  • We studied absorbance of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses by Spectrophotometric method. Used lenses and tinted dye were CR-39 plastic optical lenses and Ons & $Lavas^{(R)}$ Blue, respectively. Absorbance values of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses were obtained from the differences of absorbance values between tinted lenses and CR-30 lenses. Average concentrations of tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses were obtained from the mass differences between tinted lenses and CR-30 lenses. The relationship between absorbance and average concentration for tinted dye absorbed into tinted lenses was also confirmed to follow Beer’s law. The absorption coefficient calculated from the tangent of the calibration curve was determined to be a=0.983 $Lg^{-1}cm^{-1}$.

  • An empirical relationship between parameters from SP curves and tensile properties has been systematically investigated by experimental tests and FEM simulations. A series of SP and tensile tests were performed. SP tests were also simulated by FE analysis with various tensile properties. It was found that the yield loads(Py) and the maximum loads( $P_{MAX}$) in SP curves were linearly related with the yield strength($\sigma$$_{o}$) and the tensile strength($\sigma$$_{UTS}$), respectively. The yield loads defined from the intersection point of two lines tangent to the elastic bending region and plastic bending region showed better relation to the yield strength than those from offset line. The maximum loads in SP curves showing plastic instability region was linearly related with the tensile strengths. The slope of SP curves in simulation results had a close correlation with the hardening coefficient and hardening strength as well.l.l.l.

  • In this paper, we proposed the design and calibration method for the near infrared Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter (AOTF). The theory and design principles of AOTF for the visible light are well known since I.C.Chang has developed the parallel tangent condition for the non-collinear AOTF. Deflection angle, frequency-wavelength relation, spectral resolution, etc. were calculated based on the theory of AOTF. From this result, important parameters - incident and acoustic angle - to fabricate AOTF were decided. We measured the spectral resolution and the relation between electrical driving frequency and the Optical wavelength of diffracted light to calibrate the near infrared AOTF. About 40 ∼ 80 MHz electrical frequency was required to get 1200 ∼ 2200 nm near infrared light. Spectral resolution was less than 10 nm in the near infrared region.

  • This paper describers a look ahead algorithm of PC-NC(personal computer numerical control). The algorithm is based on acceleration/deceleration before interpolation which doesn\`t include a command error and determines a feedrate value at the end point of each block(or start point of each block). The algorithm is represented as following; 1) calculating two maximum arrival feedrates(F$_1$,F$_2$) by an acceleration value, a command feedrate, and the distance of a NC block, 2) getting a tangent feedrate (F$_3$) of the adjacent blocks, 3) choosing a minimum value among these three feedrates, and 4) setting the value to a feedrate of a start point of the next block(or a end point of the previous block). The proposed look ahead algorithm was implemented and tested by using a commercial TROS(real time operation system) on the MS-Windows NT 4.0 in a PC platform. For interfacing to a machine, a counter board, a DAC board and a DIO board were used. The result of the algorithm increased a machining precision and a machining speed in many short blocks.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to improve the performance of the antenna system that contains three bands, such as Lte3G, WLAN and Lte4G. This antenna has an advantage that can cover the three different frequency bands 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz and 2.6GHz through one antenna design. The design and simulations are done using CST Microwave Studio 2014 program. The antenna is designed by using the FR-4 (lossy) substrate with the dielectric constant of er=4.3 and dielectric loss tangent 0.025. The substrate dimensions are the following; Thickness[h] is 1.6mm, Length is 90mm, and Width is 40mm. The ground is designed by using the PEC material with h=0.035mm. The patch is designed by using the copper with h=0.035mm. In the near future, we will fabricate the antenna, which we have designed, and then apply this antenna to the mobile communication system. And we will test this mobile communication system for the diverse environments.

  • The present study is concerned with the application of dynamic relaxation method in the investigation of the large deflection behavior of spatial structures. The dynamic relaxation do not require the computation or formulation of any tangent stiffness matrix. The convergence to the solution is achieved by using only vectorial quantities and no stiffness matrix is required in its overall assembled form. In an effort to evaluate the merits of the methods, extensive numerical studies were carried out on a number of selected structural systems. The advantages of using dynamic relaxation methods, in tracing the post-buckling behavior of spatial structures, are demonstrated.

  • We report our measurements of the trigonometric distance and proper motion of IRAS 20056+3350, obtained from the annual parallax of $H_2O$ masers. Our distance of $D=4.69^{+0.65}_{-0.51}kpc$, which is 2.8 times larger than the near kinematic distance adopted in the literature, places IRAS 20056+3350 at the leading tip of the Local arm and proximal to the Solar circle. We estimated the proper motion of IRAS 20056+3350 to be (${\mu}_{\alpha}cos{\delta}$, ${\mu}_{\delta}$) = ($-2.62{\pm}0.33$, $-5.65{\pm}0.52$) $mas\;yr^{-1}$ from the group motion of $H_2O$ masers, and use our results to estimate the angular velocity of Galactic rotation at the Galactocentric distance of the Sun, ${\Omega}_0=29.75{\pm}2.29km\;s^{-1}kpc^{-1}$, which is consistent with the values obtained for other tangent points and Solar circle objects.

  • We made phase-referencing Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of Galactic 22 GHz $H_2O$ maser sources with VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA). We measured the parallax distances of G48.61+0.02, G48.99-0.30, G49.19-0.34, ON1, IRAS 20056+3350, IRAS 20143+3634, ON2N, and IRAS 20126+4104, which are located near the tangent point and the Solar circle. The angular velocity of the Galactic rotation at the LSR (i.e. the ratio of the Galactic constants) is derived using the measured parallax distances and proper motions of these sources. The derived value of ${\Omega}_0=28.8{\pm}1.7km\;s^{-1}kpc^{-1}$ is consistent with recent values obtained using VLBI astrometry but 10% larger than the International Astronomical Union (IAU) recommended value of $25.9km\;s^{-1}kpc^{-1}=(220km\;s^{-1})$ / (8.5 kpc).

  • This paper presents a method of elastic-plastic analysis for planar steel frames that provides the accuracy of distributed plasticity methods with the computational efficiency that is greater than that of distributed plasticity methods but less than that of plastic-hinge based methods. This method accounts for the effect of spread of plasticity accurately without discretization through the cross-section of a beam-column element, which is achieved by the following procedures. First, nonlinear equations describing the relationships between generalized stresses and strains of the cross-section are derived analytically. Next, nonlinear force-deformation relationships for the beam-column element are obtained through lengthwise integration of the generalized strains. Elastic-plastic flexibility coefficients are then calculated by differentiating the above element force-deformation relationships. Finally, an elastic-plastic stiffness matrix is obtained by making use of the flexibility-stiffness transformation. Adding the conventional geometric stiffness matrix to the elastic-plastic stiffness matrix results in the tangent stiffness matrix, which can readily be used to evaluate the load carrying capacity of steel frames following standard nonlinear analysis procedures. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by several examples that are sensitive to the effect of spread of plasticity.
