An Improvement on Target Costing Technique

  • The target costing technique, mathematically discussed by Sauers, only uses the $C_p index along with Taguchi loss function and $\bar{X}$-P control charts to setup goal control limits. The new specification limits derived from Taguchi loss function is linked through the $C_p value to $\bar{X}$-P control charts to obtain goal control limits. Studies have shown that the point estimator of the $C_p index, $C_p, could vary from time to time due to the sampling error. The suggested approach is to use confidence intervals, especially the lower confidence intervals, to replace the point estimator. Therefore, an improvement on target costing technique is presented by applying the lower confidence interval of the $C_p index and using both Taguchi and Spiring's loss functions together with $\bar{X}$-P charts to make this technique more robust in practice. An example is also provided to illustrate how the improved target costing technique works.

능동 보모델을 이용한 영상추적 알고리즘 (Visual Tracking Algorithm Using the Active Bar Models)

  • In this paper, we consider the problems of tracking an object in a real image. In evaluating these problems, we explore a new technique based on an active contour model commonly called a snake model, and propose the active bar models to represent target. Using this model, we simplified the target welection problems, reduced the search space of energy surface, and obtained the better performances than those of snake model. This approach improves the numerical stability and the tendency for points to bunch up and speed up the computational efficiency. Representing the object by active bar, we can easily obtain the zeroth, the first, and the second moment and it facilitates the target tracking. Finally, we present the good result for the visual tracking problem.

  • A measurement accuracy of theodolite system may be affected by a measurement environment, a measurement distance change and so on. This study was performed for measuring an accuracy when the height of scale bar is changed 0.05m, 0.5m, 1m and 1.5m under the distance 3m between two theodolites, the distance 4m from the theodolite system to scale bar and the distance 5m from the thodolite system to the horizontal target bar. And we could know that the best height is 0.05m and 1m.

  • The theodolite system consists of two theodolites, a scale bar and a target bu. A measurement accuracy of theodolite system is affected by a measurement distance of each equipment. This study was performed fir measuring an accuracy when the distance from theodolite to scale bar was changed 2~ 6 m on two theodolites distance 3 a The results showed thai the measurement accuracy could be $\pm$0.021 mm when the distance from theodolite to target was 2,3 and 6 n Specially, it was found that the maximum measurement accuracy was 10.017mm on theodolite collimation distance 3m and the distance 4 m of the theodolite and scale bar.

  • The affected factors for an accuracy of theodolite system are not only the measurement environment of temperature, illumination, etc. but also the measurement processes of the distance between two theodolites, the distance from theodolite system to scale bar and the distance from theodolite system to targets. We have known that the best collimation distance between two theodolites and the best distance from theodolite system to scale bar is $3{\sim}4m$. This study was performed for searching the best distance from theodolite system to targets on above measurement configuration. And, we could know that the best distance from theodolite system to targets is $2{\sim}6m$ and the system accuracy could be within ${\pm}0.025mm$.

A Modified Target Costing Technique to Improve Product Quality from Cost Consideration

  • The target costing technique, mathematically discussed by Sauers, only uses the $C_p$ index along with Taguchi loss function and ${\bar{X}}-R$ control charts to set up goal control limits. The new specification limits derived from Taguchi loss function is linked through the $C_p$ value to ${\bar{X}}-R$ control charts to obtain goal control limits. This study further considers the reflected normal loss function as well as the $C_{pk}$ index along with its lower confidence interval in forming goal control limits. With the use of lower confidence interval to replace the point estimator of the $C_{pk}$ index and reflected normal loss function proposed by Spiring to measure the loss to society, this modified and improved target costing technique would become more robust and applicable in practice. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate how this modified and improved target costing technique works.

  • The simulation of the ballistic trajectory of penetrator into the spaced multi-layer RC targets is very important to predict the hitting condition in subsequent target. Because of perturbation by lateral load of penetrator caused by asymmetric hitting position between penetrator and steel bar reinforcement, penetrator rotates and deviates from the straight path. Therefore, penetration capability of penetrator is decreased in the subsequent targets. This paper presents the result of the penetration of steel-bar-reinforced concrete target by using the explicit finite element code LS-DYNA. A series of computations is performed and compared to experimental data and the computed results are in good agreement with the experimental results over a wide range of velocities. And then we conduct the simulation according to various RC target hitting condition and impact velocities.

This study was performed for measuring an accuracy when the distance from thodolite system to scale bar was changed $2\~6m$ on the distance 4m between two theodolites. The results showed that an accuracy was ${\pm}0.025mm$ or better when the distance from theodolite system to targets was 3, 4 and 5m. According to the results, it was found that the best distance from theodolite system to scale bar was $3\~4m$ when the collimation distance was $3\~4m$.

  • In this paper, we developed visual tracking algorithm using double active bar. The active bar model to represent the object can reduce the search space of energy surface and better performance than those of snake model. However, the contour will not find global equilibrium when driving force caused by image may be weak. To overcome this problem. Double active bar is proposed for finding the global minimum point without any dependence on initialization. To achieve the goal, an deformable model with two initial contours in attempted to search for a global minimum within two specific initial contours. This approach improve the performance of finding the contour of target. To evaluate the performance, some experiments are executed. We can achieved the good result for tracking a object on noisy image.
