Recently, shape analysis of human organs has achieved much attention, owing to its potential to localize structural abnormalities. For a group-wise shape analysis, it is important to accurately restore the shape of a target structure in each subject and to build the inter-subject shape correspondences. To accomplish this, we propose a shape modeling method based on the Laplacian deformation framework. We deform a template model of a target structure in the segmented images while restoring subject-specific shape features by using Laplacian surface representation. In order to build the inter-subject shape correspondences, we implemented the progressive weighting scheme for adaptively controlling the rigidity parameter of the deformable model. This weighting scheme helps to preserve the relative distance between each point in the template model as much as possible during model deformation. This area-preserving deformation allows each point of the template model to be located at an anatomically consistent position in the target structure. Another advantage of our method is its application to human organs of non-spherical topology. We present the experiments for evaluating the robustness of shape modeling against large variations in shape and size with the synthetic sets of the second cervical vertebrae (C2), which has a complex shape with holes.

LMO($LaMnO_3$) buffer layer of superconducting coated conductor was deposited on IBAD-MgO template in the plasma atmosphere at $650^{\circ}C$ which is relatively low compared with conventional deposition temperature of more than $800^{\circ}C$. Deposition method of LMO was DC sputtering, and target and deposition chamber were connected to the cathode and anode respectively. When DC voltage was applied between target and chamber, plasma was formed on the surface of target. The tape substrate was located with the distance of 10 cm between target and tape substrate. When anode bias was connected to the tape substrate, electrons were attracted from plasma in target surface to the tape substrate, and only tape substrate was heated by electron bombardment without heating any other zone. The effect of electron bombardment on the surface of substrate was investigated by increasing bias voltage to the substrate. We found out that the sample of electron bombardment had the effect of surface heating and had good texturing at low controlling temperature.

This paper presents a method to segment semiconductor wafer ID on poor quality images. The method is based on multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. If the lighting condition is not so good and hence, we can not control the image quality, target image to be inspected presents poor quality ID and it is not easy to identify and then recognize the ID characters. Conventional several method to segment the interesting ID regions fails on the bad quality images. In this paper, we propose a multiple template method, which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match several characters of the inspection images. To find out the optimal solution of multiple template model in ID regions, we introduce newly-developed snake algorithm. Experimental results using images from real FA environment are presented.

Visual tracking is a challenging task that needs learning an effective model to handle the changes of target appearance caused by factors such as pose variation, illumination change, occlusion and motion blur. In this paper, a novel tracking algorithm based on weighted local sub-space reconstruction error is presented. First, accounting for the appearance changes in the tracking process, a generative weight calculation method based on structural reconstruction error is proposed. Furthermore, a template update scheme of occlusion-aware is introduced, in which we reconstruct a new template instead of simply exploiting the best observation for template update. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm are verified by comparing it with some state-of-the-art algorithms quantitatively and qualitatively.

Road information is very important for topographic mapping, transportation application, urban planning and other related application fields. Therefore, automatic detection of road networks from spatial imagery, such as aerial photos and satellite imagery can play a central role in road information acquisition. In this paper, we use least squares correlation matching alone for road center tracking and show that it works. We assumed that (bright) road centerlines would be visible in the image. We further assumed that within a same road segment, there would be only small differences in brightness values. This algorithm works by defining a template around a user-given input point, which shall lie on a road centerline, and then by matching the template against the image along the orientation of the road under consideration. Once matching succeeds, new match proceeds by shifting a matched target window further along road orientation at the target window. By repeating the process above, we obtain a series of points, which lie on a road centerline successively. A 1m resolution IKONOS images over Seoul and Daejeon were used for tests. The results showed that this algorithm could extract road centerlines in any orientation and help in fast and exact he ad-up digitization/vectorization of cartographic images.
In this paper, we proposed a new object tracking algorithm based on sparse representation to handle the drifting problem. In APG-L1(accelerated proximal gradient) tracking, the sparse representation is applied to model the appearance of object using linear combination of target templates and trivial templates with proper coefficients. Also, the particle filter based on affine transformation matrix is applied to find the location of object and APG method is used to minimize the l1-norm of sparse representation. In this paper, we make use of the trivial template coefficients actively to block the drifting problem. We experiment the various videos with diverse challenges and the result shows better performance than others.
In this paper, an improved method is developed for automatic inspection system using simbology patterns. The developed method uses the two previously developed matching methods the template maching method and the feature matching method. The template matching method is very sensitive to variations of target images such as translation and rotation of objects. On the other hand, the feature matching method doesn't extract proper features in some types of symbology patterns. The proposed method shows the improvement of precision in recognition of defects and flexibility of different types of symbology patterns.
Chemerin receptor, which predominantly expressed in immune cells as well as adipose tissue, was found to stimulate chemotaxis of dendritic cells and macrophages to the site of inflammation. Chemerin is a widely distributed multifunctional secreted protein implicated in immune cell migration, adipogenesis, osteoblastogenesis, angiogenesis, myogenesis, and glucose homeostasis. Recent studies suggest chemerin may play an important role in the pathogenesis of obesity and insulin resistance and it becomes a potential therapeutic target for treating type II diabetes. The crystal structure of chemerin receptor has not yet been resolved. Therefore, in the present study, homology modelling of CMKLR1 was done utilizing the crystal structure of human angiotension receptor in complex with inverse agonist olmesartan as the template. Since the template has low sequence identity, we have incorporated both threading and comparative modelling approach to generate the three dimensional structure. 3D models were generated and validated. The reported models can be used to characterize the critical amino acid residues in the binding site of CMKLR1.
Urotensin-2 receptor (UTS2R) is the most potent vasoconstrictor and plays a major role in the pathophysiology of various cardiovascular diseases and becomes a potential target for human pharmacotherapy. The crystal structure of Urotension-2 receptor has not yet been resolved. Hence, in the current study homology modelling of UTS2R was done utilizing the crystal structure of human delta opioid receptor as the template. Since the template has low sequence identity, we have incorporated both comparative modelling and threading approach to generate the three dimensional structure. 10 models were generated and validated. The reported models can be used to characterize the critical amino acid residues in the binding site of UTS2R.

We designed a target management integration system that enables us to select the final target manually or automatically from seeker's sensor image. The integrated system was developed separately for the air vehicle system and the ground system. The air vehicle system simulates the motion dynamics and the sensor image of the air vehicle, and the ground system is composed of the target template image module and the ground control center module. The flight maneuver of the air vehicle is based on pseudo 6-degree of freedom motion equation and the proportional navigation guidance. The sensor image module was developed using the known infrared(IR) image rendering method, and was verified by comparing the rendered image to that of a commercial software. The ground control center module includes an user interface that can display as much information to meet user needs. Finally, we verified the integrated system with simulated impact target mission of the air vehicle, by confirming the final target change and the shot down result of the user's intervention.
