Taguchi method is used to determine the optimal configuration of PZT (Lead Zirconate-Titanate) patch on the host structure for improving the performance of piezoelectric shunt system. The charges generated on the surface of PZT patch are selected to be the objective function in the Taguchi method. Full three dimensional finite element models are used to simulate vibration of smart panel and to obtain the admittance of the piezoelectric shunt system. Using Taguchi method in Minitab, the optimal model is obtained. The experiment with piezoelectric shunt circuit is performed to verify the validity of the optimal model comparing with initial model.

In this work, the Greitzer's B-parameter model is applied for analyzing the stall and surge characteristics. The four parameters in the model are highlighted in order to establish the influence of each parameter on the system. First of all, the governing equations of stall and surge behavior are solved numerically using fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. The Taguchi method is then used to analyze the results generated to obtain the extent of effects of the parameters on the system by varying the parameters in a series of combinations. Finally, a thorough analysis is carried out on the results generated from the Taguchi method and the graphs.
Taguchi defined a good quality as 'A correspondence of product characteristic's expected value to the objective value satisfying the minimum variance condition.' For his good quality, he suggested Taguchi Method which is called Robust design which is irrelevant to the effect of these noise factors. Taguchi Method which has many success examples and which is used by many manufacturing industry. But Optimal solution of Taguchi Method is one among the experiments which is not optimal area of experiment point. On the other hand, Response Surface Method (RSM) which has advantage to find optimal solution area experiments points by approximate polynomial regression. But Optimal of RSM is depended on initial point and RSM can not use many factors because of a great many experiment. In this paper, we combine the Taguchi Method and the Response Surface Method with each advantage which is called Taguchi-RSM. Taguchi-RSM has two step, first step to find first solution by Taguchi Method, second step to find optimal solution by RSM with initial point as first step solution. We give example using catapults.
In this paper, propose an optimal design to improve the mechanical efficiency of gate valve made by forging method. In order to design the experiments using table of orthogonal array and optimization design is conducted as application of real response model to Taguchi method based approximation model using computer simulation. Also, from verification of the response model with optimized results was confirmed that usefulness and reliance of application Taguchi method to structural optimum design using finite element analysis and equation.
The parameter design is the most emphasized measure by researchers for a new products development. It is critical for makers to achieve simultaneously in both the time-to-market production and the quality enhancement. However, there are difficulties in practical application, such as (1) complexity and nonlinear relationships co-existed among the system's inputs, outputs and control parameters, (2) interactions occurred among parameters, (3) where the adjustment factors of Taguchi's two-phase optimization procedure cannot be sure to exist in practice, and (4) for some reasons, the data became lost or were never available. For these incomplete data, the Taguchi methods cannot treat them well. Neural networks have a learning capability of fault tolerance and model free characteristics. These characteristics support the neural networks as a competitive tool in processing multivariable input-output implementation. The successful fields include diagnostics, robotics, scheduling, decision-making, prediction, etc. This research is a case study of spherical annealing model. In the beginning, an original model is used to pre-fix a model of parameter design. Then neural networks are introduced to achieve another model. Study results showed both of them could perform the highest spherical level of quality.
Finding an optimal solution in MADN[(Multi-Attribute Decision-Making) problems is difficult, when the number of alternatives, or that of attributes is relatively large Most of the existing mathematical approaches arrive at a final solution on the basis of many unrealistic assumptions, without reflecting the decision-maker's preference structure exactly. In this paper we suggest a model that helps us find a group consensus without assessing these parameters in specific cardinal values. Therefore, This research provides a comprehensive Decision Making of the theory and methods applicable to the analysis of decisions that involve risk and multiple criteria attributes. after, The emphasis of the procedure will be on developments from the fields of decisions analysis and utility theory of Taguchi Method. This theoretical development will be illustrated through the discussion of several real-world application and a case study. When the multiple number of decision makers are involved in the decision making procedure, the problem of uncertainties invariably occurs, because of the different views between them. In this paper, New decision making model using Taguchi Method is applied to effectively model the multi-attribute-decision making(MADM) procedure in the uncertainties dominated two area(quantitative and qualitative factors), Quantitative factors evaluation is used Loss Function of Taguchi, qualitative factors evaluation is used 50 ratio by each specialist. thus it can be used for aiding of preferable alternative. as a result, We will be proved efficiency about New decision making model of applied Taguchi Method with Analytical presentation of all the expecting outcomes when a specific strategy or an alternative plan is selected under expecting future environment.
The passenger car manufacturer should meet more and more strict requirements of customers on noise and vibration problems. It is proven that the Taguchi method is a powerful tool for improving the product quality in many areas. This paper employs the Taguchi method to reduce low-frequency booming noise in a passenger car. Selection of object function is very important to minimize interaction effects in the Taguchi method. We select logarithmic-scaled sound pressure level as an object function, which is commonly used to analyze the noise and vibration signals. The optimum noise level predicted with additive-model assumption agrees well with the test results. In addition, the optimum level is lower than the initial one by about 5 dB without any adverse effects. The results show that the Taguchi method can be applied efficiently to solve the noise problem in the passenger cars.
In this paper, a Taguchi-based finite element method (FEM) has been proposed and implemented to assess optimal design parameters for minimum static deflection in laminated composite plate. An orthodox mathematical model (based on higher-order shear deformation plate theory and Green-Lagrange geometrical nonlinearity) has been used to compute the nonlinear central deflection values of laminated composite plates according to Taguchi design of experiment via a self-developed MATLAB computer code. The lay-up scheme, aspect ratio, thickness ratio and the support conditions of the laminated composite plate structure were designated as the governable design parameters. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to investigate the effect of diverse control factors on the nonlinear static responses. Moreover, regression model is developed for predicting the desired responses. The ANOVA revealed that the lay-up scheme alongside the support condition plays vital role in minimizing the central deflection values of laminated composite plate under uniformly distributed load. The conformity test results of Taguchi analysis are also in good agreement with the numerical experimentation results.
Mahalanobis Taguchi-System (MTS) has been used in different diagnostic applications to make quantitative decisions by constructing a multivariate system using data analytic methods without any assumption regarding statistical distribution. MTS performs Taguchi's fractional factorial design based on the Mahahlanobis distance as a performance metric. In this study, MTS used for analyzing automotive ride satisfaction, which measured as a CSR(Customer Satisfaction Rating). The automobile which has a good CSR score treated as a normal group for constructing Mahalanobis space. The results of this research show that two attribute (Impact Hardness and Memory Shake) have a minus gain value and can be removed from further analysis. With the linear regression model, the difference of CSR between using all 6 attributes and just using significant 4 attributes compared.

A systematic procedure for designing a direct-radiator-type loudspeaker has been developed, based on a numerical vibro-acoustic analysis and the Taguchi method. The finite-element model of the speaker cone has been used to calculate the vibration response of the cone excited by the voice coil. The vibration response of the speaker cone has been used as a boundary condition for the acoustic analysis, and the acoustic frequency characteristics of the loudspeaker have been calculated by the boundary element method. The numerical model has been confirmed by comparing the numerical results with experimental ones obtained in an anechoic chamber. Some design parameters contributing dominantly to the acoustic characteristics have been selected by using the Taguchi method, and the variations of the acoustic characteristics due to the changes of the parameter values have been examined using the numerical model.
