time. However, total infused dose and the effect site target concentration of propofol was $163.8{\pm}74.5mg$ and $1.13{\pm}0.21{\mu}g/ml$ in group 1, and $104.3{\pm}46.5mg$ and $0.72{\pm}0.26{\mu}g/ml$ in the group 2 with $1.02{\pm}0.21ng/l$ of the effect site target concentration of remifentanil, respectively. During sedation, there were no differences between overall vital sign, BIS and OAAS/S in 2 groups (P > 0.05). However, we figured out patients in group 2 had decreased pain sensation during sedation. Conclusions: Co-administration of propofol along with remifentanil via a TCI for the surgical extraction of impacted teeth may be safe and effective compared to propofol only administration.
Transcription factor GATA-3 is the critical transcription factor for Th2 cell differentiation. In spite of its importance in Th2 cell differentiation, the molecular mechanism for its action in Th2 differentiation is poorly understood. Previous studies have suggested that GATA-3 may be involved in the chromatin remodeling in the Th2 cytokine locus. To determine whether GATA-3 exerts its effect on its target sites in the extrachromosomal status, cell transfection assay was performed. In this assay, 800 bp IL4 promoter-luciferase constructs linked with GATA-3 target sites were transfected into the M12 B cell line, D10 mouse Th2 cell lines, and human T lymphoma Jurkat cell lines with or without the GATA-3 expression vector. The GATA-3 effects on its target sites were minimal in the extrachromosomal status, supporting the previous propositions that GATA-3 functions at the chromatin level by remodeling chromatin structure.
Biochemical methods were selected to evaluate the role of exopolymeric substances in the stability of biofilms used in bioremediation processes. Biofilms of Thiomonas arsenivorans formed on pozzolana were thus treated with pronase (protein target), lectins (Con A or PNA), calcofluor or periodic acid (polysaccharides target), DNase (DNA target), and lipase (triglycerides target). Neither protease nor DNase treatments had any effect on bacterial adhesion. Lectins and calcofluor treatments mainly affected young biofilms. Lipase treatment had a noticeable effect on biofilm stability whatever the biofilm age. Results suggest that it would be an increased resistance of mature biofilms that protects them from external attacks.

Surface contacts between mold and target should be in parallel for the imprinting mechanism. However, the size of contacting area makes it difficult for both mating surfaces to be in all contact because of precision level of the imprinting machine and the waviness of mold and target. The gripping force for both mold and target with the vacuum chuck is also major effect to interrupt the full contact, which must be avoided in imprinting mechanism. In this study, the preliminary study for the causes of non-uniformity of contacting surfaces such as mold and target is performed with $470{\times}370mm^2$ LCD panel size.
Infrared (IR) seeker identifies the location of a target by detecting the infrared energy radiated from the target, and enables the missile to track the target. To improve the tracking performance, a counter- countermeasure (CCM) is essential to minimize the effect of the countermeasure (CM), which is operated by a target to protect itself. In this paper, we propose a crossed array tracker (CAT) using two-color CCM algorithm. The CAT using the proposed algorithm shows better tracking performance by minimizing the effect of CM.
Previous works for the AE(Assured Forwarding) service in the Diffserv network have no sufficient consideration on the fairness of bandwidth share based on the target rate and the effect or RTT and UDP. Also Previous works act like Best-effort service in the UPN(under-Provisioned Network) condition. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, we propose the PFDSA(Proportionally Fair Differentiated Service Architecture) composed of tmTRA3CM(tcp-microflow based Target rate and an Aware Three color Marking), um3CM(udp-microflow based Three color Marker), TRBD(Target Rate Based Dropper), and target rate adjusting function. In the results of comparing the performance among existing mechanisms and the PFDSA, the PFDSA was able to mitigate the RTT and UDP effect better than the former. The PFDSA was shown to provide good performance for transmission rates proportional to various target rates in the UPN condition.
A new recognition method is used to find the three-dimensional target object on integral imaging. For finding the location of a target image, amount of reconstructed reference image is needed. This method is giving accurate information of target image by correlated among reconstructed target images and reference images.
