In order to provide some references for suitability of carrier-based aircrafts, this paper studies the flow field of exhaust jets and its impact on the flight deck. The geometrical models of aircraft carrier and carrier-based aircrafts are firstly built, on which unstructured tetrahedral meshes are generated for numerical analysis. Then, this paper simulates the flow field of exhaust jets to evaluate its impact on the Jet Blast Deflector (JBD) and the flight deck, when four carrier-based aircrafts are ready to start off in the bow. The standard k-${\varepsilon}$ equations, three-dimension N-S equations and the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) theory are used in the analysis process. To solve the equations, the thermal coupling of the wind and the jet flow are also considered. The velocity and temperature distributions are provided with the simulation of the CFD software, FLUENT. The results indicate that: (1) this analytical method can be used to simulate aerodynamic problems with complex geometrical models, and the results are of high reliability; (2) the safety working area, the installation scheme of the JBD and the arrangement of the take-off position can be optimized through analysis.
The purpose of this study was to compare the kinematic analyses of the women's pole vault skills difference between skilled group (1st to 8th place) and less skilled group (10th to 15th place) who participated in IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. To achieve this goal, 16 women's pole vault player's kinematic analyses was conducted. Player's best performance was recorded by five normal video cameras operating at 60 Hz. The results of this study through the research procedures above are as follows. First, Skilled group's average step length and the ratio of step length to her height were longer than less skilled's group in run-up phase. Second, Skilled group's horizontal velocity was faster than less Skilled group's results. And pole plant angle was lower than less Skilled group's results in take-off phase. Third, Maximum pole flexion angle did not show difference of between two groups in pole bending phase. However, Skilled group's vertical velocity was higher than less skilled group's results.
The purpose of this study is to closely examine kinematic characteristics by jump phase of Li Xiaopeng motion in horse vaulting and provide the training data. In doing so, as a result of analyzing kinematic variables through 3-dimensional cinematographic using the high-speed video camera to Li Xiaopeng motion first performed at the men's vault competition at the 14th Busan Asian Games, the following conclusion was obtained. 1. It was indicated that at the post-flight, the increase of flight time and height and twisting rotational velocity has a decisive effect on the increase of twist displacement. And Li Xiaopeng motion showed longer flight time and higher flight height than Ropez motion with the same twist displacement of entire movement. Also the rotational displacement of the trunk at peak of COG was much short of $360^{\circ}$(one rotation) but twist displacement showed $606^{\circ}$. Likewise, Li Xiaopeng motion was indicated to concentrate on twist movement in the early flight. 2. It was indicated that at the landing, Li Xiaopeng motion gets the hip to move back, the trunk to stand up and the horizontal velocity of COG to slow down. This is thought to be the performance of sufficient landing, resulting from large security of rotational displacement of airborne and twist displacement. 3. It was indicated that at the board contact, Li Xiaopeng motion made a rapid rotation uprighting the trunk to recover slowing velocity caused by jumping with the horse in the back, and has already twisted the trunk nearly close to $40^{\circ}$ at board contact. Under the premise that elasticity is generated without the change of the feet contacting the board, it will give an aid to the rotation and twist of pre-flight. Thus, in the round-oH phase, the tap of waist according to the fraction and extension of hip joint and arm push is thought to be very important. 4. It was indicated that at the pre-flight, Li Xiaopeng motion showed bigger movement than the techniques of precedented studies rushing to the horse, and overcomes the concern of relatively low power of jump through the rapid rotation of the trunk. Li Xiaopeng motion secured much twist distance, increased rotational distance with the trunk bent forward, resulting in the effect of rushing to the horse. 5. At horse contact, Li Xiaopeng motion makes a short-time contact, and maintains horse take-off angle close to vertical, contributing to the increase of post-flight time and height. This is thought to be resulted from rapid move toward movement direction along with the rotational velocity of trunk rapidly earned prior to horse contact, and little shave of rotation axis according to twist motion because of effective twist in the same direction.

Turbo-pumps have weak points, such as the pumping operation is unstable on the positive slope of the head curve and/or the cavitation occurs at the low suction head. To improve simultaneously both weak points, the first author invented the unique pumping unit composed of the tandem impellers and the peculiar motor with the double rotational armatures. The front and the rear impellers are driven by the inner and the outer armatures of the motor, respectively. Both impeller speeds are automatically and smartly adjusted in response to the pumping discharge, while the rotational torques between both impellers/armatures are counter-balanced. Such speeds contribute to suppress successfully not only the unstable operation at the low discharge but also the cavitation at the high discharge, as verified with the axial flow type pumping unit in the previous paper. Continuously, this paper investigates experimentally the effects of the tandem impeller profiles on the pump performances and the rotational speeds against the discharge, using the impellers whose loads are low and/or high at the normal discharge. The worthy remarks are that (a) the unstable operation is suppressed as expected and the shut off power is scarcely large in the smart control, (b) the blade profile contributes to determine the discharge giving the maximum/minimum rotational speed where the reverse flow may incipiently appears at the front impeller inlet, (c) the tandem impeller profiles scarcely affect the rotational speeds, while the loads of the front and the rear impellers are same, but (d) the impeller with the low load must run faster and the impeller with the high load must run slower at the same discharge to take the same rotational torque, and (e) the reverse flow at the inlet and the swirling velocity component at the outlet of the front impeller with the high load require making the rotational speed of the rear impeller with low load fairly faster at the lower discharge.
The purpose of this study was to identify effects of restricted trunk motion on the performances of the maximum vertical jump. Ten healthy males performed normal countermovement jump(NJ) and control type of countermovement jump(CJ), in which subjects were required to restrict trunk motion as much as possible. The results showed 10% decreases of jumping height in CJ compared with NJ, which is primarily due to vertical velocity at take off. NJ with trunk motion produced significantly higher GRF than RJ, especially at the early part of propulsive phase, which resulted from increased moments on hip joint. And these were considered the main factors of performance enhancement in NJ. There were no significant differences in the mechanical outputs on knee and ankle joint between NJ and RJ. With trunk motion restricted, knee joint alternatively played a main role for propulsion, which is contrary on the normal jump that hip joint was highest contributor. And restricted trunk motion resulted in the changes of coordination pattern, knee-hip extension timing compared with normal proximal-distal sequence. In conclusion these results suggest that trunk motion is effective strategy for increasing performance of vertical jumping.

