Tailor Welded Blanks를 이용한 승용차용 Sub-frame의 설계기법 연구 (A Study on the Development of Sub-frame Designe Using Tailor Welded Blanks)

  • The sub-frame of passenger car begins to be used widely for the safety of passengers. Conventional design of the sub-frame comprises 22parts, and it requires quite complicated production processes. In this papers, the sub-frame is designed with TWB(Tailor Welded Blanks) to improve stiffness, to reduce weight and to simplify the manufacturing process. To design the proper structure, structural analysis and crash analysis are executed about the conventional design and TWB applied design. A prototype TWB applied sub-frame is manufactured using mash-seam welded TB(Tailored Blanks). Comparing with the conventional sub-frame, the TWB applied sub-frame has 30% weight reduction and 17% increasement of structural stiffness in average.

  • In this study, the subframe of passenger car is developed by typical analysis and carsh simulations. According this results, energy absorption and barrier froce is very important to control passenger safety and deformation shape. For that purpose, it is most effective to absorb energy more tailor welded blanks(TWB) subframe than non-TWB. The subframe with TWB is simulated, in which reduced stamping parts, weight reduction and cost down.

  • The weld line location and the weld line movement in stamping with laser-tailor welded blanks(TWB) were investigated through square cup deep drawing tests. The step blank holder was introduced to form TWB of different thicknesses without wrinkling, and the non-uniform blank holding force(BHF) was enforced to control weld line movement. Test results of the blanks with shifted weld lines showed that the large portion of the thinner area could result in a large weld line movement. Careful selection of the weld line location and the BHF control should be adapted in TWB design to avoid failures and to ensure its formability.

  • 본 연구에서는 차체 부품의 경량소재 대체에 따른 Panel Assembly Rear Seat Back 부품 제작에 최신 저입열 미그용접공정을 적용한 TWB(Tailor Welded Blank) 공정기술을 확보하기 위해 최적 용접조건 도출에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 용접 후 성형이 이뤄지는 제조공정의 특성 상 성형강도에 중점을 둔 실험을 진행하였으며, 이를 위해 각 와이어에 따른 용접부의 기계/금속학적 특성이 평가되었다. 대상 시편은 6천계열 열처리형 합금이며, 두께는 각각 1.6t, 1.4t로 이를 맞대기 용접 후 그 특성을 평가하였다. 용접은 저입열 GMA용접 공법 중 하나인 CMT 용접법(Cold Metal Transfer)을 사용하였으며, 평가 대상 와이어로는 4043, 4047, 5183 및 5356이 사용되었다. 특성평가는 마크로 및 마이크로 조직, 경도, 인장강도, 기공 및 결함, 성형강도 등에 대해 이뤄졌으며, 희석된 와이어의 조성이 용접부 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 검토되었다. 실험 결과, 5천계열 와이어가 성형강도에 비교적 더 강인한 결과를 나타냈으며 성형강도는 용접조건 및 초기 갭에 대한 영향은 받았으나, 비드형상과 강도간의 연관성은 찾을 수 없었다. 이에 따라 TWB 적용을 위한 와이어로는 5356이 가장 우수한 것으로 판명되었다.

  • TWB(Tailor Welded Blanks) is one of the recent techniques to reduce the weight and cost of the body members. To apply the TWB technique, we must decide the position of the welding line and the thickness of the welded blanks. Although many researchers have tried to check the formability of welded blanks, there are not so many researches from the structural point of view. In this paper, the TWB technique is applied to combine the door inner panel and the hinge face panel into one piece. The finite element structural analysis of the door assembly leads to the final design of the tailor welded door inner panel, which shows the mass reduction of 1.08kg without the sacrifice of the structural stiffness. The structural stiffness analysis includes the frame stiffness analysis, the belt line stiffness analysis, the door sagging analysis and the vibration analysis.

TWB 판넬의 기계적특성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Mechanical Characteristics for Tailor Welded Blank Panel)

  • There are many methods to reduce the weight and the cost of the automobile body, among them, Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) is new welding method applied to body structure. It is necessary to evaluate mechanical properties of TWB structures or sheets for the application to automobile body parts. In this study, the stiffness of T-type and L-type joint structures, composite of TWB panel, which simplified two portions of side structure in automobile body were investigated. Additionally, the fatigue properties of TWB panels were obtained. Two types of welding technologies, laser and mash seam welding, were used to join mild panels with different thickness. This results are compared with conventional structures. The results are as follows: 1) The stiffness of joint structures, composite of TWB panel, is approximately 17% higher than that of conventional ones. 2) The location of welding line in TWB had a effect on the in plane bending stiffness, but not on the out of plane bending stiffness. 3) In terms of welding technology type, the mash seam welding show higher stiffness than the laser welding for in plane bending stiffness. But minimal differences in both types are revealed for out of plane bending stiffness. 4) The fatigue strength, composite of TWB panel, is lower than that of base steel. It is thought that defects in the welding zone had the action of notch in the fatigue test.

  • The combination of tailor welded blank (TWB) and hot stamping often offers improved crash-worthiness and reduced mass of stamped parts in the automobile body. To investigate the formability of laser TWB and the reliability of weld line, the present study used 22MnB5 boron steel sheet of the same thickness and used the Erichsen cupping test at elevated temperatures. The effects of laser direction, die temperature, weld line positions and forming speed on formability(the limiting dome height) were studied and the results were compared with the formability of the base material.

  • A tailor welded blank (TWB) is a welded blank comprised of two or more sheets with different properties - thickness, strengths or formabilities. TWBs are applied to the body panels to reduce weight and cost of the part. In this research, ultra high strength steel and high ductility steel were joined and laser tailor welded blanks were implemented. Yb:YAG laser welding tests were conducted with various welding conditions, and mechanical and geometrical characteristics of weldments were evaluated.

스탬핑용 고강도강 TRB 판재의 성형 특성 (The formability of high strength steel plate applied TRB for stamping)

  • 최근에 안전기준과 환경규제 강화의 증대로 인해, 차체의 경량화에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 고강도강의 응용은 가장 보편화 된 차체 경량화의 효과적인 방법 중에 하나이다. TWB(Tailor Welded Blank)는 다양한 두께와 용접을 사용하여 부분적인 강도와 경량화를 만족시키는 주요한 공법으로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 추가적인 용접공정으로 인해 판재간의 용접성이 중요하고 용접부에 대한 품질관리가 중요하다. 이점을 개선하기 위해, TRB(Tailor Rollded Blank)공법이 제안되었다. TRB는 롤러 압력을 조절하여 판재의 두께를 다르게 하고, 용접을 사용하는 TWB 공법보다 추가적인 용접공정이 없기 때문에 생산 비용적인 측면에서 훨씬 더 효율적이다. 본 연구에서는 Blank의 압연 영향을 조사하기 위해 스탬핑용 고강도강 TRB 판재의 성형성을 분석하였다. 성형성을 분석하기 위해, TRB 판재에서 0.8 mm, 1 mm의 두께를 갖는 부분을 채취하여 시험하였다. 시편에 새겨진 그리드마킹의 변형도를 분석하여 변형률을 조사하였고, 0.8 mm와 1.0 mm의 두께를 갖는 TRB 시편으로 Erichsen 시험을 한 후에 FE분석을 활용하여 성형성과 고유진동수를 비교하였다.