Power plant is the important infrastructure to generate electricity. This plant in normally located next to river and seashore in order to take cooling water through intake. However, the plant is stopped when marine organism blocks the intake, and it caused damages by social and commercial. Therefore, air bubble barrier has been used to block marine organism in order to operate the plant properly. The aim of this study was to test the rates of cut off of floating substance by air bubble barrier to develop the facility for the plant. The test was conducted by current velocity, pressure of air, specific gravity of the substance and the layer of the barrier, and the result showed the blocking rates by the condition. It will be used as basic data to develop the air bubble barrier and to operate power plant properly from the marine organism.
This study was to perform the kinetic analysis of forward $1\frac{1}{2}$ somersault on the platform diving. Six men's diving players of the Korea national reserve athletes participated in this study. The variables were analyzed response time, velocity, center of mass (COM), angle, center of pressure (COP) and ground reaction force (GRF) of motion. For measure and analysis of this study, used to synchronized to 4 camcorder and 1 force plate, used to the Kwon3D XP (Ver. 4.0, Visol, Korea) and Kwon GRF (Ver. 2.0, Visol, Korea) for analyzed of variables. The results were as follows; Time factor were observed in maximum knee flexion depending on the extent of use at phase 1 of take-off to execute the somersault. This enabled the subject to secure the highest possible body position in space at the moment of jumping to execute the somersault and prepare for the entry into the water with more ease. Regarding the displacement of COM, all subjects showed rightward movement in the lateral displacement during technical execution. Changes in forward and downward movements were observed in the horizontal and vertical displacements, respectively. In terms of angular shift, the shoulder joint angle tended to decrease on average, and the elbow joints showed gradually increasing angles. This finding can be explained by the shift of the coordinate points of body segments around the rotational axis in order to execute the half-bending movement that can be implemented by pulling the lower limb segments toward the trunk using the upper limb segments. The hip joint angles gradually decreased; this accelerated the rotational movement by narrowing the distance to the trunk. Movement-specific shifts in the COP occurred in the front of and vertical directions. Regarding the changes in GRF, which is influenced by the strong compressive load exerted by the supporting feet, efficient aerial movements were executed through a vertical jump, with no energy lost to the lateral GRF.

This paper presents an optimal path planning strategy for aerial searching and surveying of a user-designated area using multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The method is designed to deal with a single unseparated polygonal area, regardless of polygonal convexity. By defining the search area into a set of grids, the algorithm enables UAVs to completely search without leaving unsearched space. The presented strategy consists of two main algorithmic steps: cellular decomposition and path planning stages. The cellular decomposition method divides the area to designate a conflict-free subsearch-space to an individual UAV, while accounting the assigned flight velocity, take-off and landing positions. Then, the path planning strategy forms paths based on every point located in end of each grid row. The first waypoint is chosen as the closest point from the vehicle-starting position, and it recursively updates the nearest endpoint set to generate the shortest path. The path planning policy produces four path candidates by alternating the starting point (left or right edge), and the travel direction (vertical or horizontal). The optimal-selection policy is enforced to maximize the search efficiency, which is time dependent; the policy imposes the total path-length and turning number criteria per candidate. The results demonstrate that the proposed cellular decomposition method improves the search-time efficiency. In addition, the candidate selection enhances the algorithmic efficacy toward further mission time-duration reduction. The method shows robustness against both convex and non-convex shaped search area.
The purpose of this study was to find differences of jumping performances within individual and to identify the influencing factors in these differences. 20 male subjects performed 6 maximal vertical jumps. The best(GP) & worst(BP) performance of each subject based on their jump height were compared in further analysis. There was a significant difference of approx. 10% in the jump height between GP and BP, which resulted from height of COM and vertical velocity at the instant of take-off. We could observe a significantly higher ankle moment in the GB more than the BP but no significant differences for the knee and hip joint. Also the maximum power of ankle joints in the GP were significantly higher than that in the BP. According to the results, the mechanical output of knee and hip joint are not as influential as that of ankle joint for difference of performance within individual. In conclusion, the results showed that mechanical output of the ankle joint could be more influential factors on the performances within individual although the knee and hip joint play an important role in the vertical jump. We therefore propose that more emphasis should be placed on the potentiation of the ankle joint for the training of the maximum vertical jump.
